So Cummins is stuffed. Pattinson breaks down left right and centre. Hazlewood is also injury prone.

Our once bright fast bowling future doesn't look as bright these days.

Australia paceman Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of Bangladesh after another yet injury setback.

Cricket Australia physiotherapist David Beakley said in a statement on Thursday that Cummins had experienced lower back pain in the final one-day international against England last month.

"This pain continued upon his return to Australia," Beakley said.

"He subsequently underwent an MRI scan yesterday which unfortunately has revealed a new early stage lumbar bone stress fracture.

"Consequently Pat will be unable to participate in the Bangladesh Test series and will now enter into a lengthy rehabilitation program."

Well it was good while it was lasted.

Cummins may eventually get his body right. It'll probably be just after the point when a fast bowler starts to lose pace due to the ageing process.

Waste of time.

Imagine how disappointed Cummins must be after he felt his body was coming good. I hope he can slowly work his way back and this time get a good run playing domestic cricket.

On a more positive note it is good to see Faulkner back in line for Test selection.

He probably needs to play a season of grade cricket before he plays any state cricket again.

And it is good that Faulkner is in the team even for such an unfortunate reason.

Ponting was unbelievably versatile close in, absolutely elite at cover and bat pad. Interesting about Bancroft, have never heard of a "specialist bat pad" being picked.

Apparently Logie was awesome as well, he was quicker than Boony but Boony never dropped them.
Logie was the best non slip fielder I've seen - had a super arm in him for a little fella

When a paceman gets that back fracture it spells the end of being a player at top level. Tremlett was a beast of a fast bowler and then he got struck down with back problems . He had the long process of getting back to fitness but the pace was way down on his return.
