When I think back to the Andrew Topakas issue, I reckon the fault lies not with the VAFA,or Andrew Topakas, but with Old Melburnians. If Topakas wanted to leave OM's, then the Redlegs should've said 'OK, no problems', not make it into a big issue. The then OM's president Rick Pisarki told the VAFA about Topakas being offered a loan of $6000 by an Old Brighton supporter, but Topakas later said there was no figure mentioned and he didn't want to stay at OM's. By a strange coincidence, Old Melburnians got into trouble with the VAFA, lost premiership points (later relegated to B Section) and ended up taking the VAFA to court over the issue. The Supreme Court found in favour of the VAFA and also awarded costs. So, I think the blame should've been laid at Old Melburnians-not Andrew Topakas.
