Given that the Richmond rucks are unlikely to be a big threat I think we'll go in minus Hampson AND Kreuzer for precautionary reasons; I think the line-up with Walker and Fisher out due to injury will be as follows:

B: Ryan Houlihan, Michael Jamison, Heath Scotland
HB: Richard Hadley, Jarryd Waite, Bret Thornton
C: Kade Simpson, Nick Stevens, Marc Murphy
HF: Jake Edwards, Adam Hartlett, Bryce Gibbs
F: Darren Pfeiffer, Brendan Fevola, Eddie Betts
FOLL: Cameron Cloke, Chris Judd, Andrew Carrazzo
I/C: Cain Ackland, Ryan Jackson, Paul Bower, Dennis Armfield

EMG: Setanta O'hAilpin, Jordan Russell, Shaun Grigg, Adam Bentick

Eddie will have to do something to keep his spot and I'm not entirely happy with having Houlihan in the back-pocket (prefer his creative play up the ground and obviously worried about his capacity to mind his man when the opposition have the run of the play). Setanta's aggression is sorely needed down-back but concerned about his fitness/weight at the moment: really need to let him grow into a backline position though this year - when the chips are down we can always invigorate CHF by playing our wildcards Setanta or Waite (both should be groomed as pinch-hitters at CHF); Hartlett will get his chance and hopefully he doesn't get injured! Would like to see an aggressive and hard small up forward - Pfeiffer or Armfield. Unfortunately, Ackland in by default for one week; would prefer to give Aisake a go in the absence of Kreuzer and Hampson but I hear he's carrying an injury at the moment and is underdone. Would love to have found a spot for Browne and I'm sure Joe Anderson will get a run later in the year (pity his pre-season was interrupted). Looks like we've got a bit of depth (on paper at least).

One major change is Waite has to play in the backline. If u saw the game v the dogs it was only when Waite went deep into the backline that we were able to stop an otherwise ordinary bulldogs fwd line marking everything that was kicked in there.

Guys we have Hartlett and Edwards who both look very good so Waite has to play back and in fact he must play on Richoman.

Edited:
Agree - looked at my team on paper after I posted and it was different to what I'd had in mind (Freudian slip having Waite at CHF and didn't mean to have Setanta in the line-up for the Richmond game - needs time to get his strength/fitness back).

I should add.

Backs: Jamisen, Sentana, Bannister (N Brown)
H Backs: Scotland, Waite (play on Richoman), T-Bird
Centres:Simpson, Stevens*, Gibbs
H Fowards:Murphy*, Harlett, Houlihan
Forwards: Edwards, Fevola, Betts
Rucks: Cloke,Judd, Carazzo (head to head foley)
I/C:Bower,Hampson,Grigg & Hadley
EmergencY: Jackson, Hackland, Wiggins & Russell

HF: Houlihan Hartlett Murphy
F: Betts Fevola Edwards

Foll: Cloke Judd Carrazzo

still can't work out how Jackson gets in most best 22's. Will be a good VFL midfielder but not up to AFL level at this stage, others like Grigg, Anderson, Armfield etc I feel show more

Do you even watch your team play? What kind of a statement is that?

At present he has definetly shown a lot more ... and if you look at his stats is very consistent for a young player.

cant play houla in the back line its to frustrating cuse hes so soft and i rekon hes silky skills are just what we need up forward
waite should be forward aswell, hes better forward than he is back.

His experience and rebound skills are needed down back, our forward line is potent enough. We'd be leaving a gaping hole in our defense should we take him out.

I would have thought our shocking percentage last year would warrant the need for Waite at CHB.

if i was a richmond forward i would be pretty excited about playing against those backlines

Who - Richo and Brown? Pfft.
How about Carltons forward line matching up against Richmonds backs? Or, our midfield against theirs.

B: Bower Jamison Thornton
HB: Scotland Waite Carrazzo
C: Gibbs Stevens Simpson
HF: Hadley Hartlett Houhlihan
F: Edwards Fevola Betts
R: Cloke Judd Murphy

I: Pfieffer Grigg Jackson Hampson (minimum game time for Hammer)

I'd be using carrots to tag either Foley or Deledio, depending how the night goes. Having hoops in the forward line is must IMO, as our the loss of Fish is a big one. I dunno if Judd is ready to take main rover duties yet, so maybe play him through the HF line as well.

I'd love to have 4 points in the bag round one with about 140% next to it :)

Big motor, gut-busting run, discipline to do a defensive job on oppositions best midfielder, disposal reasonable. Can't all be game breakers, you need blokes to do jobs as well. :thumbsu:

Just thought : how can a team be picked without one of: either russell and bannister, for the players such as deledio, pettifer and nathan brown.. at least that way, we can release houlihan who must be kicking himself for not making the most of HFF back in 2002

FF: Houlihan (stop bowden) Fevola Betts

HF: Gibbs Edwards Stevens

C : Simpson Judd (vs johnson) Jackson( he will tag foley)

HB: Scotland (pettifer) Waite(richo) *Russell (for brown)

FB: Jamison(Polak) Thornton (deledio) Bower (C.Hughes)

R: Cloke Murphy Carrazzo (newman)

Int from: *Bannister, Ackland (how bad) Grigg, Kreuzeur (if he plays) and Hadley

DONT KNOW IF HAMMER IS PLAYING OR SETANTA
I would think that scotland will push to the midfield, carrazzo will go defence, stevo in the middle and murphy forward..

When the game is in the balance, cant wait to see *JUDD, STEVO, SCOTLAND* in the centre..

RUSSELL and BANNISTER WILL SHARE THE ROLE OF SHUTTING DOWN NATHAN BROWN

GO BLUES!!
