Not sure if we want or need this, but seeing as I'm the self proclaimed Statman, I decided to do it anyway. I'll update our stats every week.

UPDATED POST FINALS WEEK 2

Excellent work my friend.

I'm only interested in 3 - Marks, goals and kicks stats but i'm sure others are keen for more.

Our stats got bumped up by the 3 minute kick and catch session at halfback against Collingwood last week. It was actualy quite impressive ( disciplined), and should of lead to a goal.

Could an increase in rushed behinds be related to better defensive forward pressure. If so, it would mean that we're offering up a contest near our goal line that might need to be looked at. But a rushed behind is probably better than giving up possession to the opposition deep in our attack.
If a player kicks for goals, and goes through as off hands on the full, it's a behind to the kicker. Do you know what constitutes a rushed behind in the situation? Does the ball need to go to ground off hands and then go through? If so, the higher amount could be due to us kicking for goal from too far out?

And instead lead to 2 magpie goals :(

Great stuff as always Danoz

On your point about our disposal efficiency being surprisingly low; I think this just shows that it matters more where the turnovers occur and what you do once you turn it over. Last year we would usually turn it over in the middle of the ground then stand there like witches hats, watching our opponent stream towards goal. This year our turnovers may be happening in less dangerous places and we run hard when we do cough it up.

Same goes for tackles. I'm surprised to see we're still below average on total tackles, but I guess that; A) we are the main ones with the ball or B) we make sure when we do decide to tackle, that they stick.

You raise a good however unintended point. I'll try to add in our "v opp" stats/diff as well. The current +/- is against the league mean. I'm confident we've out-tackled both our opponents so far.

You just summed up my entire posting history. :D

Previously we would have a couple of players tackle the player with the ball. Now it seems we have the one in and only a second one comes in later if needed, otherwise they wait out for the ball to be dropped. So wouldn't that decrease the tackle count as opposed to other teams who have a number of players tackling one player?

I added comparison to opponent. We've averaged 5.5 more tackles than our opponent.

I think you can add another to marks inside 50 :)
