I can confirm that Port has the highest monetary offer on the table at this moment. As for under the table you'll have to ask someone in the know at Geelong.
No under the table deals at Geelong….

…. You can see deals quite easily on a farm.

I’ve heard some news over the weekend. Butters will more than likely seek a trade this off-season to the Bulldogs. He hasn’t signed the huge offer from Port to extend. Swans willing to offer a top 10 pick for Jamarra which could then be used for a butters plus an extra first round pick and potentially a future first with something coming back from Port. Will be 3 first round picks for Butters and a future 2nd back. Will be an interesting off-season.
I’m going to hurt your feelings.

Superstars go to big clubs.

Terminal makes me laugh but it would be a disaster. Honestly im pretty confident on Butters staying
Sorry I meant for a flag tilt in the next few years not killing the club haha. Anyway Bergman is locked in. Does that mean Butters is a chance now?

But in all seriousness, he seems like the loyal type and seems to love Port. Would have to be a big offer or a valid reason to come to Victoria .

Did Bont leave another club?
No - but I don't see where in what you wrote you were referring only to superstars that leave clubs. Was that just to be assumed?

If we're only talking superstars that leave clubs that's a pretty small list to choose from.

Well that rules out you guys.

In all seriousness, He wants to win a premiership. I know for a fact he is wanting to sign with the Bulldogs. Grew up loving the club and makes it a lot easier to sign knowing it would make our list one of the teams to beat. Bont, Darcy and Butters and I wont even mention Richards, potentially 3 of the best 5 in the comp.

All players want to win a premiership ya numpty 🤦 And no, you don't know for a "fact" so get your hand off it. A lot of players supported different clubs they don't play for when they were younger and they still remain loyal, heck, literally the Bont was a pies supporter ffs and he's been loyal to the dogs.

Bont was a Tigers supporter.

Nah. You don't

In fairness you drafted him, but I don't agree that the Bulldogs wouldn't be a good destination club. Problem is more finding a player that is materially better than what you already have
In the past dogs didn't have good facilities or the right sponsors to lure anyone. Then there was the lack of indigenous players. Dogs are likely in a better position now since Bains and Watson-Wheeler came on board.

Yeah but i mean, what do you actually need? Dogs fans say you need mids but you're playing Riley Sanders on a wing a lot of the time. West is a capable small forward but would be playing midfield at a lot of clubs.

Looking specifically for young mids to take over once the older mids age out. So far it's Sanders freijah and richards with questions marks on Garcia. West serves better as a papley roletype. Outside that It's bare. Getting Butters takes the pressure off the future and provides another player that can take over for Bont. Sanders also played on the wing out of necessity not because he couldn't break into the mids.

So outside "Sanders, Freijah, and Richards" it's pretty bare? I'm not sure i really see a burning issue

If Butters is to be lured it’s going to be on gigantic coin. Dogs are a team full of stars but not a star team. I wonder if it would cause a cap squeeze with so many players with big reputations.

Sorry to disappoint, but we have close to 2mil spare in our cap. Macrae and Daniel contracts gone, plus we had the money ready for Smith, on the chance that he stayed. Sam Power is one of the best list managers in the business. We could easily afford Butters if he wanted to come, the only issue is satisfying Port in a trade.
I would say I couldn’t care less- so hardly dissapointed. And even then a totally unbiased dog fan on the internets word means absolutely nothing.
I remember hearing about Norton copping a massive deal, I’m sure Darcy will be up for one, Bonts new deal, Libba, English- did he end up overpaid after last contract?

They all got farms out the back of Werribee mate 😉

I'm of the opinion that if a superstar expresses interest in joining your club, you make it happen. In the unlikely event Butters wanted to come to the Dogs, we'd be stupid to say no (I highly, highly doubt it happens)

But I don't see where the concern comes from around future midfielders. Bont has another 4 years in him and will slowly transition to part time mid, part time forward. Kennedy and Harmes have another 3-4 years. Richards has 7-8 years. Freijah and Sanders both 10+. We also have West who has become a near-elite small forward, but could always venture into the middle later.

Honestly can't think of any clubs as well-prepared for their future midfield... It's defence that we should be dedicating major resources to from here, not midfield. Bergman is the bigger need, not Butters - pity he signed on

Darcy wont be expecting $1.5m a year ?
