Carlton - Boston

Both are highly successful clubs who have recently gone through long lean patches with little success(until this year at least ;)).

Both have won the most titles in their respective sports.

Both have provided some of their respective sports best known icons.

Both have had extremely well known and colourful GM/Presidents.

Both supporter bases are identified with a distinct nationality (Irish and Italians)

Both won a title in 1981.

Miami and Port

Almost Identical.

After winning the championship/premiership they fell to pieces, both funnily enough due to losing a large amount of valuable players.

I change NBA teams more frequently than I change underwear, so I'll just go with Boston cause I'm still on that bandwagon at the moment...

Boston: Won 3 titles from 1981 to 1986
Melbourne: Won 3 games from 1981 to 1986

Boston: A talented, experienced team that executes its gameplan to perfection
Melbourne: A bunch of borderline AFL players with a combined age that doesn't reach triple digits

Boston: Predominantly Irish Catholic and Italian Supporters
Melbourne: Predominantly Protestant supporters who would be outright disgusted if an Irish moved into their neighbourhood

**Funnily enough, Boston's greatest player ever was a big lanky Protestant, and Melbourne's was a greasy Italian Catholic**

Boston: Unbearable fans who simply can not tolerate even the mere discussion of other teams
Melbourne: Most fans struggle to remember our star players' names

Boston: League powerhouse financially
Melbourne: Have resorted to begging
