...but it's not racist.;)
My favourite racist moment was when a black man threw a bleach-blonde white woman over his shoulder, took her back to his tin hut and infected her with his virus. Subtle :thumbsu:
STFU it is racist and for the last time VD, YOU'RE NOT BLACK!!!

That's the last time you talk down to me and my people

News that we all but already knew, RE5 DLC was already on the disc.

****EN PRICKS!

Everyone should boycott this bullshit ploy by companies, DON'T BUY IT!

RE5 DLC ALREADY ON DISC
Today, Capcom released new downloadable content for Resident Evil 5 on Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
Versus Mode enables four players to enjoy two different modes: Slayers and Survivors. The cost in the US is 400 MSP ($5), but is cheaper in Japan at 160 MSP ($2). The cost difference is likely indicative of Japanese gamers' reluctance to pay for bonus content. We were certain the $3 price hike for other territories would be the biggest controversy, but on Tuesday morning, that was proven incorrect.

The total download size for RE5 Versus Mode is 1.86MB. You are not, in fact, downloading the content from Xbox Live Marketplace or PlayStation Network. Instead, you are downloading a key that unlocks content already on the RE5 retail disc. The same disc you paid $60 for a month ago.

When asked to justify why gamers who already shelled out $60 for a copy of RE5 should have to pay extra to unlock content included on the disc, a Capcom representative said: "Versus mode represents content that was created outside the scope of the original design of Resident Evil 5. This is an all new mode that required additional resources to create, not to mention the additional bandwidth costs."

The bandwidth costs are related to the PS3 version. Sony charges publishers for servers used for online games, which is why PS3 online is free to consumers. Microsoft includes these costs with the $50 Gold subscription paid for by Xbox gamers.
EDIT- Slightly edited the article as the date for the PS3 version of the DLC was wrong, it was released today as well as the 360 version, also there are slightly conflicting reports on the size of the DLC, either 1.8MB or under(Still would be on the disc content) and still, DO NOT BUY THIS BULLSHIT!

That is absurd.

I heard SFIV does something like this as well

That's incredibly cynical by Capcom. I agree HBK; no one should support this bullshit

Xbox owners paying for ps3 owners bandwidth use...for shame...

Agreed, Capcom is pissing of a user base by making the 360 owners pay as well.

Edit : I wonder if all software houses work PSN bandwidth cost into their pricing?

I hope your first comment is a joke?

Answer is no, Sony introduced this about 5 months ago and nothing has happened since, it is an excuse trying to place blame on something else, fact is the bandwidth fee for the PSN is so low it really doesn't matter(I believe it is 16c per 1GB downloaded/usage), Capcom are just cheating every person who buys it out of the real game, they bullshit to us that "Versus mode represents content that was created outside the scope of the original design of Resident Evil 5." So basically any company that brings in a new mode to a game nowadays has the right to charge people to use it? COME ON!!!

HAHA, I get it, however Free PSN>Payed for XBL Gold.;)

The worst part is that Capcom are actually lowering the price for Japan, just because they think it will spur sales, that proves it's all about money!

Yep, they did it with SFIV costumes, came in at a few kb, obviously Capcom saw the reaction and thought that bumping up the download size would make people think it wasn't an unlock, but FFS 2 Brand new modes coming in at under 2MB?

Good chance. Was a time most ps3 new releases were 119 and the xbox equivalent was 109. Lately there seems to be a trend where many games are costing 119 on both, so everyones just wearing the cost now.

Been said a hundred times, but touting PSN as "free" is a false economy. You pay for it with the inflated price of the console

are you one of those people who calculate the worth of your clothes, breaking it down by the amount of times you wear it?

Well conversely touting the Xbox 360 as a cheaper option is misleading if they're going to be playing it online. Considering they'll have to pay $80 a year for it.

Not really....considering with that extra price added on, its still cheaper.

And you have the choice whether or not to purchase.

But it isn't a one off payment, ergo it can very easily become the more expensive choice long term...

Either way, people act as if this is a surprise? Its a business which wants to maximise profits, of course they will make up these sort of plans to make and extraa fiver here and there.

True, but you have several years up your sleeve. I wasn't looking to get into an argument about which is cheaper blah blah. It's been done to death on here and it bores everyone shitless.

More just that, in my opinion, the touting of the PSN network as "free"...i think is a fallacy. You just pay up front, whether you want or not. The fact it captures 100% of purchasers, covers the cost of the network

How much do you pay up front though?
With comparable HDD and ignoring both systems free games packages.
Xbox 360 $450 60GB
PS3 $700 80GB

Considering the blu-ray functionality of the PS3 to be worth a conservative $100. That makes only around $150 increase at the most allocated to the PSN. Xbox 360's online network is about $80 a year. Obviously you can choose not to pay for that. But only after 2 years of the life span you have made up the $150 difference. Obviously the thing being that you don't have to pay for it every month if you don't want it, and if you don't want blu ray you don't have to pay for it.

It's not as cut and dry as you make it out to be.

LOL, Mancey your pushing shit up hill about the whole arguement.

Just answer this, do you or do you not pay for the FULL use PSN, do you or do you not pay for the FULL use of XBL?

We've all heard the whole "Your paying for the service when you buy the console", but in the end the reality is, if you have the console for the lifespan of the machine(Which is said to be 10 years, hell even 5 years will still be come in under 5 years of XBL gold, in fact you could buy another two consoles in that lifetime), you won't be paying more for the online service, will you?

By the way if your paying $120 for a game you are an absolute chump, I don't give a shit who you are, your ****ing stupid to be paying more than $100 for the regular retail version of ANY game nowadays.

I thought what i said expressed exactly that...shrug. I haven't quoted any figures because the whole "which is cheaper" argument doesn't really interest me. How much of the extra cost is the blu ray, how much is the psn etc etc.

All i'm saying is the price of the PSN network is factored into the console.

LOL, Mancey your pushing shit up hill about the whole arguement.

Not interested in an arguement (sic) about anything HBK. I'm just of the opinion that nothing in life is free, and PSN is certainly no exception to that rule.

Merely using RRP prices to compare apples to apples. I'm sure you can find something crazy cheap online to support your argument.

But you can be assured i'm no chump ;)

Anyway....resident evil 5....

Yet it is, as I said: do you or do you not pay for the FULL use PSN, do you or do you not pay for the FULL use of XBL?

Answer that and you answer your 'opinion'.

LOL, you sound like it saying that.

JB Hi-Fi & Big W, no crazy online store, nothing, just a regular walk in store with real walls and everything(IT'S CRAZY MAN!!!), 90% of new games(Probably actually %100) retail for $99 or less(Most cases around about $84 just a week or two after release), chumpworthy if you don't get price matched or buy from there, simple as that.

Do you understand what RRP means?

Yeah thanks m8, i certainly never do any of that. Cheers, your smarts have saved me a lot of money .

And yes, biggy just said what i was thinking in a far less sarcastic way. You've quoted posts of mine before on pricematching, you must have a mind like a goldfish

I was answering this "I'm sure you can find something crazy cheap online to support your argument."

Get it?

BTW just in case you were confusing something, the Retail price I was talking about related directly to JB and Big W, was NOT saying that was the RRP, just saying that is those particular stores Retail price.
You've quoted posts of mine before on pricematching, you must have a mind like a goldfish
