ive penciled in the bulldogs game as a loss & been very conservative with other results, so seems that unless one of the pies or crows fall over very shortly we are doomed to miss

however beat the doggies & win the rest & almost guaranteed a spot

See, I thought to myself... 4 wins is a guarenteed in. But I only see us winning 3...

Having said that, Shaw and Didak - That has got to hurt the Pies final hopes...

Oh, but what a difference two more goals would have made.

If you take our sub-1-goal losses to Adelaide and Richmond and made them into wins... we would be 10-8 and fully expected to win 2-3 more, with a realistic shot at 4 wins + favourable results to steal 4th.

What an amazing turnaround since May. Full credit to Knights, +1 believer. Bomber's 09 for mine, look out.

If we are a chance for the finals, we really need to beat WCE by more than 40 points. Our percentage is shocking, if it comes down to percentage, we won't get in because it aint very good.

Anyway if we did make the finals, we wouldn't get anywhere unless we played Adelaide or St Kilda. These teams are the most beatable teams who will make the finals. I'm hoping that Essendon finish 8th, Adelaide finish 5th and Stkilda finish 4th. We would be a massive chance against the Crows at AAMI and Geelong would easily beat St Kilda so we would be in with a massive chance the week after IF we beat Adelaide. Then we would want to play the Doggies in the prelim. We could beat them. Then we would have to hope the Hawks beat the Cats because Hawthorn are easier to beat than Geelong.

Of course we probably won't make the finals but if we did I'd be very happy.

If we made the finals, I would put us as a near favorite to win the first game.

For the second half of the season, we would be batting 10-1 (or 9-2 if lucky)... If we started the season like that, people would have been talking finals contendership...

Instead, we would be peaking at just the right time... :D

I honestly think we will go LWLL, thus leaving us at 9-13 and probably 12th.

I feel that the Eagles have been tanking, but are now in a safe position to go all out for a win this week. It would be a pretty good effort to win 2 games at Subi, but then again, Port and Richmond managed that too.

No doubt we are better than West Coast, but I don't feel good about it.

We should beat Adelaide here.....no excuses really, unless we cop more injuries before then.

Doggies could depend on availibility of guys like Reimers and McVeigh. I still think we can match them, but will fall short.

I believe StKilda will be playing for a top 4 spot in round 22, so they will be going all out to beat us.

Of course, if I had my optimistic hat on, we'll get over the Eagles and Adelaide our percentage well into the 90's.

Sitting at 10-10, we'll get some good players back against the Doggies and it will make for a really exciting match.

With finals still a chance in round 22, we'll beat StKilda.

It's just too much to speculate on.

I'd rather just concentrate on this week. But yes, where there is light there is hope....and there is light.

I certainly can't imagine the Eagles winning this week. They've got nothing to gain, and lots to lose from it.

A win this week, followed by a win against Melbourne will see them losing their priority pick. And in the current draft, will be a huge thing.

A loss this week, followed by a loss against Melbourne could see them gaining the #1 pick.

I can't see them trying too hard, they've still got 2 more percentage points to drop off... :p

Well that depends what they are after.

Did they beat StKilda because they know they can throw the game against Melbourne?

Or are they just interested in getting the second pick because they think Melbourne will take Jack Watts (if he enters) so they can then take whoever they want?

I was certain of this win weeks back, but their win over StKilda has shocked me.

Ever consider they aren't actually tanking?

staker was put out for the season today with thumb surgery. they aren't fussed if they win or not. we should win easily this week.

harvey retiring makes the round 22 match against st.kilda much harder now

This was always going to be a hard, HARD match... Harvey was always going to retire at the end of this year. No doubt. I laughed half way through the season telling my saints crazy mate that round 22 could decide whether or not you make the finals. It might still end up that way, but it might be both of us playing off for a spot in the finals. Interesting to see how the next month pans out, one week at a time though...

Nothing against the players, they'll always try, but I don't believe winning is of utmost importance to the coaching staff.

They've pretty much got what they need to rise again and one more solid year of drafting should set them up for a finals crack in 2010.

But to answer your question, I did consider it, and came to the conclusion that they were in fact "developing their list" quite strongly.

That's what we like to hear and I agree with that wholeheartedly

I'm not sure if my memory serves me correctly but we you not one of Knights more vocal detractors very early in the piece? I seem to remember some heated arguments between you and the other posters in regards to coach matters.

People would've been talkng premiership contention.

If we make the finals we are a chance to do what port did last year.

Your memory is close but not quite. Not anti Knights - anti Sheedy dumping, specifically anti Horsburgh and anti his kneejerk foot in mouth methods.

I favoured Daniher until the announcement of Knights, but certainly was never anti Knights.

Looking bloody good atm though :thumbsu:

Ahh thats right.

Sure is. I was quite excited at the start of this year but what we've seen so far has made anticipation for next season even stronger

Actually after what happened to Port I'd rather lose a tightly contested prelim to the Hawks or the Doggies, and let them instead be the receivers to the rogering the Cats will deliver on Grand Final day.

Mind you, this is another season.

ess losing to the doggies
but adelaide has to lose the next 4
and either freo or melbourne has to get up on richmond
and carlton and Port has to beat the roos.

possible.. but unlikely. Unless we beat the dogs.
