Still has much to learn to get on Kruezer's level

Your s**t is weak.

Kicking a 100, whilst winning goal and mark of the year, top3 in the Brownlow, taking out the doggies BnF and making the AA team as FF.

Not asking for much really, just incremental improvement.

Has anyone seen a game Boyd has played and got exited?
I havent. He definatley dosent look like a number 1 pick.

To be fair most who read your posts can tell you don't watch much football.

Try the hawthorn game this year or the first game against Brisbane (where he actually got to play on a defender his own age)

Oh wow..he played on a player his own age and played well?
Well maybe we should ask the AFL to only allow clubs to let players play on players their own age so its more fair?
IMO he will come good in 2-3 more years when he learns to run and jump at the ball.
The problem non-dogs fans have is the amount of money that you have thrown at him and he has done nothing and wont for a few years.

Watch the hawthorn game then. You've missed the point as badly as captain cotch missed the elim final in regards to your first point by the way.

As for the bolded - why is that your problem? Jealous a 19 year old is making more in a year than you'd make in a decade?

Tom Boyd makes more money a year than the whole on the western suburbs.
Well except the drug dealers over that way.

Boyd had more possessions in his last game of the year than Cotchin had in his... :$

Boyd had a bigger impact in the Dogs final than Cotchin did in Richmonds.... And Boyd wasn't selected....

And you paid him $41,666.66 to do nothing :thumbsu:

Cool, Geelong are paying Boyd's salary now...... Why is everyone so angry at the Dogs then, if we're not even paying his wages..... Or is this just further evidence that Cotchin and those associated with him aren't very bright....

Yes Boyd should become a nice player in time for the Doggies but is there any chance of not being a w***er?
If we couldn't discuss anyone earning more $$$ than us, bigfooty would be a bloody quiet place..

Discuss their footy by all means. It's a football forum.

What they are being paid is their business really, unless you'd like to openly discuss your wage and let us wonder if you really deserve it

The fact he is on $1,000,000 p.a is clearly relevant.

Not sure why you are trying to stick your head in the sand about it. Those are the facts.

Is Boyd going to be overpaid throughout his whole contract? Definitely!

Does this mean he won't be a good player? Definitely not.

Has a lot of work to do to get to AFL standard level let alone elite status at the moment though.

Agreed for the most part - he may actually be good value for money by the end (I think next year is stratospherically high, then decreases) of his contract. But on the salary issue the discussion should be at least sensible. In the last few pages we've had people criticizing his 2015 form because he's getting paid more in 2016 - perhaps we should wait to see how he performs next year before we judge on next years output. We've also had people saying that Geelong are paying his salary.... We've also had Saints fans trumpeting their clubs decision to re-write Carlisle's contract due to off-field indiscretions, whereas Boyd has been a model citizen... So the discussion hasn't been particularly relevant in recent times. And while salary should come into the discussion, so should the position the Dogs were in at the time....

As I've said on numerous occasions, I think we are overpaying - perhaps we could have grabbed him for 800K per year, but I wasn't involved in the negotiations....

If you conducted a draft with all the forwards under 22 it would be interesting to see where he would be picked.

I think it would depend on how the size v mobility viewpoint is from the various clubs and recruiters...

He's clearly not at the top of that draft list at the minute, although he was rated as the best on the AFL website a few years back (although that could have just been ongoing GWS propaganda). He has the potential and from what I saw in the VFL late last year, is certainly not afraid to work on his game and adapt as required. Just needs to step it up at the top level.
