Damian Monkhurst is F/T at Hawthorn.
They haven't cut his job because of the tax.
Because teams who like to win multiple flags know how important it is.

Surely Collingwood learnt its lessons after Lions rucks destroyed ours in succcesive gfs. Then in 07 again lost the game in the ruck and couldn't develop a young ruck to save ourselves in part due to having a non ruck teaching a specialised field for a decade of failures.
Finally in 2010 we get ourselves a half decent ruck and the ball game changes but even then Jolly had to seek his former clubs ruck coach for assistance when he hit a form slump as ours was farkin clueless.

I hope the Monkey rumour is true.:D

I mentioned Ceglar, not to stir the pot, but to emphasise the importance of getting this right. We absolutely cannot let this slide. Grundy and Witts need a ruck coach. Witts needs to learn some mongrel, and how to better use and elevate that considerable frame of his. Grundy needs to learn how to channel his innate mongrel, and to use it to our advantage.

To misquote Bucks, I want the rest of the competition to worry about our big guys.

Make it happen Pies. This will shape our next decade.

The worry for me is Eddie is putting his crusade against the AFL about the tax ahead of our best interests.
Andrew Newbold said recently.
'We will not be cutting staff in our key areas to appease the football tax'
They will not sack their ruck coach and kicking coach and not replace them.

I hope to god that's true. Would love to have the big man back where he belongs.

Can we get Shaun Rehn from Port Adelaide? He is now an experienced assistant and was responsible for turning Lobbe, once seen as a complete dud, into one of the good rucks in the AFL.

I read it an article someplace and mentioned it in a thread back in June. I don't know the source. It might have been from the Hawks board:

'Hawks' supporters are very happy with Ceglar. There is a claim that the Hawks were surprised at how little actual ruck training Ceglar had been given at Collingwood.'

More likely that he had been given little time playing in the ruck. With Hudson, Witts and Grundy often all running around in the reserves it is no surprise that he got shunted to full forward.

Ceglar is a spud. He lucked out and found himself in a good team that is light on for ruck stocks... and got dropped for the GF.

I'm sure the pies are going to ensure they do everything they can to allow Grundy and Witts to develop.

He would have been a handy back up ruck given the loss of Hudson and the talk of needing a reserve ruck.

So Ed's Crusades against the AFL is hurting the Club then he is NOT doing a good job as President then.

He should be trying to help the Club to be the best it can be and get the best people. Not hurting the Club by letting people go and not signing people we need

I'd rather pay a bit extra and prop up other clubs if it meant we were getting the right people in to help us succeed. A ruck coach would be extremely important component this year. I am nervous that we don't have one, especially if we are trying to develop a wild prospect like Mason Cox.

Someone needs to pull Ed into line.
The trouble is no one at the club is possible of doing so.
Hawthorn's president has said he won't cut highly valued staff and important offield jobs to appease the football tax.
His crusade against the AFL is fine but if it effects this club because he won't replace cut staff then he needs to be pulled into line.

I'm sorry but how do you know what Ed is or isn't doing behind the scenes?
Do just make stuff up as you go along because it certainly seems like it.

Ed has recently cut staff and he has indicated he can't replace them because of the tax.
What he is doing behind the scenes is irrelevant, we are bowing to the AFL whilst a club such as Hawthorn, sticks to it's guns by retaining it's staff

Has he said specifically which ones we will and won't be replacing? Pretty sure he'd know the importance of each roll and would know whether or not they need replacing.

Hawthorn are doing it inside of the allowance, a model we are trying to replicate no doubt.

I'd be happy if we just got someone in part time to do some work with these guys but there certainly does appear to be a shortage of experienced ruck knowledge within the club.

Have we ever really rated ruckman though?

I'd be happy if they had a roster of former ruckmen attending training sessions to pass on their insights but ultimately need someone more permanently at the club to do it. Seen a few pics where Rocca has been putting the rucks through their paces. Not sure that's the answer.

Always ask Matt Rendall to take a few sessions as a fall back position.

We need a ruck coach/specialist. Full stop. With two such promising young ruckmen, it would be negligent to not give them every possible support and assistance to reach their potential. Didnt the Hawks comment that Ceglar wasnt trained/coached properly, hence they grabbed him after we delisted him? Nuff said.

Was that about the training he was offered or his attitude to it?
