2nds Port Adelaide vs Glenelg - Round 14 @ Alberton

I couldn't really remember how he used the ball, just the way he defended. Lienert on the other hand I do remember his big kicks out of the backline.

Either way, It should be him in for Austin or Jacko going down back and a tall forward coming in but nobody is really putting their hand up.

Maybe we could rush Doogie into the power since he's missed a week and the maggies have the bye next week but I don't think the coaches will do it.
Lienert deserve an upgrade next year RossFC ?

Eddy seemed to struggle because of poor forward delivery and the Glenelg defender was a match for his pace. Eddy is so good when the ball his the deck though. He tapped it backwards off the ground between his legs to a running player which resulted in a goal.

Really scrappy game. But at the Club 1870 Jacob Surjan said Glenelg are the best contested side in the comp so the focus was on matching them there. Made for an ugly struggle for much of the match but at least we matched them for 3 quarters then broke them in the last. That's what should have happened Saturday.

Krak always looks threatening up forward. With Chad out he could be a sneaky chance. Arch did some good things and didn't mind Lobbe's game. Lienert shut down McBean who killed us in round 1.

Any danger in him kicking the ball to within 35m of any of his targets?
You speak the truth but you tread heavily. FWIW I agree. We need to be looking at all alternative/complimentaries.
Lienert looms large in 2018 and Bonner isn't short.

I'd retain him on the rookie list for another year. Also draft another KPD so Lienert can be freed up to a 3rd tall defender/back flanker role instead of a 2nd KPD so we can see what he can do since we drafted him as a flanker/winger.

I am a Hombsch lover as well and reckon we are more settled with him in our defence - BUT, his game today want one that had him knocking down the door of the 1s!

Im not sure if he has a problem with his foot, but his kicking is shocking.

He's a natural goal sneak. A fox in the box. That we haven't given him mutiple games in a row on the top stage to really find out is weird.

Such a great feeling to run away with that one at home and shut the arrogant Glenelg supporters up!

Liked the look of Lienert.
Hombsch is too good for SANFL but needs to tidy up his disposal.
Pittard still doesn't know he is a left footer. He looked to come off late with cramp in his calf and didn't come back out. May have played his last game for the Power IMO.
Would like to see Bonner at AFL level again. Will provide more line breaking ability than Broadbent.
Krak deserves another chance at some stage. His kicking is exactly what our forward line needs.
We need Johnson's pace and Amon's disposal in the side.
Young deserves to be playing AFL, if not for us then for someone else.
AhChee has all the tools to be a very good AFL footballer. Still confuses me why he can't consistently put it together at the top level.
Billy is an angry young man.
Maggies are a better side with Summo in the guts.

Billy had a reasonable game too. Finished with 17 disposals, 18 hitouts and 2 goals. Looked a bit at sea at the bounces on occasions but wound up being competitive in ruck. He's a clean mark and gets around the ground well, very athletic mover. Decent set shot as well.

He had one entertaining moment when he went for a run through the middle of the ground, had a bounce which went over his head, hammered the Glenelg player who tried to collect the loose ball then looked desperately for a handball to a runner to carry the ball away.

By reports, Lobbe played a good game today. Kicked a goal too.

I hope scouts from other clubs were at the game.
I saw Buddah Hocking was there. Lobbe to South Adelaide confirmed.

How did Palmer go?
He did ok. 25 disposals and 2 goals looks good on paper, I might be harsh on him but I still think he needs to find another gear and dominate a game like Arch did yesterday to be in line for AFL selection.

Palmer looks to me like one of those poor guys who is a tweener. He doesn't really have the pace or engine to be an on-baller (he looked absolutely shagged by the last quarter) and he's not quite big enough to play a key position. I saw him standing next to Drew and was surprised how much bigger he was than Drew.

He took a couple of good contested grabs forward, maybe he could sit in a forward pocket with the occasional run on-ball. That role is destroying Young, maybe Palmer could do it.

To me Palmer is Aaron Young-lite. I don't think he'll ever be better than Young.

Palmer's best chance at AFL level is in a specialist lead up forward role. Young has him covered generally as a player.

i've sort of hoped he could fit a good monfries type role?

He doesn't have the engine or quickness of movement that Gus has. More a third quasi-tall.

Jasper is worth a mention too. I thought he played pretty well and he showed no signs of dummy-spitting or not wanting to be playing at reserves level. He niggled bay players from the outset, left his man to provide extra spoiling and coverage for team mates and took the game on in both contested and uncontested possession.
