Done!

Great team orientated game from him today.

Pity he's too old for a 'rising star', what chance a Coleman?

Agree. The goal he got from his tackle on the ruckman, and then the one he gave off when he got the free kick after sprinting 20m to tackle McGuane, were almost as good as his contested marks. Should prove the naysayers wrong about our defensive pressure being worse off with Pods.

Brown has a head start, but he could give the Coleman a real go if Bomber doesn't drop him. Memo-Bomber-you can't drop Pods, just look at his output.

Not sure about Coleman, he's third on Geelongs list let alone the comp. But what the hell aye, if jPod wants a coleman, jPod gets a coleman! :thumbsu:

Brought the others into the game, created attention which opened up opportunities for our smalls as well.
That heavy tackle which resulted in a Pods give off to Moons for a goal was a ripper.
He probably could have been interfered with in several marking contests that would have resulted in a 6th goal for him, but who cares a great inclusive forwards' game from the PODS.:thumbsu:

A clear anomaly in the rules of the rising star IMHO. Some kid who is spoonfed through the TAC cup system or the academy is eligible but blokes who work hard for years outside the usual channels aren't. There will be more and more of these players in coming years and they should find a way to recognise them. Hopefully, though, Pods will get the best recognition of all: a premiership medallion :)

He has been a breathe of fresh air up there. Someone who can take a contested mark and kick a goal. The opposition was not so great today and the game last week did show his accuracy goes off when he is nervous. A good start to the year but a long way to go yet before getting too carried away with his performances.

Agreed, but key point is he's proved he's up to it from game one. We don't need to wait 12 games looking for little flashes of brilliance to convince us that 'one day' he'll have a big game. He's already had two!

As long as he stays injury free you'd think he'll keep playing. I don't know a lot about him but he doesn't strike me as someone who would drop in form by too much

Hawkins is clearly #3 and should be on notice to lift

CF , I really think its all about confidence. Once he really starts to think of himself as an AFL player , not just a VFL guy who is having a dream run.

It would be interesting to find out , but I'd have thought playing in front of a big crowd at the G is something he didn't ever think he would do. The more he plays the more he will get used to it and the more solid he will become. Although we he may have another hurdle to jump if he plays finals etc.

In the mean time , his presence seems to pushing Moons and Hawk , have you ever seen Mooney kick like he did today?

I agree that with more experience, he will adjust to the top level well

Also, what you say about Mooney and Hawkins is spot on - they are being shown up by a VFL pro!! They aren't even considered the best big forwards in the team anymore!! This would surely have them working pretty hard on their games and not taking their positions in the team for granted

Big Pods is now leading the league with contested marks... opposition coaches will be struggling to work a solution against his strong hands

Anyone else enjoy the jPod Shuffle up the Ford Stand end today when he brushed off a few defenders snapped truly?

Thought Hawkins was much better today. Certainly wasn't being lazy, I thought he worked solidly all day. Just needs more confidence in himself, especially to have shots for goal.

Not to mention some decent delivery! Few weeks in a row now he's been on the end of some garbage. Made the most of what he got today, definite improvement.

I heard somewhere that he's leading the competition for contested marks. This for a bloke who's missed two games and plays for a team that doesn't need to bomb it long.

Podsie!

He kicked 1.3 but I don't think his goalkicking was that bad really. Hit the post once and missed by about half a meter with a shot from outside 50; if he'd been luckier one or both of those would have gone through and we wouldn't be ripping on him. He certainly put in a much better effort than his last few games.

Hawkins was ok and trying hard when the ball hits the ground, but the fact is he's not really doing the things a power forward should do. Maybe he's too slow?

That's the biggest concern for me.

Just imagine, for a bloke with only a couple of games, Geelong are lucky to have him.

See how he makes the other two feel more responsible, Mooney and Hawkins.

We need to give this guy a senior list contract now, the more goals he kicks the more money he is worth and we'll end up with another damn salary cap squeeze problem and lose another very valuable rookie to a team like Collingwood who would love the jPod in their goal square.

hmm, how far can we take this one? if he kicks a great goal does it become a jPod classic? a clever tap to mooney is a jPod touch? if he has a baby is it a jPod mini? if he puts on a bit of weight over summer is he the jPad? if he gets dragged and gets a spray from bomber, will it be on the jPhone?

To listen to him sing the club song after a win do we have to download the new jTunes update? Are all of his interviews PodCast? etc. I could go on forever baby.
