Josh Fraser to Be Named Collingwood Captain

Difference is, Burns doesnt have any injury concerns. He's as fit as he's ever been, in fact injury-wise, he's fitter now than he was in his mid 20's. A modified training programme for his geriatric status as a veteran in the game should not preclude him from the captaincy.

I think it will, one of the considerations would surely be regarding our exodus of leaders, and reckon that they would want to appoint a captain who will be out on the track for every session.....Burns aint that man.

His match day role will be exactly the same as it has been for the last decade, and he will be a leader on-field as he always has been.

Spoke to Licuria at my cousins house in early december and he told me this, said it should have gone to Burnsy but Mick pissed him off when he took the vice captincy away from him? something like that, and thats why he has refused it and josh would get it.

I said fitness permitting, if Fraser is still having issues with his back he will opt out of the role as he did at the end of last year when he couldn't get on the park.

He's had injury issues for the past five years. What difference will a couple of weeks make? If Fraser is the best man for the job, then fair enough. Those inside the club know best. But injury or ability to get out on the park, will not or should not be a major consideration.

In other words, if time on the park excludes Burns (no injury concerns, just age) , it should also exclude Fraser (constant back and knee issues)

If true, he would have to be the softest player to ever be captain. What a disgrace! The man is an absolute pea heart.

The never took the vice captaincy away from him he stepped down. He mentioned it a few times in interviews and said it was because of Buckley and was unlikely to ever have the captaincy as Buckley always will as long as he played so there was no point being vice captain.

Thank you for such a relevant contribution to this thread.

Back on topic, I still want Sir Scott to take the role, if not him then Tarkyn. From there it can be handed onto one of the many young, developing leaders down at the Lexus Centre.
