Game Day Round 23: Adelaide v St Kilda (Farewell Truck)

Trcuk has been more than solid. He's a club great who took care and embarrassed some mighty fine footy players in his time
He pants-down embarrassed Tredrea and Hall for fun on a recurring basis, viciously so when it really counted, like finals.

Solid players can't reach that level as often as he did for as long as he did. That's the mark of great players.

If anything, the dead rubber nature of the game yesterday was positive. With nothing to play for, West Coast's margin against Gold Coast was obviously insurmountable and it would have been distracting to vainly chase the finals in that last quarter. It was what it was: a dead rubber thrashing, so someone even started a Mexican wave that went around the oval a few times, and that was fun. It felt like a light-hearted wind-up of Truck and Lenny Hayes' careers, and we were just waiting for the siren. Then Truck kicked that goal and it was magical. I've seen the crowd get more excited than that, but never so happy as that. Overall, a feel-good afternoon.

Didn't truck play every minute of a season for a couple if years in a row? Was a very durable players aswell.

And at one stage something about being the only player who played every minute on the field in games, everyone else interchanged for a break at some point.

A very durable and reliable Truck.

I actually kind of liked Jenkins down back, made a few blunders but it might be worth persisting with in games where we don't require the extra tall up forward, especially with Lynch back in to play a genuine mobile third tall role and let Pods play as a genuine second key forward instead of the swingman/psudo-third tall we've used him as this year.

Certainly in favour of this. Did anyone see early in the first quarter when Douglas gave the ball off to another mid to avoid a saints player, and rather than shepard to protect his team mate, peeled off as a piss weak option to retrieve the ball back?

Team mate kicks hurriedly due to pressure, ball rebounds back toward saints goal. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with our mob. No one other than Tex, Sloane, Pods and Thommo appear to shepard. It's what good teams do. It's unselfish footy.

If you're ever at the ground, look at all the work Tex does off ball. Its nothing short of awesome. Constant niggling of the defender, continual bumping, and will wipe them out every chance he gets if they get near a team mate with the ball.

That was because he couldn't run all the way to the interchange

158 games without an interchange

50 odd in front of 2nd place since they started tracking that particular stat

A lot of Defender on that list. Scarlett and Morris are in the top 5 for sure
