Another thing to consider in regards to how Murphy will be remembered is that, if and a big if I know, he plays through to a third year from now, with little to no injuries, he will be pushing for 300 games. I wonder if this was a consideration at all.
And if in that third year he could do a Shane Crawford....

Murph said he was excited to be seeing out his playing days as a one-club player.

“Ultimately, it was an easy decision to put pen to paper on this new deal with the Club,” Murphy said.

This bloke was the AFLCA POTY in 2011, injuries crueled him. And he’s played some bloody good footy since.

Really pleased for all involved. Perfect outcome for the club ($$$ involved/loyalty), Murph (2yrs/1club player) and us fans.

Now to hope he gets an injury free 2+ years of just playing good, fun, winning footy with no other responsibilities.
