Positives:
  • mastens disposal is elite
  • Mckenzie, Glass, Schofield and even Brown played well in defense
  • We have finally found our midfielder who has a great finish in front of goals - Wellingham.
  • Lecras snagged 5 after looking like he was going to get subbed
  • Dalziell creates so much run for us. Disposal seems to be getting better too.
  • Cripps outrunning Heppell in that chase for the counter-attack. We have pace!! Copped a heavy knock but seemed ok when he came back on.
  • Darling had a good game roaming all over the place like Nroo and got involved in a lot of play
  • We beat the drug cheats, smashed their %, and killed their top 4 hopes. That makes up for our Subi loss against them.
  • Our melbourne fans are vocal and awesome.
Negatives:
  • Smith - just not good enough for AFL. Poor disposal, awareness, intensity and decision making. We need a quick small defender yes, but he hurts us alot with turnovers.
  • Kennedy was too unselfish. Lost his lead over Roughhead for the Coleman
  • commentators were disgraceful again, even without Darcy. Apparently Eddie feels sorry for the poor old bombers. Whatever you racist twat. Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves.

Dalziell? Good disposal? He was at 56% DE and used the ball poorly. Smith, on the other hand, had a good day, defended well, rebounded well (lead the team for R50s), 81% DE.

Dude don't bother defending Smith, he's going to be in most peoples negatives every week for some unknown reason.

Positives
Tactics - Played a spare man for much of the game, Smith and Glass I think. Was good to see Woosh doing something different and it meant our forward line was much more open and that Smith didn't have to man up much
Smith - was actually really happy with his game, seemed to kick it over 40 m almost every time he had a kick
Cripps - Speed! The goal assist to Hill showed what he can do, plus the one from the 50 against Jobe was great to watch.
Lycett - the guy doesn't know how tall he is, thinks he's just another mid
Emac & Brown - just the whole defence really, they did very well, including Butler.
Masten - just great.
Goal kicking mids - Wellingham and Razzle :D

Negatives
JK- have a shot when we are 7 goals up in the last

Positives
  • Wellingham - A couple of shanked kicks but he's a classy midfielder. Turning out to be a great pickup for the club. Just what we needed.
  • Cripps - A quiet game in patches, but loved seeing him use his speed to burn off Heppell.
  • The tall timber down back worked well together. I liked Brown's game.
  • Razzle - Turning into a quality midfielder. You could see it on his face that his confidence is up.
  • Darling - Always like his endeavour.
  • LeCras - Still unsure how he kicked 5. Looked gone early in the game.
Negatives
  • Bleeding heart Eddie McGuire.

Positives (IN GREEN FONT FOR EXTRA FUN!!)
- OUR DEFENCE, allowed 9 goals from 60 inside 50s
- OUR FANS, you laughed, you cried, you had a ball
- WELLINGHAM, good pace, hard running and kicks goals
- CRIPPS, a couple of great goals and brilliant individual efforts including outrunning Sheppel and copping a hit from Fletch
- PRIDDIS and MASTEN, noticable that they got more of the ball in space than usual and played really well
- MARK LECRAS, the nemesis of Essendon, injured but returned to kick 5 second half goals

Negatives (IN ESSENDON RED, MAYBE IRONIC BECAUSE OF ALL THEIR POSITIVE TESTS)
- KENNEDY, you have to be a bit more selfish to avoid tarnishing the coleman medal for ever by letting a player like Big Rough win it
- DARLING, played like a beast but made some really dumb decisions that gifted the bombers goals
- MCGINNITY, just not a very smart footballer unfortunately
- COMMENTATORS, get your collective tongues out of Essendon
- SECURITY, played like the Essendon defence allowing a drunk yahoo two chances to bring the game into disrepute, which is more than a Bomber needs.

+ Thought Smith was really good today. Had one or two brain fades but provided some great run and delivered some brilliant kick-ins.

+ Masten and Wellingham are just class, pure class.

+ Cripps using his speed!

+ Sheppard's very good last term as sub, showed some promising signs.

+ Darling worked his arse off, even when things weren't going his way, and reaped the rewards.

+ Vintage Lecca!

+ If EMac doesn't make the AA side he will be officially robbed. So much love for him.

+ Adam Hunter Will Schofield

+ Essendon have someone named Kommer, who may just be the worst player in the league.

+
  • the Defence generally: Butler back to good form, Glass as solid as usual, especially one-on-one and Eric's shoulder shrugging runs out of congestion.
  • tackling all over the ground, real commitment
  • Wellingham living up to the hype
  • Cripps burning off Heppell
  • eyes lowered delivery into the forward line, accompanied by good spread by the forwards
  • Le Cras getting confidence back
  • Essendon crowd
-
  • deciding not to go today because I couldn't face losing to that mob of ignorant, cheating ferals

As Craig Hutchison would say on Footy Classified about the Masten comment above, "Bad call, silly call". He's improved a lot since his days of pinpointing passes to the opposition, but he's certainly not elite yet.

And It's odd that a man who started the game level on goals with Roughead, then kicked a goal to go 1 ahead, could be accused of losing the lead.

I would have his kicking in the B+ to A area. Certainly bordering on elite.
