2nds West Coast WAFL, part 3

Was it discussed on the TV broadcast? East Freo makes a better fit, because they dont have a forward line, per se.

Hunter has surprised me, that he's coming back. I thought the terms of his payout were that he wasn't allowed to play anymore competitive footy, again?

Nah it's just word of mouth.

Easts would work, fair point. Guess I'm just pushing Perth because, well, we need all the help we can get :o

Yea Stevey Coniglio is definitely a right footer, but he works so hard on his skills that you probably cant tell.

Cheers Curry23.

Hard to tell which foot as he did a couple of lovely left foot passes.

But looking at your other post, Stevey is very very quick, that burst in the last quarter where he ran and carried the footy was very exciting.

JON was ok, started very slowly untill after half time.

He looked much better when he was making repeat efforts. Would like to see a few more free wheeling runs down the ground instead of ball watching.

Woosh, Suma and Ian Miller were sitting at the back of the stand yesterday. Hopefully they were watching Sweet, Prior and Sampey from the Royals.
Well done to Swans - they were too strong on the day and once we lost Zac Beeck we were facing an uphill battle. Our strong point for the past weeks had been our ruck with Clarke in the forwardline taking marks and kicking goals while Beeck did the centre work. I was really pround of our boys that they made it to a Prelim after being 2 and 7 at the start of the year.:thumbsu: Well done to Tony and the coaching panel as well.
I took particular notice of Krakouer and am not sure I would like us to pick him up. Talented footballer no doubt but is prone to duck his head to try and get free kicks and seems to let niggling get to him. Even had a bit of a run in with some fans over the fence. He really should keep his mind on the job. I really hope Hansen has played his last game for the Eagles. He kicked a couple of soft goals in the last quarter to make his stats look better but I think AFL has passed him by. Ben McKinley got a fair bit of the ball and battled hard but his kicking let him down - again. I don't know what has gone wrong - he used to be a very reliable kick. I thought JON was good - I just love the way he moves but wish he got a bit more of the ball. Hopefully with a full preseason his fitness will improve and he will be able to get to more contests.

I rekon thats football from 2-3 years ago ducking the head, you hardly see it at AFL level these days because umpires have been picking it up more. Krak would adjust to that pretty easy I think and change to dropping the knees and lifting the arms Selwood style.

I don't believe he was ducking his head to elicit a free kick, crikey, he got decapitated about 5 times before a free kick was given. Put his head down to extract the ball, you know, when you bend over to pick the ball up you have to put your head down.

I'll watch the tape again tonight and see if I change my opinion, but I don't think it was to get free kicks.

I thought the one that drew blood was certainly going for the ball. Wish Notte got a run. Really needed these last two games to show the doubters some tricks. Hope he gets a chance this week. Like the look of JON too. When he takes the game on he looks pretty good. If Stevenson and JON take it up a notch next year, Rosa leaving would be a blessing in disguise. Hope Hansen gets through the whole year next year. As a contracted Swan.

Don't think he will, because we need runners against Claremont, although he has played well against Claremont in the past and one of the few that kept giving a damn in that shellacking 2 weeks ago. Named in best 3 then. I'd drop Geappen for him, but then I'm Notte a Geappen fan. Sure he kicks goals but his workrate and chasing is pathetic.

Well you see more of him than I do Swannies so I accept your opinion. From where I was sitting (in the Bill Walker Stand) I thought a few times he ducked.

I watched the recording again last night, and enjoyed it more :D, and he ducked once, which the umpire, correctly didn't play, at about the 20 min mark of the first quarter, right in front of you royalsfan. The other times, it was head down looking for the ball.

Any info on Broome and Weedon in the Reserves?

They didn't play this weekend because Claremont got straight through to Ressies GF.

you dont leave out a 2nd year AFL listed player for team balance

I get the message

If you actually watched the WAFL you'd know that Notte was named 3rd best a couple of weeks ago. 22 HO, 22 possies, 8/9 marks and 3 goals.

We have one forward, Geappen, who has kicked 65 goals, Hansen, who is hard to match up on in the WAFL and Simpson, who is a mid sized forward who kicked 5 in the prelim finals. So when Underdog says it's for team balance, he's right.:thumbsu:

Exactly, he isn't better than a WAFL forward, a guy we're desperate to delist and a mid-size, WAFL forward.

Don't get me wrong, I hope we stick with Notte and he improves, but he's playing like shit.

C'mon dude, an AFL listed player should be the one kicking 50+ goals

When you guys have watched Swans every week and can tell me where he's being played, etc, etc, then come back to me.:)

I don't buy that at all.

At the end of the day, he is still a developing kid who needs time to develop in that position. However, standing in his way are 2 of the top key forwards in the WAFL who are both mature aged.

Swans play East Perth, decide they need more run. You don't drop 2 of the best forwards in the game and Simpson who is a mid-size who also plays small.

There is no third tall in defense you can drop nor is there a reserve ruckman.

That's not to say he doesn't need to get a move on...

WAFL football is a mile below AFL football and notorious for being soft and unaccountable (hence why the Blackwell's, Brabazon's, Roach's, Krakour's of the world can rack it up here and not at AFL). There is a dearth of quality key position players so if you can't kick goals as a key position forward at WAFL level, what hope do you at AFL level up against bigger, better, more accountable defenders?

I don't care how much you watch someone, it gets to the stage where results count more than opinion. I'm not knocking Notte, but it's just a fact that his record is pretty poor and the disappoint is he probably has had better seasons in the past and he's at a stage where being in an AFL environment for a few years should be producing rapid development and improvement.

Notte is an oxygen thief and should be delisted. Hogging up space on our list whilst real players like Hams and Stevenson sit on the rookie list getting payed minimal wages.
