Wish you wouldn't talk about me as though I wasn't even in the room.

I think its sad that all of you Carlton fans talked up this game all preseason with crap about Judd and Kruezer and whoever else u got and know that Richmond won no one can face the facts that we were better than you.
All this crap about 'We are the real winners' is just covering up the truth. So what if most of our goals came from the older blokes. That doesnt mean anything. When Richo is gone there will be someone else to come in and kick the goals.
The flooding business. I think i saw us in the last 5 minutes flood for about 2 minutes to waste a little time. Ive seen it done plenty of times before in situations like that. Its apart of football these days.
Just face it Carlton. You lost, we won!!!

Some poster's sigs are so helpful when trying to comprehend the words above them.

I couldn't believe it when Terry hit the ultra-flood button early in the 1st quarter of the first game of the season! There were several occasions, when EVERY Richmond player apart from Richo had flooded the Blues forward line. Low ticka pathetic stuff. Happened again late in the 2nd quarter, in patches in the 3rd, and the entire 2nd half of the last 1/4. Reminded me of those ugly tactics Terry employed V Crows a couple of years ago. Remember that? It won you the points on the night, but I'm so glad Ratten doesn't adopt that rubbish. :)

Thats called being outcoached.

I was there Thursday night, you wernt, and there was none of this ultraflood you talk about. In fact, at times Carlton has no one in their forward 50. Of course its hard to notice this sitting on the couch watching the game on the box.

Normally I love your work parrot but that's a load of nonsense. To lose to Richmond, the team universally selected for the bottom of the leader, to be out-thought by Wallace, and to have Carlton players fallin a heap like that, was extremely disappointing.

The only positive for me was that Judd, Stevens, hadley, Cloke and Setanta all get a game under their belts. Why play 5 players with limited fitness in a game like that? I guess the only answer is 'We had to'.
Totally agree.

Reading between the lines of Parrot's squawk the real message was "Tiger's tried and trusted were too good for Carlton's crocks. Where was wise old Whitnall when we needed him down back?".

Still can't admit it.

Not to mention your sig. Must be mental and mad for having that one.

Settle sweetheart. That's the line made famous by Drew Morphet during the last quarter of the 99 PF. You know, the Preliminary Final? The big game before the Grand Final? At the MCG? In September? Oh wait..............

Frustrating and disappointing to lose against the Tiges last Thursday. Watched a replay of the game a few times, and realise now that we do in fact have a lot more positives to take out of the game than the Tiges. It was an interesting game with huge contrasts.

Reason 1: 47% of the Tiges goals were kicked by players with an average age of 31 !

Hardly an investment in the future. The Tiges played 5, 30 year old, or older players in that lineup. The Blues played none in that age group, and instead invested gametime into younger players. This is the better approach.

Reason 2: Our opposition needed to employ extreme ultra-flooding

It was an effective tactic by Terry on the night. It forced us to hold possession of the ball longer before entering the forwardline, and often our young players made skill errors as a consequence, resulting in a turnover. While flooding worked, it’s a loser tactic, and I am so glad Ratten doesn’t go down that path.

Reason 3: Glimpses of future brilliance and potential e.g. 1st and 2nd quarter

When the young Blues got their act together, the glimpses of brilliance shone through in a few passages. e.g. 2nd quarter. Watching the game again, it is clear that not only are our young players coming to terms with a new style of gameplan, but these players are still learning to anticipate their team-mates actions. Much of our list has played way less than 50 games. Game time is needed. There are no shortcuts. But there is potential there, massive potential.

Reason 4: Judd’s leadership

Early days, but I’m impressed with his attitude. Seems to be focussing on the importance of his role as an on-field leader a lot more than he did at West Coast, almost certainly because he realises that he is effectively a mentor to a large group of very young players. Thought his article in The Age was a great demonstration that not only do we have the best player in the AFL, but we have an intelligent, insightful leader with a success mindset. By contrast mention of the Tiges captains name, just brings laughter for many reasons. Again, no future.

Reason 5: Way below full strength

Judd and Stevens are way below full fitness, Walker out, Fisher out, Kruezer out, Hampson out. Plus a lots of talented young players will also be pushing hard for selection. By contrast the Tiges were at 100% capacity.

:)

8 pages & 109 posts later, he is still reeling them in. I considered closing this thread yesterday to stop Parrot plundering too many Richmond supporters from the BigFooty ocean, but then I decided it was good sport to watch.

I agree entirely,

Please, please leave this thread open.

lol u carlton supporters are an absolute joke.
'Oh we were the real winners because we have walker, hampson and so on... out'

But last year when Carlton won you gave us absolute heaps yet we were without our best and only ruckman(Troy Simmonds), our best midfielder (Mark Coughlan), and our best forward (Nathan Brown). I think those three combined would be nearly as good as your whole list.

This year we still had Coughlan and Polo out as well as others but no we were at 100% according to you.
LOL parrot you clown

Just keep coming out in-force brother. This week is a new week, and a new week brings hope. If not this week then the week after- positive things happening down at blues land, the tide is turning however these things take time.

No use getting caught up over 1 game although there is still a long way to go.

Quite possibly as long as it takes young Jack to be taken F/S. Next I'll hear he loves golf.

The Blues the real winners in round one. Hah parrot, only you can believe your own rubbish. Funny thing is , no one else does.:D

I tell ya I and many other AFL supporters will be pi$$ed if Carlton get the 4th #1 draft pick in a row by becoming wooden spponers for 2008, how much of a leg up do you guys need?

Don't jump the gun too early mate. And, we are working within the system that 15 other clubs do as well.

Many AFL supporters have been pissed with us all Summer since we stole your captain from under your nose. I know you're upset, but you'll get over it in time.
