Just read the Zimbots have their test status back and are going to play one off tests with the Bangas, Pakis and Kiwi's.

Is this a good or a bad thing?

Does anyone care anymore?

They have actually produced good cricketers, if it wasn't for all the problems in the country and they could have actually had all the players playing for them that were available they would of been a pretty good side in the late 90's and early 2000's. Have not really watched too closely of late but from the game the other night they still have some OK players, with the format of games they will get can't really see a problem with it.

Its a good thing, though there must still be doubt whether NZ will go with the political and security cpncerns. The Zimbabwean regime may officially be a "power sharing" one, but Mugabe still maintains power and elections (such as they are) are probably to be held soon. As soon as Mugabe can secure the result.

This is really great news for Zimbabwe cricket. I think the opposition and the slow start back into test cricket is a really good move. Also matches against the A teams of South Africa and Australia, should provide great experience. All in all, this is a great home fixture list, and even though they might get beaten comfortably in a few of the fixtures, it should work as a great stepping stone.

Bad.

Wait until Zimbabwe have their revolution and chuck out Mugabe, and then let them in.
Zimbabwean cricket has (reportedly) moved away somewhat from being run as a Mugabe plaything by Mugabe cronies. So long as cricket stays outside presidential control, I don't see that the political situation has much to do with it. Unless, that is, Mugabe starts using it as propaganda suggesting he is a legitimate ruler. Once that happens, or security concerns show themselves, then home games might need to be cancelled again.

Ebrahim, Marillier, Streak, Blignaut, Ervine, Gripper, Vermeulen. Bring them back!

Blignaut played in the tri-series they had at home v india & sri lanka in may last year.

Any reason why he's not in their WC squad?

Any Test match involving Zimbabwe will be lopsided and not a good thing for Test cricket.

Hopefully it benefits their country though.

true. just like the current situation with the minnow's in the world cup. seeing strong teams post scores of 2/380 from their 50 overs then skittle the weak team for 100 odd isn't good for cricket at all :( and it's boring to watch

Those beltings are often magnified in longer forms of cricket too. Zimbabwe would be better off playing regular 4-5 day cricket against Kenya, Scotland, Netherlands etc

the only way it can be a good thing is if you add Ireland and perhaps the netherlands and split the countires in to two groups

Zimbabwe,Bangladesh,Ireland,Netherlands,Pakistan and WI play each other twice and play Australia,India,England, Sri Lanka, South Africa New Zealand.

That way developing countries get more cricket and set games against the best.

every couple of years the top to teams of Div 2 go up and the bottom 2 go down.

Swap Pakistan and New Zealand around and I like it.

They've played their fixtures now, was it worthwhile?

I thought the Zimbots were handy and a few players showed some promise. Hopefully they can stay on this path and continue to develop.

Until the governance structure of Zimbabwean cricket is sorted out there is no way that they should be back playing any sort of internationals.
By allowing them to play, the ICC is essentially handing money to the Mugabe regime who still controls the cricket board over there. It's sad for a lot of players who will be denied the chance to play international cricket, but their participation is really a tacit of approval of Mugabe and his gangsters. Until they are out of the picture Zimbabwe should remain a pariah.
