I don't get the pessimism. This is enough of an upgrade to get some serious talent from GWS without comprising our draft position this year. Were some of you expecting Wells to just hand over their next first round pick for Tuohy?

In isolation, Geelong probably win the trade but in the overall scheme of things, this is a great trade for our long term list management. Some of you seem to think that SOS is dealing with complete morons who will overpay at every opportunity. Tuohy was uncontracted, this is a good trade for us.

Smedts and future first for Tuohy and future second

Assuming Smedts is a total anchor who never plays again, this is Tuohy for a pick bump next year of probably 4-8 places? Eg. Pick 19-22 for pick 14-18?

Tuohy for Cat's 2017 first rounder

Smedts for Blues 2017 second rounder

I can live with that in the belief that our people know what they are getting themselves into with Smedts. He can play, there is no doubt about that, it's the injuries that has me juggling the rosary beads.

If we make 10th -12th spot and geelong bow out elimination final week 1. Thats a big if.. massive win.. we cant judge this trade this year alone. Who knows this might come off real well for us.. or it could be picks 18 us.. 19 geelong. Who knows... no use getting angry. Save that for next year ;)

White Men Can't Jump, sometimes when you lose, you actually win. Happy with this deal if it saves 13 going to GWS.

OK so we net Marchbank and steakknives (baring in mind all the GWS players we were looking at have been traded to other clubs already).

We will have given up Gibbs, Tuohy, a 2017 First Rounder, a 2017 2nd rounder, for Pick 13 & Marchbank (if he gets on the park that's a positive), and a bunch of cast-offs.

That's cause your knowledge of Tuohy fits inside an amoeba's bumhole.

WHY THANK YOU FOR KINDLY WELCOMING ME INTO THE DISCUSSION

Amoeboids don't even have bumholes man, at least get your science right if you're going to jump to conclusions ffs

Will Tuhoy effectivley fill the attacking back role (replacing Enright) Geel want him to? Probably better than the alternative they flirted with (Deledio) would have.

Is he worth a future FRDP? Imo no, especially when you consider Geel won't have had one for three years by then and it may only take a few unlucky results for it to become a single-figure pick, which is a big win for Carl.

Will Tuhoy be missed at Carl? Not in a debilitating fashion IMO, although it's always handy to have a back able to pull the trigger on a long kick to release pressure (although like contemporary Matt Suckling, Tuhoy may not use it as often or as effectively as he otherwise may). Tuhoy had a solid year but not on par with his 2015 when he was top 3 B&F. Also, he wanted to go - we've seen elsewhere this trade period that can easily end in tears for the team (and their supporters) holding the players.

The second-round draft pick handed back does mitigate some of the damage to Geel although again, it will only take a few strong early results for Carlton (especially if they capture some of the early 16' form they showed pre-losing streak) and that could potentially end up something just south of 30, which is hardly prime real estate.

Finally to Smedts, which seems to be insult to injury for Geel IMO as they are already behind just on the evidence above. Yes he has been hurt but it's important to avoid conflating lack of game time with lack of ability - certainly nobody is doing that over at Hawthorn with JOM. When fit he may prove a solid ball-winner and at his age still has time on his side - he was Geels first pick if that draft, after all.

From these short but considered thoughts I conclude Carlton are likely winners in this trade.

Fit that into a bumhole, you bumhole.

Disgraceful wishing injury on players!

I never said I wished Henderson got injured. I said I wouldn't cry if he got injured. Where in my post did I say "I wish they got injured?"

I also wouldn't cry if their form drops off and they play poorly for Geelong. Or is that wrong to not wish every player plays equally well for every single team?

I also wouldn't cry if Geelong's new recruits from other clubs also played poorly. Or should I be barracking for Geelong to do well?

I also wouldn't cry if their recruiting technique which largely hinges on raids from other clubs falls in a giant heap

You are welcome to misinterpret my post if you like.

Henderson and Tuohy are the prime reasons I want them down the ladder. Injuries, such as a hamstrings I wouldn't cry if it happened to them. Not much respect there for them. "Mr Honesty" and "Mr Loyalty".
Good riddance.

Thank you now give us 2MP

Does Smedts have ANY endearing qualities? A jaunty accent? Help me out here guys.
I deadset reckon his penchant for breaking bones is a sight more palatable than say a Nafan Buckley situation who eventually had to retire because of persistent hammy injuries - bones can set - bones can smedt even...........all I've got.......
