What do Essendon stand for as a club? What is their culture, fanbase, what makes them unique?

We may have finally hit ground zero and fingers crossed the man even Essendon supporters know is the toxic cancer may finally be removed

Well maybe not.
Here is a quote from CEO Vozzo in a foxsports article on 15 August suggesting GM List & Recruiting Adrian Dodoro will again be in the chair in 2024.
Also from the same article, evidence Mathew Lloyd is still enjoying the club “Kool Aid” 🤣🤣

There is always mention of coateries and groups behind the scenes. Who are there people and why don’t they contribute to the club in an official capacity?

they have nothing but a gifted anzac day game every year. it's all that keeps them relevant. afl have got to stop looking after the so called 'big 4'. the only reason they remain 'big 4' is afl deliberately scheduling and marketing them as such, to maintain their supporter base, rather than promote all teams and grow supporter bases across the comp.
btw you can't ask people to discuss a teams identity and then ask them not to discuss the very thing that most defines their identity to most other supporters.

That has been ceased. The new Board and CEO have made changes to ensure a distinct separation of the footy dept and supposedly influential coteries. That's the sort of cultural anchor of the past thst is being removed. There will always be disgruntled supporters, but the separation and lines of communication have changed.

Exactly what the coteries that run the club would want everyone to believe.

Bombers are stuck in the 90s, I have no doubt they will remain there for a long time to come.

They are part of the big 4 because they have 85,000 + members, they get big numbers to games and they generate a huge TV audience.

Thats why the big 4 are the big 4. Stkilda not matter how good will never achieve it, and it has nothing to do with AFL marketing

First things that come to mind when I think about Essendon:

1999 preliminary final
Dank/Drugs/ASADA
6000+ days without finals
Dodoro's list management (lol)
Kyle Riemers

Honestly not much else. Club's bordering on irrelevant at this point.
In 2000 they probably had the best team of the last 30 years.

If GC ever get there act together under Hardwick and win a final before the Bombers it would be the final insult for the poor fans.

I have a few mates who I have met on my travels overseas who are essendon fans who were born in the late 90s and missed 99-01 period.

They find it hard to believe they were such a a successful club because they have yet to see it with there own eyes.
