After getting somewhat "excited" whilst watching the Showdown I thought it may be a good idea to order a copy on DVD, so after a quick google Sportsdelivered confirmed my order and took my money...that was April 12th and yet I still wait.

My emails come back undelivered and their website appears to have disappeared, eh gads will I ever have the joy of watching Bernie collect his medal? I somehow think my money has gone.

Anyone else had an experience with this mob?
 
My oh my, do I have a story about Sports Delivered. Strap yourselves in cos it’s a doosy...

To start with, I will say that they are hopeless with returning emails. I sent them numerous emails asking on the availability of Round 1 1991 v Hawthorn and never received any correspondence. Nevertheless, I eventually decided to go ahead and order anyway.

I placed an order for six DVDs. They took my money straight away, and I waited patiently for my DVDs to arrive. And waited. And waited. And waited some more.

After a month or so, I emailed them asking what was taking so long and if they had been sent, fearing they may have been lost in the mail. I had ordered an item from the UK on the same day, and it arrived within a week! A week or two after sending the email, I received an email back from them saying that there was a delay on one of the DVDs which caused them all to be delayed, but that they would send the other five out to me then send the last one later. For the record, the games I ordered were:

1997 Semi Final v Geelong
2001 Round 8 v Richmond
2003 Wizard Cup GF v Collingwood
2003 Round 6 v Kangaroos
2005 Semi Final v Port Adelaide
2006 Round 16 v Kangaroos

The delay was on the Richmond game. Three days after receiving the email, I got the DVDs in the post. Considering recent efforts, I thought that wasn't too bad.

As I sat down to enjoy my DVDs, I noticed that the 2006 Kangaroos game just stops midway through the third quarter, and doesn't work at all for the final quarter. This just would not do for Mark Ricciuto's 300th game! So I emailed them again, to say that it didn’t work properly and ask what the procedure was to return faulty DVDs. To this day, I still have not received an email in response.

About 2-3 weeks later, the final DVD arrived. Hurrah! Open it up and what do we have? Round 8 2007 Adelaide v Richmond! What? But that game was crap! I don’t want to relive this over and over! So, screw the emails… I got on the phone. Toll free number, which I had called before over a dispute with shipping costs, and although I had my details taken and promised a call back within the hour, I never got it. Nevertheless, I persevered. After being on hold for half an hour, the phone mysteriously cut out. So I called again, got the same dude and he wondered how it was possible I could have been on hold for so long considering he was sitting next to the guy who was supposed to take my call and this guy went off to another room to take it. Take the call? I think not. Drink a coffee and eat donuts more like it.

Anyway, this guy took my call straight away second time round. Told me to keep that DVD and that he would send out the correct one. Also said to return the faulty one for a replacement. And finally, he promised to send me a couple of extra games for my troubles. That was two weeks ago. I am still waiting.

And if you’re expecting to see Bernie receive the medal on the Showdown DVD, don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t happen. The Wizard Cup GF shows no post match presentations at all! The 1997 Cats final shows the boys walk into the rooms, form a circle and belt out the first syllable of the club song, then finishes. And I think there was something annoying at the end of one of the others too but don’t remember which or what it was.

Oh, and finally can I just say two things. Firstly, I started this whole procedure in the week after our opening NAB Cup match. Secondly, if anybody from Sports Delivered is reading this, send me out this years Showdown as one of the freebies and all will be forgiven!

Once again piracy proves to be the better option for Aussie rules fans, seems that Sportsdelivered offer a service comperable to Telstra's terrible one.

Yeah very true. I bet one of you dedicated fans who got the show down on DVD could burn it for one of us make us a nice cover and all that send it out to us for maybe $20 - the quality would be way better not to mention the content.

Anyway for the record i ordered my grandpa the 2008 showdown dvd too.
I am still yet to receive it. I rang up on Tuesday to ask what has happened to it, left a message on the answering machine, got back a call within 30 minutes. He said they have had a heap of customers wanting that particular one and a batch had been sent out within the last couple of days. However mine wasn't it that batch and it will hopefully be in the next one. He said to ring back by Monday if it still isn't here.

Hopefully it gets here eventually.

They literally just burn the DVDs when they are ordered. When I rang up about my issues, he said that he was doing the mastering for the round 8 2001 game against Richmond and that it should be sent out soon. If he hadn't even done the mastering yet, then why the hell did they send me out a game at all... regardless of the fact that it was the wrong year (2007)?

Oh and their covers are atrocious so i made my own :p:D:thumbsu:
 
Well team surprise surprise I received the dvd today [friday] and was stoked, however upon opening the cover was somewhat concerned that on the first disc it said quarters 1&2 and the second disc stated quarters 2&3!!!!!!!!! EHHH gads would I see Bernie receive his medal ?? So I promptly sent the kids to the "games room" and wacked in the second disc...ahhh it was the third and final quarter, however at the finale did I get to see BV collect his video? no of course not it faded to black didn't even have the boys belting out the song...will I use sportsdelivered again no fn way!!
 
Is there any alternative to these guys? I was thinking about getting something from them a few weeks ago, but decided not too thank god!

Really so you've received yours now? If i don't get mine by Monday they will be getting a call....

Hopefully the packaging is better for mine...but i doubt it...I think maybe next time i'll pay someone to do a better job of it by downloading it and then making a dvd for me.

Exactly same thing happened to me. I havn't checked to see whether the first half is there though.

When mine didn't arrived within two weeks I emailed them and got a response straight away.

I imagin they are the official afl dvd providers and you would think to get them to clean up their act it may be an idea to go through the afl or even someone like Phil Harper at the AFC.

I have the Crows v Hawks on Video from name a game when McLeod kicked the winning goal. They included Jarman's post game interview and his walk off the ground which is the funniest AFC moment ever I reckon. Blight's commentary on McLeod was shall we say Nostradamus like. Maybe he is the messiah!!

All of the packaging is the same. It just has a club logo on the front with the name-a-game logo below it basically. Background in club colours, and blurbs on the back about the company, not the game. There is a spot on the spine to write what game it is.

If you are handy with Photoshop, make your own like I did:thumbsu:

A few years ago I got the 1999 North vs Essendon blockbuster from them (Carey booted 10 and that left-footed checkside falling over the boundary) and was disappointed to find the DVDs are the cheapo burn yourself type you can pick up for a half-eaten pie from any shop and the footage is seemingly transferred direct from an old VHS copy.

To charge $35 or $40 for that is a disgrace.
 
Well my DVD finally arrived today. It has the right stuff on the covers which is good.

Interesting though is that it has Adelaide Crows on the front. But mentions nothing of Port. What happens if i was a Port Supporter but it has Adelaide Crows on the front. Or what happens if it was a draw...what would they put on the front then?

They put the winning teams logo on the front, probably because if your team lost there is little chance you would buy it.

I think it is the home teams logo for a draw.

Oh... and an update from me - I'm still waiting for the replacement '07 Roos game and the correct '01 Tigers games to arrive (along with my "bonus" games for my troubles).
 
Crow28 just give the guy a call. He is pretty nice even though he sounds like a bit of a bogan. I'm not sure if it is always the same guy but after calling every day for a few days he got me my dvd.

Yeah I have done so before as I mentioned but its hard to do it while I'm working unfortunately.
 
For those interested, today I finally received the rest of my order... exactly 14 WEEKS AND ONE DAY after placing the order!

Oh, and the promise of "sending out a couple of extra games for your troubles" never happened. Piss poor company, but then again as the only way to get past games they can pretty much do what they want. They will be getting some rather nasty correspondance I can tell you!

Oh, and the 1997 Cats semi only has sound coming out of one speaker for the first half, but considering the track record I think I'm just going to have to deal with it.
