What about all dem illegals, you scared of them? Is that why you want them locked up, and tortured? There's no humanitarian rationale for this policy, I can only assume it's fear that drives your support of it.
Who in their right mind wants to import a religious underclass that is terrible at assimilating and incredible at welfare exploitation?

That's 4400 UN processed refugees who won't have the (per capita equivalent) $144,000 AUD to pay a people smuggler like this family did.
Per capita equivalent? What new BS is this?

They paid over $US6,500 (roughly $AU8,000) for the final two-hour leg of their journey from Bodrum to Kos.
"After more than two hours of driving the boat had lost air, water had leaked into it, the refugees were soaked when they arrived at the shore. They were then completely relieved to have arrived safely," the 34-year-old photographer told German-speaking news site Speigel.

Credit to you for owning up to your bigotry rather than pretending to be concerned about people drowning at sea, or people smugglers.

So we are back to you being so stupid, you believe Labor on this, despite all the current agitating on the issue from the likes of Plebish*t & what Labor did in 2008.

You are what they call a useful idiot.
Ah lost the discussion and now come the insults.
You really should get a job or a hobby or even some volunteer work.Too much time on you hands.

The deliberate failure to acknowledge mistakes, and a subsequent refusal to learn from mistakes, would easily rank #1 on the stupid human scale....#2 is to place blind faith in those intent on repeating those same mistakes.

Its a bit like seeing footage of cringeworthy lovestruck zitsqueezers squealing for Justin Bieber at a supermarket appearance. Sometimes its best you just look away and hope they grow up fast.

Actually I underestimated:

Per capita income in Syria 2010 - ie just before civil war which was last time it was recorded according to this link: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/syria/gdp-per-capita

$US 1700 = AUD 2300.

Per capita income Australia in 2014: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/australia/gdp-per-capita

US $37825 = AUD $51, 873.

Which means that a Syrian paying $8000 AUD to a people smuggler is outlying a huge amount of money - 3.5 times the average annual per capita income.

In Australia that would be the equivalent of paying $181,555 (51 873 x 3.5) if he/she were paying in Australia.

I mention this only to illustrate the old point understood by the Paris Aristotles of the world that refugees and migrants paying people smugglers have access to huge amount of cash in Australian terms which they use to sideline the impoverished in UN reffo camps.

The other main point is that Australia is resettling 4400 refugees from Syria and Iraq. If Labor were still in power all of these places would be going to people smuggler customers.

Australia paying over 2 billion per year on detention of AS, what does it get in return?
88 children still in detention, despite ScoMo conning Muir into agreeing to legislation last year.
Accusations of assaults, rape, self harm, torture, nothing done about it. Dumdum Dutton refers to Senate enquiry as kangaroo court.
Trigg accused of bias, Heydon an honourable man.:drunk:
No actions to date on either HR or Moss reports.:drunk:
Promised transparency yet this is the most secret government ever. On water matters not discussed.:drunk:
Nauru and PNG do not have a resettlement policy.:drunk:
Yep this country is in good hands.:drunk::drunk::drunk::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

How dare a desperate man pay money to get his family to a safe place

You can tell GuruJane knows he's on dodgy ground by the fact he doesn't even quote me when answering what BS relativism this "per capita equivalent" is.

By this 'logic', Syrians pay $1.43 for 1L milk so that's the equivalent of $32.29 for Australians!!!! They're rich!!!!

If they are in Indonesia
Aren't they already in a safe place?
Indonesia is not a signatory to the Refugee Convention. There's no obligation to treat them humanely, they can't work, their kids can't go to school, and they risk deportation at any time. Refugees in Indonesia are marginalised, and forced to live life on the fringes, so in short, no, they're not safe.

So a lot safer than Syria then

I'm not
Still safe in W.A.
But how far out of Syria do these people have to be to be considered safe?
Sydney shouldn't be the answer
So you assume we're speaking about someone in Indonesia and you are told that we aren't. But you still go ahead and assume you know something about it ("Sydney shouldn't be the answer"). Why do you expect anyone to take your input seriously when you are so sure of yourself with so little reason to be?

Didn't you post something about foreigners taking our jobs just recently? Some union thing about the horrors of FTA and foreigners?

wasn't that fear?

Hmmmn -if Syrians are having to pay $1.43 per litre of fresh milk on incomes of $AUD44 per week then clearly if they want to provide milk protein to their family then it is going to cost them a great deal more of their income %wise in comparison to an Australian, say with two children, who paying around a paltry $1 a litre on an average gdp income of $1000 a week as opposed to $44.
Further indicates that Syrians able of paying AUD$8000 to people smugglers are very well off and resourced compared to their unfortunate impoverished brethen in UN camps.

Bodrum looks horrifying.

"Although more than a million tourists flock to its beaches, boutique hotels and clubs each summer, Bodrum (Halicarnassus in ancient times) never loses its cool. More than any other Turkish seaside getaway, it has an enigmatic elegance that pervades it, from the town's grand crowning castle and glittering marina to its flower-filled cafes and white-plastered backstreets. Even in the most hectic days of high summer, you can still find little corners of serenity, in the town and especially in its outlying coastal villages.
