Did Chandrayaan find water on Moon’s surface?

Looks like the Indian moon mission might have found water on the moon. A big announcement on Thursday from NASA. If this is the case an they did find water on the moon, it could be huge implications. This would mean the rush to colonising the moon would be on for young and old. What do you guys think? Could it be a viable source of resources for us (humankind) or will one or two countries hold the rest of the world to ransom? It would be absolutely impossible for there to be liquid water on the Moon since the temperature is either 200+ degrees in sunlight and evaporate off into space or -100 in the shade. There might be small amounts of ice in craters where the sun does not reach, but that wouldn't be enough to get excited about and its not like Moon ice would be very different to Earth ice. This just sounds like the Indian media trying to pump up the tires of the space program over there.

Am I the only one that wonders why India even bothers with a space program, considering the massive numbers of people living in poverty in that country?

Apparently:

The inflow of currency from Europe and other cash rich but bereft of space technology countries will help us ameliorate the hard conditions of life in rural India. ISRO should be encouraged to go full speed ahead in space and bring laurels to the country. of course, some setbacks like pre-schedule end of the Chandryaan mission should be taken in the normal stride of life. Success and failure are two sides of the coin that we need to run day-to-day life.

What many of you do not know about India's space program is that they have mostly launched satellites to help Indian people, they have education satalites so they can teach kids in rural India without having teachers in class, satellites for farmers, and they also do medical operations or assist in medical operations through these forms of communication. Just do a search on google and you will find out how many amazing things the Indian space program is doing for the country. This is just a natural progression for India and for that matter any country.
