Really had to motivate myself to do the write up this week. Being a swans supporter is very draining and my level of care, well let's just say it's very low this week. Then I see Notte is out of our side and debuting for the Eagles, damn you woosha!
My other dilemma this weekend is who to support, because there are some teams I should want to win to keep us making up the numbers in the top 4, but I find it very trying supporting them.
Let's go to the Freo Derby first, East Freo v South Freo. The sharks are making a late charge at the top 4 and need to win this one to have a realistic chance of finishing 4th. However, they have lost so many players to the eagles and dockers can they do it? Liam Anthony needs to keep up his form and get some more support from Adams, Teakle, Green and the second tier players. Souths have their own Adams who is on fire at the moment, along with O'Keefe, Page, McGrath, Phillips and White. Because it's at the Sharks home ground I can see this being a cracker but Souths should just get over the line with their runners.
Perth v Peel - last chance saloon for both of these teams as well. Who can win? Perth looked like they had started to put it together in the first half last week, but fell in a hole in the second half (bit like theirs and Swans seasons really). Peel have an innate ability to look really bad or really good, is there any in between with this team? Can Siekerka, S Young, K-T, Thornton, Butler et al lift and get them over the line or will it be Schofield, Rosa, Ballantyne and others that get there. I should want Perth to get there shouldn't I, but I can't split them.
Swans v Subi - who cares, next! Honestly, I'm only going for the enjoyable day in the glorious sun and watch a truly professional team at work. Whilst Swans played a lot better last week, against tough opposition I can't see them getting within a bull's roar of Subi. Ames looked like he was shot last week, not once but twice, so can't see him getting up. Positives for Swans though (apart from Hinkley being called up by the dockers
, honestly, Subi don't need any more help) are Richardson and Grabski have got a few games into their legs after being injured for the best part of 12-18 months I reckon. Grabski is a real good mover and Richardson seems to not panic and played very well in defence. Another postive of the game is I will get to see Naitanui, Yarran and Rich one more time and Brad Smith may well reach his ton! Or should I say probably will.
EP v WP, before we go any further, can I say carn the Royals!!! I need retribution for last week
. Having said that, just can't see EP getting close to WP, if the same Falcons team plays on Saturday. I think, apart from Subi, all teams have had trouble with consistency. Being the Perth derby I can see EP getting revved right up for this one but can Merrington, Swan, Reynolds, Noakes, Humm and Hancock lead the Royals to an unlikely victory over Longmuir, LeCras (snr), Duckworth, Chambers, Pearce and Guadagnin?
Should be another great round of football, except at Basso, with beautiful weather so enjoy it and may your team bring home the bacon!
