PS5 The Last of Us Part 1 - rebuilt from the ground up for PS5 and PC - 2 September

Entertainment is lacking originality in general across the board. If it's not a remake or remastered game that nobody asked for it's another ******* marvel/DC movie or TV show. I'm usually content to let others just enjoy what they want but my biggest peeve with this particular remake is that there is a playable remastered version on the PS5 already. It's not like Demon Souls for example which unless you still have a PS3 then it's unplayable. I care about a story driven game being recreated or given a new coat of paint as much as I care about a new and reimagined Batman. This year has been a total slog. Everyone is different and after different things but I'm almost entirely after new experiences these days. After Destiny I think UE5 has my second most hours in anything gaming related this year. Especially after I bit the bullet and accepted using blueprints.
Yep, I agree.

Elden Ring has been good, a few other games but not much has grabbed me either. I've been playing Vampire Survivors lately, really testing out the PC on that one but it has a fun hook.

I'm not firm against remakes but there needs to be a decent uplift in visual quality along with some expansion of/to the gameplay - I'm not seeing that so far in the trailers (and besides, the remastered version is more than adequate visually).

Will hold out for a look at the final product upon release before making a decision.

I'll get it if the Firefly Edition becomes available at retailers here for pre-order. That box / case looks fantastic.

Why not just develop a new game though?
Perhaps they're clearing the pipes and working out what the new hardware can do?

Perhaps they are developing a new game that we don't know about?

In any case, I loved the original but I don't remember that much of it specifically, so the chance to play a modernized version that pairs with 2 is super exciting for me and no doubt millions of others.

I think some people just have to realise that not every single game is going to be for them.

People can decide this isn't worth it to them personally without it also having to feel offended and consider it to be a disgrace, a sellout, a cash grab, or whatever; and then needing to make that point publicly until everyone bloody agrees! Or they can just get mad and make sure everyone knows, I guess 🥴

Just asking a harmless question mate! Love both games.

What most people are forgetting ND are once again a two team studio and I'd bet alot of money ND are only the director lead in this project and all the support studios Sony has recently purchase are doing the majority of the heavy lifting. ND are working on Neils new project, the stand alone multiplayer game and this.

Bolded comment is spot on.
In terms of storylines and what have you, you could make an argument that originality isn't really something you can have, as everything evolves from something preceding it. Most of the time, originality has less to do with actual originality and more to do with breaking down borders or taboos in storytelling. The basic stories have all been told, in their base forms, only the settings change, and the manner in which they're told.
It'd be interesting, for example, to see how something like the movie "Caligula" from the late '70's holds up if it were remade now. But back then, my my. Mainstream rape pr0n, before the censors got hold of it. I wasn't allowed to watch it, but of course I did. And that was before we ever had the likes of Pornhub - haha, I was just reminded of that scene from The IT Crowd where they're reminiscing about how long it used to take to download a picture of a naked woman.

Music is much the same, the prevalence of sampling now is overwhelming, but passes unnoticed among the younger generations who never heard or didn't pay attention to the originals.
Example being Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" which is sort of a hybrid Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London musically and Bob Seger's Night moves lyrically.
Which is not to say I don't like it (because I (somewhat guiltily) do), it's just important to know that it isn't in any way original.

But on the topic of younger generations, there are a lot who've never played The Last of Us at all. That was released in 2013, which is near on 10 years ago now. If they sell 50,000 copies of an old game remastered (and by the sounds of it redone), then why not?
It was a good game, great story, and deserves a re-release. You'd spend as much in one good night at a club, and you'd get a lot more hours of entertainment out of it into the bargain.

Why the * so much? bloody hell.

Yeah that’s steep, I get it’s ‘rebuilt’ but it’s still a game that was released in 2013.

I don’t have a PS5 but I’m keen to play the remastered version on the PS4. Loved TLOU Part 2, but this one is so much better, easily one of the best games ever for me, we really didn’t need a second game.

Interested to read the reviews tomorrow, I wonder if anyone will shoot Bambi…

If there are some good improvements I’ll pick it up, otherwise it’ll be a good twitch watch.

They seem to have changed the amount of items dropped. im playing on hard and in the first encounter one of the guys dropped 6 bullets. and after taking everyone out in stealth at the docks i have 20 bullets + 4 in the gun.

I thought the game on hard had a cap of about 12 extras. Unless its because the last few times i played the PS4 version was survivor and grounded.

EDIT: so it looks like 20 is the most you can have. because i had 18 and found another 6 on the ground but it only added 2 the my inventory. and the next gun i found it said "full"

It still feels like more than the game used to let you have.
