Fair dinkum im getting fed up with the love fest for federer by the commentators (Courier in particular) it has reached embarressing proportions. Sure the guy is a brilliant tennis player but do you really have to say that every single shot is brilliant, wonderful, out of this world spectacular when there not? He hasn't played that well tonite Safin has been below average. All i ask for is play by play commentating not some " God how much do i love federer" commentating.

He is the most gifted, or certainly among the most gifted, performers their sport has ever had. They are showing appreciation for a talent which is unequaled. Quite right too. Golfers rave about Tiger in the same way.

All warranted, he is that good.

Same happens when Tiger plays golf, Schumacher drove F1, Judd plays footy, Tendulkar played cricket (before all his injuries), Bolt running on the track, Phelps in the pool... I think you get my point.

Fed most likely the best tennis player to have played the game, and only reason he hasn't already beaten Sampras' slam recordis playing the same time as the best clay courter in history (Raffa).

Concur with most of what has been said above, but the volume of adulation during a match is ridiculous. There are two players out there and they should save the ****-sucking for before and after the match.

i know this is somewhat off topic. but whilst watching the federer/berdych match today im wondering, why at the start of the 3rd set berdych served first. im pretty sure he served at 5-6 in the second to take it to tie-break, and he served last in the tie-break when it was 7-4. either im wrong about who served last in the second set or someone made a mistake.

I think the rule is Federer served first in the tie break so Berdych serves first in the 3rd set.

I think JA seriously wants to bum Rafa now.

Courier has a permanent boner for Federer, but JA is even more aroused by Rafa this year.

I don't know about McEnroe, he was good, but nobody plays like Roger. I haven't seen Rod Laver though.

More then good he was uniquely gifted. Roger is a brilliant player but not in McEnroe's league when it comes to natural talent.

Of course he has passed Mac in slams but remember his peers were the likes of Borg,Becker,Edberg,Lendl,Vilas,Wilander & some guy called Connors. Roger has really only had Nadal who could mix it with that group of players.
