There's no chance of Toumpas or gray being dropped in a wet slog, really should suit them.

A few showers clearing in the morning doesn't equal a wet slog. And let's say it is going to be wet, how do those conditions suit Sam Gray? In these days of pristine playing surfaces, in wet conditions it's usually the more skilled players who raise their game above all others. Maybe on the quagmire dung heaps of the 70's and 80's it might have suited Sam Gray's "slam it on the boot upfield as far as you can" style, but not anymore.

IF Howard gets dropped....
....There'll be flares
No way. He has such a young inexperienced body for a ruck. FFS he only started the regular ruck stuff after the suspensions. He's years away from a regular gig. Give him time to develop his craft. I trust Ken and Burgo on this, absolutely. He might play forward and in the ruck a couple of times during the game if he stays in.

I'd keep Stewart in the side this week although doubt that he (and Oshea) will be at the club in 2017 - he has been a great clubman.

a few times this has happened and i know it happens all the time at freo but wouldn't shock if players were listed in the correct order on AFL page

bottom 3 are (rightly or wrongly) coming out for mine.
I'm no fan of Stewart, but wow if we take our too short team from last week and take Stewart and Howard out.

Please stay fit Jacko.

Howard won't play if wingard does

I know that should make zero logic but hey #ivebeenaroundfootyalongtime

Amon may come in, he went pretty hard and was ok last week in a side getting flogged all over the ground.

Wingard won't play

Really the only change I can see them making is trengove for Howard. Not that I agree with that, but we know how our super conservative coaches operate.
Like the idea of Chad being 100% then having a week off to be certain. That he still needs to be tested tells me another week is a good idea.

Sam Gray has been a liability in much the same way Lobbe was a liability. Lobbe was there as our only recognised ruckman but unfortunately was so bad at everything else his position became more or less untenable.
Similarly, Sam Gray became an excellent centre clearance player in late 2015, but since that part of his game, the one thing he was there to do, has fallen away so drastically what else can he do? He's shown previously he can't play as a small forward, so we continue to shoe horn him into the midfield where he's having a negative impact.
Several years ago people would say "Adam Thomson (another clearance specialist) needs to find another string to his bow", well right now Sam Gray needs to find another string to his bow.

Sam is adding an extra number around the contest which indirectly has been helping the team. I'd be reluctant to drop him until a similar hard running player is available.

In a perfect world, Doogie would sew his AFL oats in the AFL as a forward before moving into the ruck - he will only ever be a pinch hitting ruck from my perspective.

I was really impressed by his performance at the family day. He didn't take a lot of pack marks but he got genuine purchase at each attempt.

Big future.

I don't mind this idea.

I would expect the same. Certainly Krakouer and DBJ will be in. Toumpas has shown a good bit in at least two games. The only one that may be different to this would be if the conditions have Ken thinking Stewart is a safer bet than Gray.

I just can't understand why anyone would accept or propose Howard as an out, unless he has spoken to our coaching team and has said he is not up to it, otherwise play him. He is different and we need that. Even with Trengove coming in. They work together, not one or the other.
Bring in Amon, take out Howard?
Bring in Trengove, leave in Stewart, and take out Howard?
Bring in Wingard, leave in Neade, Sam Gray and Young, and take out Howard?
None of these permutations make sense to me. If Howard stuffs it up this week, then put him back.

I think Trengove in the ruck may spark him into some form and maybe even show a whole new element to his game (not just relief rucking).
Rotate Howard, Trengove and Hoff in the centre ruck. Rotate each in ball ups and throw ins depending on field position. Dixon can also ruck in the forward 50. I really like this flexibility, it makes sense to me.
