Have to back up Horn on this one.....you OEG guys are kidding yourself...do you only read the articles that relate to yourselves. ....whole article on scotch not beating Xavs in the finals since moses was a boy. As for the timing...when else would you write it.

ps OEG to win in the senior by 5 goals and snow in the dew kickers.

Still questionable decision to write such an article, but as TBP suggested previously, if you're going to do so maybe make sure you get your facts right.

At the end of the day an article means nothing, the boys are aware of the tag however and are determined to continue to dominate Bernards as they have done so throughout the season. Should be a ripping game and OEG to get up by 40 - 50 points just too many bigger stronger bodies.

Agreed. Personally I think it's well written and timely. Not 100% factual (close enough though) but the Hornet is at the end of day a journalist and we all know they are full of $hit. It's pretty simple, the past is the past, we can't change that. All we can do is look to tomorrow and win. Nothing else matters.

jeeze, a lot of ppl having a cry over this article. i bet if it was about snowdogs the oeg guys wouldn't be saying boo.

grow up, cop it and wear the tag of chokers which you guys have created for yourselves... It's no fault of anyone else. Horn wasn't paying OEG out, he was pointing out how mental edges are quite a big factor in sport. If your not man enough to cop it on the chin then thats a real worry, I hope the players aren't the same.

Fair play in my book.

OEG by 38 points.

I had little doubt the OEG finals record would get a run in the Horn's Wednesday dribble this week. It was a lay down misere. Scotch's curse isn't as notable because they've been in the top flight for so long (without winning a flag, and failing to beat Xavs in the process), but OEG are still trying to enter the top flight for the first time in their history.

I sincerely hope the OEG boys do it this time. If so, it would be a just result for a great year thus far.

PS - JGH, I loved the Brod Dyke reference. Made me chuckle.

Gave it a fair airing on the Show this week too. Astounded that Rosco and 'Bling had no idea who Broddles was. They both dropped in my estimation as a result.

Absolute gold by you old son. :thumbsu:

Brod is something of a cult figure in my very dubious circle of friends. Indeed, the balding number 24 at De La actually has a copy of his book, 'Passing Shots', which is amazingly quite an intersesting read.

Which facts were incorrect? I think if he was being really cruel horn would point out missing A grade last year looks to be a massive wasted opportunity looking at the other promoted side has been able to achieve.

TBP, can you please clear up the actual record since 99? By my calculations it is 11-13 finals with no more than 3 wins and no flags. Agree, IF they win tomorrow all will be forgiven and forgotten (well sort of)... but if they don't...

"Likewise, in both 2006 and 2007, they lost every one of their four finals, all of which they went into as favourites."

Been said before but in 2006 we won the 1st Semi after finishing 3rd and then lost to Brighton in the Prelim. Brighton were clearly the 2nd best team in B Grade that year and went on to play in the A Grade Grand Final the following year. Getting far too much air time this whole debacle.

Nup you blokes were the second best side in 06. OB recruited a fair bit to make the GF in A grade.
You weren't the best team in 06 & 07 but you did only lose about 3 H&A last year and as MIO has pointed out Uni Blacks was a waste of time.
This would be the biggest of them all as you are a 6 goal better side than the rest of the comp.
Monday will be a busy day on here - either OEG doing the Teddy Whittens or the rest doing the Chocos.

Well they beat us twice throughout the season and finished second and we finished third, but hey, who's interested in facts?

2nd best side in 3rd position? How does that work?

Uni Blacks going up and down?

I think OEG had far more in common with St Bedes than blacks if we're are being fair but I take your point on '06 definately were the third best side and finished the season as such.

I dont think Im going over the top with the possibility of being able to compete in A grade... I think clubs generally have to make hay while the sun shines as the rebuilding phrase can be long and hard. Take it from a SKOB supporter!!!!

Still stand by the article ..great reading for all but the thinnest skinned OEG supporters...scotch argue is ridiculous as ever.

Big difference this yr is that OEG have some direction at the top in the form of 2 quality coaches. The board have invested well in 2 coaches who know what it takes to win footy at senior level having coached Keilor in the EDFL. They go into the final series with a game plan, some direction and have the best list in the comp. They also go into a final series with some depth , with the 2's finishing second. First time out of all there finals debacles. Not fair to point the blame at past coaches at OEG and ultimately the players must be responsible for there actions. However, for the first time OEG will finally go into a final series with some direction and a quality game plan rather then just relying on pure talent to get them over the line.

Finally, someone telling me how they will win tomorrow, not how they have lost over last X years.

Sounds good to me NK, where can I get on?

Must say I agree with Cameron. As soon as I read the Brod Dyke look, I could see his long blonde Bjorn Borg hairstyle, that hunched over left arm serve, and the 6-0 6-1 60 scoreline against him.
The rest of the article we all know hornbag....but not your worst effort. I would have thought an article on two A Section Powerhouses who were lower grade also rans a few years ago may have been more interesting.

If they win tomorrow they still have an opportunity to choke in two weeks.

Go Bernards.

PS EK Grammarians bit touchy on the subject aren't we??? Hope it's not playing on your mind

From an outsiders point of view who would love to see them choke. This year they very much should not, wont commit to 100% to a win. But this year they are more in the position that Collegians and SBMT were.

And it pains me to say it but they deserve it as they were by far the best side all year so good luck.

Max, I like, it very much, great work!!!
I was heading to Headquarters at 3pm when I received a call saying that OEG slammed on 9 goals in the second q to take a 10 goal lead into half time. Turned the machine around and went home, what was the final score?
Well done OEG, about f#$%^& time

OEG by 2 goals in the reserves and 80 points in the seniors!!!! Choke on that!

Absolute dominate display in the seniors! Men against boys. Number 24 for StB will be having nightmares for the next 2 weeks, must have had 12 kicked on him!

My tip is Marcellin next week and Bernards to choke!

Great effort by all the boys, and looking forward to A Grade, however most importantly now a Grandfinal for both teams.
