This will be one of those comfortable but frustrating wins for the Pies.

Got a feeling this will one of those frustrating tight games and where pies cant get a roll on at all.
Only realy turn it on in the last 10 mins and win by 7 points.
Be one of those flat matches and dour struggles but the pies just get over the line.

Pies comfortably.

Then they will get some key players back in, and hopefully get that glint back in the eye have a red hot crack at the flag.

I actually think it'll be closer than we expect. Teams usually bounce back a bit after performances like this. Essendon to be competitive until 3qt when the Pies kicks away. Pies by 40...unless Pies rest like half their team or something. Would behoove them to play Port too, so could see a 'tanking by selection' going on.

I hope it is a dour and brutal affair a slogfest for 4 quarters, this is a big4 game after all a primer for finals a chance for Collingwood to show everyone that their wheels are firmly fixed to their axles and for Essendon to redeem themselves on the big stage .

I think this is a bad schedule for Pies. It is the equivalent of 2 bye rounds before finals, and they could find themselves underdone with the additional question mark on returnees from injury. Then coming up against a battle tested Dees in the first final. Losing that game may be better than winning it, it will create the required urgency and extra match practice whilst a win extends downtime even further, like sleeping in silk sheets before battle.

I think I need to see a burn specialist!
First the banner, then the flogging, now the comments. GWS are merciless. :)

Pies will lose, win they finish 1st and play Melbourne in a neutral final. Lose they play Port in a home final. Will tank the loss.
Not this Pies team. Too honorable, likeable. It would be beneath them to tank. Helping a struggling team in Essendon, to win, on the other hand, that would be the honorable thing to do. ;)
But no, we'll lose. If we win, I'll drink several cold beers to punish my lack of faith.

Collingwood ending up second on the ladder would probably be best case scenario for them. Would likely face Port at the MCG which I do not see them losing.

I expect Collingwood to win this but after being embarrassed last round, Essendon shocking everyone is not out of the question.

Oh it is. It is extremely out of the question.

I’ve never quite understood this logic. What genuine premiership threat would want to manoeuvre or change their ladder position to avoid a certain opposition in September?

If you are going to win the flag, you’re going to have to play the other premiership threats at some stage in September, whether it’s week 1, or on GF day.

You never sacrifice the integrity of your team to try and meet certain oppositions in September because if you’re genuinely good enough, you’ll face them inevitably in September and beat them.
