Who to believe? Rudd and Gillard tell their own stories along with their colleagues to Sarah Ferguson.

Should be interesting. Rudd is a nutter, according to many colleagues and had to go, but did Gillard have clean hands as she always claimed?

Shorten refused to participate - his role may become clearer in helping to get rid of 2 PMs.

Looks like a ripping political doco

Going from the clips shown to date, you don't need a degree to know that Rudd was an egotistical maniac.
Just look at his face when he is answering.

Does anyone aside from Labor people care? This was covered incessantly for over three years by the press gallery.

Guest starring Bill -the knife - Shorten as Dr Shadow in a heartwarming portrail of the labor family, infanticide and sibling cannabalism.

Rated R

Thought you were going to type Bill Hunter since he's in every Australian production made since 1970.

I'll be watching this, I never believed a word that came out of Rudd's mouth, this may change my views. I'm not very hopeful.

It's on now and my stomach is turning with sickness to see those deceiving incompetent labor socialist criminals.

Until he died like five years ago.

Say what you will about the merits of moving Howard on, but for the life of me I can't see what attracted people to this total phony as much as they were at one point in time.

I thought it odd that he was AS popular as he was. That said, the response to the GFC was quite good. It also gave Rudd purpose, which he seemed to lack before it and, as we soon discovered, after it also.

Thought Rudd came out of that episode looking a lot better than Gillard. It will be interesting to see what happens next time.

People get sucked in by smooth talkers, but smooth talkers raise the hairs on the back of my neck.

I wish people would learn to listen to the substance , not the smooth delivery.

Combet proving once again that he was the best chance the ALP had.

Rudd is a piece of s**t.
Latham is a piece of s**t.

They are both unhinged, and the fact that the ALP was willing to sell its soul and put not one, but both, of those *******s in the position to be the Prime Minister of this country is a disgrace, and something they got away with way too lightly.

This is still the most laughable opinion ever, given your five year defence of Cameron Schwab.

It's like a lovely reunion this thread. All those who used to be regulars here posting what a bag of s**t the last government was, while fail to cast their critical eye over the current one in a similar manner. Warms the cockles of my heart it does.

You are right. The last government WAS a bag of s**t.

Don't get me wrong, this current Govt is s**t too, but I doubt any Govt will ever challenge the previous Gillard/Rudd govt as the most dysfunctional and s**t of all time...

OF ALL TIME.

After watching one episode and reading Paul Kelly's book, I would make these points:

1. In early clips of Gillard, it was so refreshing to hear her speak like a normal person. What happened? I always thought part of the appeal of the misogyny speech was she spoke like a normal person would do when angry.
2. Combet is talent. The fact that this whole sordid mess exhausted his enthusiasm for public office is disappointing, as the ALP needs more like him.
3. The point is glossed over in the TV show, but the very things that made Rudd effective during the GFC make him totally ineffective in more normal times.
4. I cannot imagine working with a PM who never signed or approved anything. This at the very least would have engendered a great loyalty to Gillard.

Actually not a big fan of Rudd but seeing and being reminded of the GFC and he seeing it well before others was really interesting, shame he forgot he was a PM and not a President.

Gillard did not cast herself in a very good light. Admitted she broke her promise to back Rudd for 2 elections. Admitted she talked to colleagues behind Rudd's back about how to deal with him, but didn't offer any evidence she raised her concerns with Rudd directly. As usual Rudd seems a bit weaselly, but the stuff that others said about him was all pretty complimentary.

Looking back at that old footage, it was interesting to be reminded what capable politicians Rudd and Gillard were in the early days. The way they undid themselves and each other is very disappointing. If they had been a little less ambitious and selfish, and a little more collaborative, they could have been a very good team leading a very good government.
