It's that time of the year where we're about to hit crazy season on the board.

In order to keep some order around the place, I've locked all threads except the standard ones that we have during the season - refer #5. Will leave the rate my preseason thread going until final lockout.

Any new threads that don't fit in to the standard structure will likely end up merged with either an existing suitable thread, or the General Chat thread as a catch-all.

Good luck to everyone - this is one of the toughest years to pick a starting side that I can remember.

I look forward to all these first time posters adding much rich culture to this board over the coming season.

Then round 2 comes along.........

i told you to listen to my advice Pickitt but you were too stupid.
you said I wouldn't get supercoach and now look at me.
It’s going to take a lot of work to get this team to a 2000+ scoring team.

The key thing in this game is buying low and selling high. Getting the starting team right is so important, to minimize the number of trades you need across the season.

Generally I’d look for a starting a team with a balance of:

‘Premiums’ - players who will score 90+ each week and will remain in your team for the entire year. Generally $550k or more. (Gawn, Macrae, Petracca etc)

Most teams around here would have 12+ genuine premiums in their starting team, which they hope will remain in their team for the full season, without needing to be traded at any time.

‘Cash cows’ - cheap players (sub ~$200k) that will play each week and rise in price (Daicos, Rachelle, Nick Martin, Horne-Francis etc). Having a full squad of playing players is really important, rookies who do not play, do not make $$$!

‘Mid pricers’ - players who are middle of the range, often premiums who have fallen in price, or players who are expected to take the next step due to change in club, role or natural progression (Coniglio, Hewett, Rowell etc). Generally, these are expected to step up to premium status and remain in your team all year, or at worst will jump up in price $200k and allow you to easily upgrade them to a genuine premium who may have dropped in price.

Unfortunately, at the moment, you only have a couple of genuine premiums, and no cash cows.

You have a plethora of mid-pricers, however very few of them are likely to significantly improve in output this year, so they’re not really doing their job.

I’d say before prices start moving after round 3, you need to make 6 trades to bring in as many of the cash cows as possible, and mid pricers like Lipinski, Rowell, Hewett.

You’ve come to the right place for advice, there are some genuine rippers here who are willing to help out. Unfortunately, you’ll probably cop some grief for your team in the short term too, as it’s a long way off the standard of the board. Just ignore it - we all gotta start somewhere!
thanks so much, and I'd make the changes when the teams come out yeah?

Ok. My suggestion is that you delete this team and start again. No amount of trading is going to save this mess.

Make a new team this week while the prices haven't changed. Your ranking at the end of the season will be better and you will get to learn the game better with our help.

When you make a new team, have a good read through the teams that are posted on this board. You will notice that the same players are generally pretty consistent.

The other piece of advice i would give is that you should try and have a max of 3 players from any one team. You have way too many Melbourne players for example.

Put a new team together and we'll give you feedback on it.

Hello kenties, I've been too busy to post.

Too busy sucking at Supercoach that is!!!!!!!!!!

Disastrous score of 2156 ranked 67K!!!!!!!!

As the other guys have said starting a new team is probably easiest.
I would find the best team in the top 10 and just copy that.
You need rookies that are playing so dont just copy the team ranked 1.
Where's the challenge/learning in that though?

I'm not sure Pickitt is learning much on his own.
Best hope for this year is to start a decent team and learn how the trading mechanics work.
If he keeps that team he will have quit by round 3 which helps no one.
IDK what is best.

I'd like to think that people here would help him learn.

I really think it could be be quite a rewarding challenge seeing how far up the ranks he can rise coming from a very low base.

Of course if he's not up for that challenge he's better off starting from scratch.

Would you rather take on the challenge of learning how to apply lipstick like a pro on one of these...

Or one of these?

If you've already fallen at the 'pick a decent starting team' hurdle, I know which "challenge" I'd rather spend the next 6 months engaged with. ;)

Haha! Reminds me of my first year, all those years ago. I picked a team totally random, without any studying of anyone else’s, just players I liked, posted it on some forum and got told to start again!
Looked a bit further into it and ended up with 2400 or something first round!
Thought it was easy! 🤣

That was the start of my addiction.

Peeps will give him s**t every time he posts his team.
It is hard to help him. He needs to make so many changes.
I usually don't answer teams like this because you end up arguing about players you don't think are any good.
I reckon he would get more help with a better team.

I remember picking Hayden Ballantyne and Stephen Milne then spending the next month and a half uppercutting myself repeatedly.

It would’ve been far easier to trade them out, but I’m a glutton for punishment.

Can’t remember what year it was, s**t, 2010? No idea. Not much better now.

I think I started about 2007, 2008?
I remember one thing.
I picked Pendles and he didn’t leave my side for about the next 10 years!

Ok I guess it's you're first year .

First lesson make sure you have has many playing players as possible.
Rookies to make you money to get premium players .

Try to get premium players .
One mid price one each line no more.
Get playing rookies .

This week allir goes to someone like Hewett because you got no cover.
Meksham goes as well because you have no cover.

How much cash in bank .,?

You'll have to trade hard early

Wow where do you start?

If it was me I'd be using this as a learning experience on how to maximise trades to fix a quite frankly sh*t team.

How much cash do you have in the bank?

I'd go with the booting the highest price DNPs. Not only do you need players to score you need rookies and bench players to score so they go up in value and then you can upgrade them.

I'd be looking to trade out these as a priority.
Walker (although he may play R2 if buckets is out with concussion)
Stringer
Melksham
Alir is having ankle surgery so won't be playing

Then look at who you can trade in for them.

Definitely activate boosts this week and next so you can make three changes each week.

If it was me I'd be trading out
Alir
Stringer
Melksham

That gives you $1,268,500 in cash

Move Cogs to forward line

Trade in
Daicos
Raechele
Doc/Hall/Hewett
Rowell and Lipinski should definitely be on your radar.

Bank the cash and then repeat next week with culling non players.

Keepers I see in your current team.

Backs - nil (I'd hold Rioli and Bowey)
Mids - Macrae and Petracca (but I'd hold Anderson, Cogs, Thomas)
Rucks - Gawn (on historical form)
Forwards - nil (I'd hold Brown)

Good luck in seeing how much you can improve the team over the season.

Stringer will be back this week I think.

Allir and Markham trade out first.
Then fix rookies next week.
Prob needs to use 3 trades next week tho.

Big hole to dig out of .

poor kentie. what happened? two triple trades and we can fix this..

trade 1. hayes for melksham.
trade 2. nic martin for stringer.
trade 3. daicos for weightman and sub coniglio forward.

next week.
trade 1. sicily/hewett for walker.
trade 2. rowell for brayshaw.
trade 3. heeney for butler.
