The Las Vegas Bears kicked off S21 with a goal-scoring avalanche against the greenhorn Baghdad Bandits, winning by 10 goals. After trading the first pair of goals, the Bears kicked the next 6 goals en route to a 9 goal opening term, with rookie NSFB booting 3 and leading Shermanator a merry dance. brahj dominated the ruck, and fed the ball out to his wingers and flankers in Matera92 and kane249 who dominated throughout.
It didn't get much better in the second term for the beleaguered Bandits. It remained high-scoring and entertaining, with the Bears adding 6 goals to the Bandits 7. dennis Kermit provided good run and carry from his wing, and Bigeasy started to break even with brahj in the ruck. Three late Bandits goals reduced the halftime margin to 31 points.
The Bears piled on another 5 goals in the third term, with miss_kate18 booting 2 in a minute to take the margin beyond 50. kane249 gorged on the supply from the midfield, and Matera92 continued to dominate.
The last quarter saw another 13 goals kicked as both teams paid scant respect to defence. Eventually, the Bears ran out easy victors by 60 points, having had 45 scoring shots and sending a shudder through the competition.
Newcomer NSFB dominated the forward line for the Bears, kicking 8.3 from a forward pocket, while miss_kate18 kicked 5.3 from full forward and ruckman brahj kicked 3. The Bears racked up huge possession numbers as well, with Matera92 having 22 kicks and 23 handballs, kane249 having 20 and 16 with 15 marks and Wise Guy Sam and brahj compiling 31 disposals each. For the shell-shocked Bandits, dennis kermit debuted on a wing with 30posals and 13 marks; ruckman Bigeasy had 24 and 20 hitouts while Itsmyshow kicked 4 goals.

ROUND 1: Dragons FFC vs Gold City Royals
PRE-MATCH:
One side won the premier just two seasons ago, while the other was one of the laughing stocks of the league. Two different sides, facing off to see just how their fortunes would go. The main complaint made about the Royals was simple. The lack of posting. With additions of senior players Nakia and Footypie32, both big names and strong, active posters in the league alongside a handful of rookies, they looked to resolve that issue. The Royals posted 140 times at time of writing, which while below the 212 of the dragons, is an improvement. Danoz and Hate where two key contributors, with new recruits iBeng and cammo6556, making an impact pre-match
THE SIDES:
1ST QUARTER
The game started well for the Dragons, with Hate getting his hand to it first. Rookie A Swallow however was inaccurate with his first kick, meaning he couldn't join the first goal from first kick club. The Dragons got ahead through a roo2macca goal, though the Royals quickly pegged them back. The Dragons pulled out ahead, slamming 6 unanswered goals, before the Royals could nab one. They traded a goal each after, to have a score of 8.1.49 to 3.2.20 at the first break. Not the start the Royals wanted
2ND QUARTER
The 2nd quarter had much relaxed start to the first, with neither side managing a score, until The Old Dark Navy's in the 7th minute. Rookie A11dAtP0w3R (worst name ever) followed shortly, before iBeng (another s**t name) kicked one, which lead Marlowe to say this
The Royals managed to kick 2 important goals, but it was lost somewhat when Moo goaled 20 seconds from half time, leaving a score of 10.1.61 to 7.3.45
3RD QUARTER
Shandog started the quarter in style, with a quick goal to reduce the deficit to 10 points. But in quick succession the experience of Danoz and Moo scored a goal each to take it back out to 22 points. A goal and point followed afterwards for the Royals, still 15 points behind. That quickly got shortened to 8 with a point quickly followed by a goal. With an extra behind to the Royals, they were only down by 7 with a score of 12.1.73 to 10.6.66.
4TH QUARTER
The quarter where dreams are fulfilled or crushed. ShanDog again started in style, kicking straight to leave it to a one point game. The class of Danoz, Hate quickly put on 2 more for the Dragons however and followed by iBeng. With two costly behinds, the Royals were down by 17, extended to 23 after a chefmeister goal. It took another 4 behinds before the Royals could score another goal, thanks to ferrisb, followed by The Old Dark Navy's. This brought the game to a 7 point game, with about 10 minutes to play. New recruit cammo6556 proved his worth, extending out the lead to 13, but ShanDog clawed one back with 3 minutes to go. In the end it was too little, too late and the Dragons won 17.1.103, to 14.12.96. The Royals would wonder what could have been, with missed chances and that poor chance, but it was a good performance by the Dragons especially as FF iBeng struggled with only the 2 goals from 2 kicks. Blacky was one of the best one for the Royals alongside ShanDog who impressed , while Hate had a captain's game and Moo scored a crucial 3 goals.

The Geelong Wolves travelled to Van Cortland Park to take on BigJoeD_ and the Warriors, and came away with a tense 8 point win. The Wolves got away to a fast start, with a quick brace to akkaps and Hatchy 1992 soon cancelled out by boncer34 and Mr_Smooth. Wooshette and Hatchy1992 were having a titanic battle in the ruck, and the next two Wolves goals to DREAM TEAM BUFF and Jordie_tackles were answered by Reginald Perrin and Packedlunch to leave scores level at quarter time.
Controversy marked the start of the second term, as a goal after the quarter time siren to Hatchy1992 was allowed to stand. This seemed to spark the Warriors, with quick goals to DapperJong, Reginald Perrin and Freofalcon establishing a 2 goal break; however the Wolves pulled them back through Jordie_tackles and yyou, before Reginald Perrin briefly got away from jeremias to give the Warriors a 7 point half-time lead. SM and KangaFan35 had fantastic quarters for the Wolves whilst toxic relished the freedom of ruck-roving for the Warriors .
A dour struggle ensued in the third term, as the defences dominated. The ball bounced between the half-back lines for 12 goal-less minutes, before the Wolves through Bucketss and DREAM TEAM BUFF kicked the last two goals of the term to take the 3/4 time lead by 2 points.
An early goal to Wooshette saw the Warriors retake the lead in the final term, but it was shortlived as 4 consecutive Geelong goals took them to what looked like a winning 20 point lead. However, Coney Island struck back, and goals to boncer34, DapperJong and Packedlunch saw them to within 2 points with plenty of time left. But the Wolves held on calmly, and a second goal in the final term by DREAM TEAM BUFF saw the Wolves escape with an 8 point win.
For the winners, Hatchy1992 with 24 disposals, 9 hitouts, 4 tackles and 3 goals was BOG. His co-captain SM with 25 disposals also drove them forward along with debutant gym4life with 22, and KLangaFan35 gave great rebound from halfback. DREAM TEAM BUFF proved the matchwinner, with all of his 4 goals coming at critical times. Wooshette and toxic in the centre square were clearly the Warriors best, while Lord_Flasheart owned his wing. Reginald Perrin won his position early before disappearing after half time.
The Warriors can feel rightly aggrieved about the goal after the quarter time siren which was added on in the second term. The league is fortunate that this quirk of the sim did not alter the result. League admin The Filth Wizard must look into a solution for the issue.

ROUND 1: SIN CITY SWAMPRATS vs ROYS FFC
PRE-MATCH:
The Swamprats last season, stormed the league, winning the minor premiership and being by far the most active side in the competiton. All this went to waste however when they lost to the Mount Buller Demons in the prelim. With the only loss in toxic, they moved on and gained the services of SpudsLoveChild from the Furies, Noobz0r from the Demons alongside 3 rookies. The Roys were seemingly happy with their off-field lot, with no new rookies brought in, but the Wolves pair of A Bit High and Willo_ came in to join them. They’d like to make the finals, as last season wasn’t an overly successful one, narrowly missing the finals. As expected in any Swamprats game, there was posting, and lots of it. With a total of 697 posts at time of writing, it was the most active thread behind, 103 posts over the 2nd thread. The 3 of Millky95, Ant Bear and Close Contest combined for a toal of 172 posts. Marto_ had a good presence, a good showing from the rookie. Willo_ had a good showing for his Roys debut, having 45 posts for his side.
THE SIDES:
1ST QUARTER:
It was an anti-climatic start, with it taking 5 minutes before a score was made, in the form of Fred behind. It took another 3 minutes before a goal was scored, with Allikat kicking true to put them 7 points ahead, nearly 9 minutes in. After they broke through, they scored through Chezzalenko Reborn and then Mooch. Marto_ scored the first 7 points for the Rats, in between a Reardo goal. Fred kicked another behind, before he quickly kicked straight for a goal. The Roys scored another 2, with Marto_ kicking a goal in between that, to finish the quarter at 2.1.13 to 7.2.44.
2ND QUARTER
It was all one-way traffic in the first 10 minutes to the Swamprats, but they didn’t take advantage of it, by kicking 4 behinds. Butler finally kicked straight to reduce the lead of the Roys to 21 points. They kicked another two straight, before they kicked another 4 behinds. The Roys finally scored, firstly a behind and then another Roys goal to Fred. The Swamprats will be kicking themselves, as they kicked 3.8 in that quarter, while the Roys only managed 1.1. This will most likely prove costly, because they could be dominating this game otherwise. 5.9.39 to 8.3.51
3RD QUARTER
The Roys returned to the form they showed in the 1st quarter, scoring the first behind and goal. Butler and NSWCROW kicked truly, before yet another behind, to Close Contest, followed by wharfie_1870 doing the same thing. Mobbs settled it for the Roys, before Marto_ and MannumPower kicked true, so for the first time in the game, the Swamprats were ahead, by 1 point. RU_ levelled it again followed by a quick Roys goal to leave it at 9.11.65 to 11.5.71
4TH QUARTER
The quarter was started by a captain’s goal to fitzroybowiedog, extending the lead to 12 points. Mighty P extended it out to 18 points, 9 minutes into the 4th quarter. Another goal to the captain extended it all the way out to 4 goals. In the story of the day, NSWCROW missed, and scored a behind for the Rats. Mobbenfuhrer did the opposite, kicking straight to extend it to 29 points. Another two Rats behind followed, before Macca19 kicked a goal with seconds left, to leave it to 10.14.74 to 15.5.95. For the Rats, Marto_ had an excellent debut, though he lacked support in front of the sticks. RU_ had a superb game, totalling 26 touches and the rest of team spread out the goals, with the highest goal tally being 2.

PRE-MATCH:
The Swamprats last season, stormed the league, winning the minor premiership and being by far the most active side in the competiton. All this went to waste however when they lost to the Mount Buller Demons in the prelim. With the only loss in toxic, they moved on and gained the services of SpudsLoveChild from the Furies, Noobz0r from the Demons alongside 3 rookies. The Roys were seemingly happy with their off-field lot, with no new rookies brought in, but the Wolves pair of A Bit High and Willo_ came in to join them. They’d like to make the finals, as last season wasn’t an overly successful one, narrowly missing the finals. As expected in any Swamprats game, there was posting, and lots of it. With a total of 697 posts at time of writing, it was the most active thread behind, 103 posts over the 2nd thread. The 3 of Millky95, Ant Bear and Close Contest combined for a toal of 172 posts. Marto_ had a good presence, a good showing from the rookie. Willo_ had a good showing for his Roys debut, having 45 posts for his side.

It was an anti-climatic start, with it taking 5 minutes before a score was made, in the form of Fred behind. It took another 3 minutes before a goal was scored, with Allikat kicking true to put them 7 points ahead, nearly 9 minutes in. After they broke through, they scored through Chezzalenko Reborn and then Mooch. Marto_ scored the first 7 points for the Rats, in between a Reardo goal. Fred kicked another behind, before he quickly kicked straight for a goal. The Roys scored another 2, with Marto_ kicking a goal in between that, to finish the quarter at 2.1.13 to 7.2.44.
2ND QUARTER
It was all one-way traffic in the first 10 minutes to the Swamprats, but they didn’t take advantage of it, by kicking 4 behinds. Butler finally kicked straight to reduce the lead of the Roys to 21 points. They kicked another two straight, before they kicked another 4 behinds. The Roys finally scored, firstly a behind and then another Roys goal to Fred. The Swamprats will be kicking themselves, as they kicked 3.8 in that quarter, while the Roys only managed 1.1. This will most likely prove costly, because they could be dominating this game otherwise. 5.9.39 to 8.3.51
3RD QUARTER
The Roys returned to the form they showed in the 1st quarter, scoring the first behind and goal. Butler and NSWCROW kicked truly, before yet another behind, to Close Contest, followed by wharfie_1870 doing the same thing. Mobbs settled it for the Roys, before Marto_ and MannumPower kicked true, so for the first time in the game, the Swamprats were ahead, by 1 point. RU_ levelled it again followed by a quick Roys goal to leave it at 9.11.65 to 11.5.71
4TH QUARTER
The quarter was started by a captain’s goal to fitzroybowiedog, extending the lead to 12 points. Mighty P extended it out to 18 points, 9 minutes into the 4th quarter. Another goal to the captain extended it all the way out to 4 goals. In the story of the day, NSWCROW missed, and scored a behind for the Rats. Mobbenfuhrer did the opposite, kicking straight to extend it to 29 points. Another two Rats behind followed, before Macca19 kicked a goal with seconds left, to leave it to 10.14.74 to 15.5.95. For the Rats, Marto_ had an excellent debut, though he lacked support in front of the sticks. RU_ had a superb game, totalling 26 touches and the rest of team spread out the goals, with the highest goal tally being 2.
