Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Apparently hyperextended his knee playing for the Bullants reserves-see recent Grigg article on CFC website.

Hopefully it isn't too serious.

That is what the Swans are saying happened to Hall on teh weekend, and they think he'll only miss a week for precautionary reasons.

Yes, but don't forget that there are different degrees of the injury, as there are for most injuries.

Some will be more severe than others and will therefore require the player to spend more time on the sidelines than others.

Just read that it isn't too serious, maybe 1 or 2 weeks. :thumbsu:

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

How is this lad coming along, I remember watching him for Woodville back in the day.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Yeah, quite interested to hear in his development this season from anyone who is in the know!

Will he make it or too far down the pecking order to have a chance?

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Anybody know how Sam is going? It is his second year on the rookie list so either he has to be elevated or let go at season's end.

I would assume that due to the lack of information around, he may be looking for a new home?

Would love to hear from those who know.

I haven't seen him lately but from reports it seems he is improving not only his ruckwork but also his work around the ground.

At this stage I would say that he will be elevated at the end of the season. He shows promise and we are hardly in a position at the moment to get rid of a ruckman that shows promise.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Thanks for the update. I coached Sam as a Junior here in Adelaide and really hope he makes it. He is a top person who worked hard to get where he is. Was never a star as a junior and when he rocked up to pre-season as a 15 year old people laughed.

I hope he makes it.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

How big is this dude?

He's listed as 200cm and 100kegs on the AFL website, but I have a 2008 team poster and this guy is clearly shorter than Bower and Waite, and nowhere NEAR Hampson's size.

Is he legitimately 200cm? Is he sitting down in the team photo where the others are standing? Or have they photoshopped him in or something?

He is DEFINITELY bigger than Bower and Waite.

He's a man mountain who would be legitimately 200cm and 100kg, if not more. He must be sitting down or just a bad angle

Heh. What a strange little mystery. Maybe he's standing in a pothole.

I reckon they've photoshopped him in. I'm gonna take another look.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

I watched the bullants game on the weekend & Jacobs really impressed me.

I have seen enough to be convinced he is a AFL ruckman in the making.

OK he hasn't got the speed Hampson has, but McIntosh & Hille are fairly slow.

His kicking skills when short passing were solid.

I'd be expecting Jacobs to be played regulary in next years pre-season cup.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Re drafted by the Blues. Got to work hard to crack a spot in the team considdering our tall boys we've got this year, but if he's got the determination he can do it.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

Watched him at training a couple of weeks ago and he was looking the goods. On a full ground kicking exercise he showed good solid speed and foot skills. Later they had the big guys competing at CHF where they were required to mark or drop the ball to the advantage of our runners. He was very solid.

Ratts has had several things about him recently including....that Sauce had received the most 'loading' of all the Carlton players. That he had been put under pressure to come back with increased endurance, speed and ball handling skills and by all accounts he had met expectations.

I think personally after watching him in one of the finals matches for the Bullants last year where he took a bit of a speccy, I think he's got potential and with a bit of luck he will make huge inroads this year.

I'll give myself a pat on the back for this call last year.

Re: 39. Sam Jacobs (Rookie)

I really think Hammer is under pressure now (although he was quite handy tonight), he still drops marks he should be taking but he's working hard on his game.

If Kreuzer plays next week, hopefully Jacobs and Hammer keep their places.

Let Jacobs and Hammer share the ruck duties and let Cloke and Kreuzer play up forward with Fev.

We're into the semi-final, we're getting great preparation for the season proper, lets give the young ruckmen all game to stake their claim for R1 and lets give Kreuzer and Cloke a chance to stake their claim for R1 in the forward line.

I don't want Kreuzer playing in the ruck at all this season.
