Thought it would be interesting to see where everyone ranks our current lineup. The story of Howe's manager wanting $650k a season made me think of it:

My order:
Jones
McDonald
Hogan
VandenBerg
Garland
Vince
Lamumba
Tyson
Salem
Garlett
Jetta
Dunn
Jamar
Newton
Kent
Brayshaw
Michie
Cross
Howe
Dawes
JKH
Watts

We've got a salary cap, they all want their piece of the pie, so how would you chop it up?

Are you saying hogan and Vandenburg should be the 3rd and 4th highest paid players in the team ?
Yep. Obviously that's not the case, but if we were starting with a clean slate, this is the order of importance to the team IMO, and therefore where they should sit on the dollars list.
Who within the club is responsible for contract management and staying within the salary cap? Is it Josh Mahoney?

That's ridicolous mate

You don't pay two 4 game players the highest amount in your salary cap

How can you justify Vanders getting more than dunn, Garland, tyson, Vince , lumumba, jamar etc

Hogan being paid because we are scared of losing him could be justified

I'm curious as to how clubs go about setting an offer for a player. I'm sure it wouldn't be as lint as 'we think you are the x best player on the list so we are going to offer you $' but there would have to be some form of real time internal ranking. I know it's a big call but that's where I'd have VandenBerg. I do think he's more important than all those below him. It's based on four games because that's all he's played, and it's meant to be a here and now ranking. In 12 months Brayshaw will probably be much higher but who knows. This is how I see it now.

You reward years of service before you award money based on a potential on a scale
A 4 game rookie deserves nothing yet no matter how impressive he has started

Under your system every single bloke who plays 5 good games in a row would be demanding 600k

vandenBerg #1 for me (20 milion over 12 years?)
Salem #2
N.Jones #3
Hogan about 9th or 10th. Why bother paying him if he's going to go to Fremantle anyway.
Don't need to pay Howe much, he just needs to sell some of his cars to get pay parity
Would offer Dawes a performance-based contract with $50k per contest mark
Give McDonald a base contract of 1 mil and then subtract $10k for every clanger
etc

Macca and dawes getting there sherrifs badge rammed hard there

McDonald will owe the club by round 5 and Dawes will be at centrelink claiming the doll due to earning under 600 bucks a fortnight

Also Jacky boy should be paid in marketing value , every article or mention should earn him 5 bucks

You should be our football operations manager!
I love Dawes incentives. Give Watts $20k for every hardball get.

I calculated all first and second year players at $70k a season and rookies at $55k. I also used the rule that 10% of a veterans wage (Jamar & Cross) had a 10% discount, which may or may not be wrong. According to this we were at 95% of the salary cap

Holy s**t, that is a committed post right there. You know the difference between committed and involved? Bacon and eggs, the pig is committed, the chicken is involved.

I don't know why you did it but I like that you did.
Downtime at work and the bonus of being an accountant is I
I'm not sure I really understand the thread. Is this what they are earning, or what they should be earning?
I did my calculations based on what I believe they would be earning

Are rookies really only paid $55k?! I hope Heisenberg is on more than that... Dawes would be looking at a fair pay cut.

sivart decent effort that.

I think you're a little overweight on Jetta (given he was a rookie upgrade) and maybe underweight on Pedersen (had to trade him in).
I thought Jetta resigned a new 2 year deal at the end of last season and since his form was pretty good I thought about $300k a year for 2 years seemed about right. And didn't Pederson get offered a 4 year deal? So I figured since he struggled to get a game for North $900k over 4 years seemed like a good deal for him.
