Can understand dropping Kosi and Lynch but not sure about the others.

Steven didn't have a great game but still think he has shown enough recently to stick with him. I thought both Geary and Peake were OK, particularly Peake who I thought was one of our better players last night and we need his pace.

I think Lyon will probably stick with Kosi for next week but if he keeps dishing up those performances we will have to look elsewhere to Pattison or Stanley.

Lynch still looks a bit out of his depth at AFL level and probably should go back to the VFL. Should be a good player in time but can't see him being a permanent fixture in our best 22 this year.

I thought about that too, but McQualter's pressure would have been handy last night as Steven was almost unsighted (had 4 tackles but really did nothing) and Clarke, if fit, is better than a Geary or a Peake if he can regain that form he had pre-injury.

Won't happen, but I feel like throwing the axe and going:

OUT: Kosi, Lynch, Steven, Geary/Peake
IN: Stanley, Patto, McQualter, Clarke

I guess it was just an off week. Beaten in the first quarter dammit!

What I think will happen at the selection table:

OUT: Lynch
IN: Pattison

Hi Thomas

Not sure why would we drop a tall guy and bring in an even taller one?

We have gone from a very effective setup of 1 tall and sometimes 4 smalls, to last nights 3 talls and 2 smalls.

Actually hoping Eddy has a good game at Sandy, I think he is more a like for like to replace Mini.

Out Lynch, Joey (rest)
In Eddy, Jones

Steven is the most overated player in the team by Saints supporters on here...failed to win 1 contested possession again.
Raph. Clarke will not play again this season.
Peake,Lynch and Geary..pfttt.
Bring back Armitage next week and apologise to him publicly for the crappy way he has been treated.:)

I dont think Ross would bring in lynchy for one game and then axe him.. he would at least get a 2nd crack i would have thought.

Armitage out injured with a knee, which is very frustrating because the guys listed above will keep their spot on default

Lyon must take responsibility for his constant dropping of Armitage for his own obscure reason,he is the one who dropped him to the VFL where he was injured in the slush at Victoria Park[by his own teamate],then brought him back too early from injury ,overloaded him in disgusting conditions when another teamate re-injured his leg.
Armitage will be back sooner rather than later but watch Lyon crucify him again.:(

Tonight's performance was a disgrace, and couldn't of been madder with the boys. Did they turn up?

But like the classics say, there is always next week. But, to be frank, we don't have many weeks left to fix this. Ross has a bit of a problem on his hand.

Our bottom players tonight were pretty bad, and there is no-one in the VFL pushing the door down to take back their spot, which is why I'm very concerned ATM. Peake, Geary, Steven, Dawson and Kosi - not up to it im afraid, but we gotta keep playing them due to default, which is worrying me big time!
The only solace for Saints fans is this:

Round 19 - 2009.

Carlton 14.13 (97) def. Geelong 8.14 (62)

There were a lot of theories on why the Cats couldn't win the flag after that match.

Do actually know why he was dropped though, and why are you so quick to blame Lyon for his omission from the team?

That is the whole point of the matter,Lyon always has the final say on selection matters and Armitage was travelling ok when dropped.
Two sets of rules exist ,one for his cronies and another for those not in the clique.Add poor moral and complacency from the incumbents to no development of young players and voila you have the current slide in performance.

People can be omitted for other reasons, not just form. It can also be implemented by leadership groups, not just coaches.

I dislike innuendo and speculation in regards to why individuals were dropped / omitted / rested / whatever, if you know specifics I would expect you trust it enough to cop any flak if you end up being wrong.

I dislike coaches being blamed for omissions, for having favourites, when nobody actually knows why they have been dropped. Ross cops this all the time....

Oh indeed, not condoning the whinging which is happening after the loss, merely of the opinion that innuendo is far more damaging to the club than a bunch of supporters getting pissy about a loss.

How is it innuendo, Gram missed a game because he failed to prepare himself properly, it was imposed by the leadership group. People thought he was dropped, until it was leaked (I think by the footy show at the time) that it was a playing group imposed action.

People always go the 'Ross Lyon has favourites' to justify selections they don't agree with.

Angus Monfries is possibly the worst person in the AFL (in so many ways) as he falls forward any time the ball comes near him hoping for a free.

But everyone in the world seems to know he's going to do it - yet we fall for the trap? We don't seem to fall for Alwyn Davey doing the same thing (although the umpires are less sympathetic due to the "shot in the back" routine he seems to favour).

As an aside, that _ucking runner gave away another free!!! What is so hard about keeping an eye on the play as you deliver messages?

My thoughts:

- Anyone still think McQualter should be out of the side?

- Saw nothing from Tom Lynch that makes me think he'll make it.

- Haven't played that badly since Round 4 2002.

- Peake, Steven, Lynch out (along with Dawson who is injured), Clarke, Eddy, McQualter in (they play to instruction and provide effort)

- Boy do we miss Steven Baker.

- McQualter may have needed a wake up call, but should come back in

- give Lynch a break, it was his first game and he was played out of position

- I tend to forget about bad games, I remember the good ones

- Steven may have used up his chances for now, may make room for McQualter

- I don't think Peake was that bad (not great, but then again, who was ?)

- someone posted that Clarke is out for the season ?

- I am Robert Eddy (and I think I should play)

- Jones will also be an automatic inclusion

- Dawson may be out following surgery ?

- Baker is a football god

- who will come watch Sandringham (and possible ins for St Kilda) this afternoon ?

Please Ross get rid of Kosi & Milne. They may have been good once & they may bob up & play a good game occasionally but we need a forward line that can kick goals.

A very disappointing effort by the Saints tonight.

Panic stations.

Milne has been good once? Seriously brother. It''s hardly surprising your join date is May 2010.

Well I'm sticking to my prima Dona status then. Heads must roll. We have a hopeless forward line.

Why do heads have to roll in the forward line when the backline conceded 28 scores from 45 entries?

So the senior coach shouldn't have the final say on selections John? Pray tell who should then?

We had a shocker but we worked it out towards the end. Sadly we all on top of each other at stoppages and thus when we did win the ball, it was immiedately given to someone in trouble. Schneider started to get some movement away from stoppages in the final qtr and it was very nice, but unfortunately the horse had bolted.

HMC, Tommy Lynch may have been out of position, but that goal he missed was a sitter and I have no idea what he was thinking when he was leading for the ball and then turned his back on it. I was bitterly disappointed in him, so hopefully he can move on from it.

We miss Stevie Baker something awful as previously noted.

4 weeks to get it together. I choose to support the boys and not argue semantics.

Milne has been great this year, he was holding the forward line up without Rooey. Now that Rooey is back it seems that they have forgotten about Milney and are not showing him the respect that he deserves.
