Our W/L record against all teams

Remove this Banner Ad

Not a bad start for a new team, and would constitute a "streak" for us.

If I'm not mistaken it was our longest winning 'streak' until CC came along and won 5 straight early in 2003.

Pretty sad that it took us over 8 seasons to win more than 2 in a row.

As of round 9:

Carlton - 12-10 = 54.5%
Melbourne - 13-12 = 52%

Saints - 11-12 = 47.8% (Before 50%)
Sydney - 10-12 = 45.5% (Before 42.8%)
Richmond - 10-13 = 43.5% (Before 40.9%)
eagles - 13-18 = 41.9% (Before 40%)
Adelaide - 10-15 = 40% (Before 37.5%)

Collingwood - 8-13 = 38.1% (Before 40%)
Dogs - 7-12 = 36.8%
Brisbane - 6-11 = 35.3% (Before 31.2%)
Essendon - 8-16 = 33.3% (Before 30.4%)
Port - 7-14 = 33.3%

North - 5-12 = 29.4%
Hawthorn - 6-15 = 28.5%
Geelong - 7-18 = 28% (Before 25%)

Hawthorn made the finals for the first time in 1957. So took them one hell of a long time to just make the finals since joining the comp.
http://www.stats.rleague.com/afl/teams/hawthorn/season.html

It was a different era then - there wasn't the 'equalisation' systems in place that the AFL have these days. But yes it was a poor first few decades for the Hawks, their first 15 years had something like 4 wooden spoons and a w-l ratio of something like 30%, probably less.

Nice bit of green there Esti.

Hopefully 2 and a bit seasons will see us go on the right side of 50% against the wiggles.

*Update time*

It's looking a little healthier now with Geelong the only team left in the under 30% group.

Carlton - 14-10 = 58.3% (+3.8%)
Melbourne - 14-12 = 53.8% (+1.8%)

Saints - 11-13 = 45.8% (-4.2%)
eagles - 14-18 = 43.7% (+3.7%)
Sydney - 10-13 = 43.4% (+0.6%)
Richmond - 10-14 = 41.6% (+0.7%)

Adelaide - 10-16 = 38.4% (+0.9%)
Collingwood - 8-13 = 38% (-2%)
Port - 8-14 = 36.3% (+3%)
Brisbane - 6-11 = 35.2% (+4%)
Dogs - 7-13 = 33.3% (-3.5%)

Hawthorn - 7-16 = 30.4% (+1.9%)

Geelong - 7-19 = 26.9% (+1.9%)

- Only 3 teams we didn't beat this year - Saints, Pies and Dogs

- Carlton have further entrenched themselves as our numero uno bitches

- Our modern day bitches from across the river have jumped up 2 spots. Surely it's just a matter of time before they take up their rightful place in the top group

Nice one. Lets improve these stats with an undefeated season next year. :D

Any idea what Harvey's win/loss stats & % were pre & post 2010? wouldn't mind knowing how much that improved. I remember him & Dean Bailey had the worst win/loss ratios in the league for coaches at some stage.

Including the games he was caretaker for in 07:

Pre-2010 - 16-35 = 31.3%

Post-2010 - 30-45 = 40%

*Update time*

Not going to be pretty I'm guessing. Expecting to see a lot of red ink.

Gold Coast - 1-0 = 100%

Carlton - 14-11 = 56% (-2.3%)
Melbourne - 14-13 = 51.8% (-2%)

Sydney - 11-13 = 45.8% (+2.4%)
Saints - 11-15 = 42.3% (-3.5%)
Brisbane - 8-11 = 42.1% (+6.9%)
eagles - 14-20 = 41.2% (-2.5%)
Adelaide - 11-16 = 40.7% (+2.3%)
Richmond - 10-15 = 40% (-1.6%)

Port - 9-14 = 39.1% (+2.8%)
Collingwood - 8-14 = 36.4% (-1.6%)
Dogs - 8-14 = 36.3% (+3%)
Essendon - 9-16 = 36% (+2.7%)
North - 7-14 = 33.3% (+1.8%)

Hawthorn - 7-18 = 28% (-2.4%)
Geelong - 7-20 = 25.9% (-1%)

- woohoo we have a new temporary bitch in GC

- Adelaide have moved up into the 40%+ group

- Brisbane are the biggest movers, jumping up 5 spots into the 40%+ group

- Hawthorn have dropped back into the bottom group

- Our 40% winning record against Richmond is pretty disgraceful considering how crap they've been for our whole existence

Games played against each club:

eagles - 34
Adelaide - 27
Melbourne - 27
Geelong - 27
Saints - 26
Richmond - 25
Carlton - 25
Essendon - 25
Hawthorn - 25
Sydney - 24
Port - 23
Collingwood - 22
Dogs - 22
North - 21
Brisbane - 19
GC - 1

North must be scared of us - we've only played them twice 4 out of 17 years

If you looked at the fixture at the start of the year and saw that you got to play the dockers twice you would have to be pretty happy one could pencil in at least one and a good chance of two wins. Out of the teams we played twice Saints/Hawks/Eagles all beat us twice, 1-1 with North/Bulldogs and we beat Brisbane both times. 4-8 record against teams we play twice pretty dismal.

I did the research for this for a thread on the main board and figured I might as well post it here as well for interests sake:

Carlton - 12-10 = 54.5%
Melbourne - 13-12 = 52%

Saints - 11-11 = 50%

Sydney - 9-12 = 42.8%
Richmond - 9-13 = 40.9%
eagles - 12-18 = 40%
Collingwood - 8-12 = 40%

Adelaide - 9-15 = 37.5%
Dogs - 7-12 = 36.8%
Port - 7-14 = 33.3%
Brisbane - 5-11 = 31.2%
Essendon - 7-16 = 30.4%

North - 5-12 = 29.4%
Hawthorn - 6-15 = 28.5%
Geelong - 6-18 = 25%

A few things that surprised me:

- we have a positive record against Mebourne when I thought Carlton where the only team we could say that about

- I thought our record against Sydney would be a lot worse. Forgot that we actually had a good winning streak going against them in our early days. They were our original bunnies back then

- We've only played North 17 times in 15 years. I guess the AFL is worried they will go bankrupt if they have to host us in front of 200 of their fans too often.

Just shows how s**t we have been for 17 years! But I already knew that!

Just thought I would post current players win/loss ratios. Considering there is so many teams where we bat less than 50% there are some pretty encouraging numbers. Pav is currently 23rd.

Check out Roberton vs Suban and Clarke. He was very good this year I hope we don't lose him.

I wonder where Zac Dawson sits in the all time Freo win-loss record stakes?

Take out players that have played less than five games - would he be top 10?

Easily, I had a very quick scan and the only ex-players I could see with more than 50% were

Roger (53.1%) amazing considering the era he played in.
Croad (52.6%)
Ryan Murphy (52.1%) maybe we should have cut him more slack
Headland (50.9%)
Medhurst (50.5%)
Simmonds (50%)
