But the AFL clarified the situation this week with clubs told they can operate with a mentality that any player from its list of four emergencies can be included in the starting 22 without explanation required and that the players who are late withdrawals can also all play at state league level.

Lol, meaning that named teams will now tell us absolutely nothing and coaches league-wide will avoid naming the side that will eventually line up.

Reading this, I'd say there's 0 chance we go into this game with 4 KPDs and 3 KPFs. It's a smokescreen.

Spangher earlier this week: "Bevo, I have a plan... it involves playing 12 big blokes."

Bevo: "Good plan Matty. But we'll ease into it. We'll play James this week, then add Brucey and Darce over the next 2 weeks."

Thursday, team is announced.

Rohan Smith and Bont bail up Bevo: "O'Donnell in for Treloar?! WTF?!"

Bevo: "Relax boys, Spangs has a plan. He's an ideas man. Said something about jousting sticks too, but told him to hold onto that one."

Under Bevo:

2021:
Khamis makes debut v Carlton. Bulldogs win.

2019:
Hayes and Lachie Young make their debut v Carlton. Blues win.

2017:
Lewis Young makes his debut v Carlton. Bulldogs win.

2015:
Caleb Daniel makes his debut v Carlton. Bulldogs win.

It's obvious here the key factor is only debuting one player v Carlton. Apparently we were going to also debut Buss this week until Bevo saw the above stat.

1989 round 1 v Carlton at Princes Park.

Johnny Georgiades and Phil O'Keeffe both debuted. 11 goals between them. Won by 59 points.
(It was also former Blue Mark Williams' first game for us, so maybe 3 debutants is ok?)

Either way, don't tell Bevo!

Edit: round 1 1985, Princes Park. 4 is good too:

Michael Ford - debut
Brad Hardie - debut
Allen Daniels - debut
Tony Buhagiar - first Bulldogs game

Nice vid of JOD receiving his jumper from SOD. Fletcher Roberts’ old number 18, what could possibly go wrong? 😆

Don't mind when Bev is doing unpredictable moves like these.
Like in 2015 16 when we all scratched our heads at times. But kept winning.
If he was playing the trusty same olds and being stale l would be disappointed..
They must like or see something in the son of Simon.Or they wouldn't back him in so early. Good luck to him !
an afl career starts with the first selection. i hope it is a really good one with plenty of premierships!

Dogs win confirmed

Nothing really surprising in the team. O'Donnell's has been impressive in the VFL, moreso than anyone else.

Huge game for the season though not an 9 point game. The cats were 5 and 4 last year and won every game from there.

Win and we are a top 4 contender. Lose and we are 6 to 12.

They will come out firing with all of the media attention. IF we are a better team we will absorb that early then work our way ahead.

Looking forward to see we we are given there are no best 22 available not playing

During half time of the Tigers/Cats game tonight they did a quick preview of the weekend’s games. It was literally 100% about Carlton and the expectations.

I don’t even think they have an opponent this week.
