T. Slattery a bit stiff I would've thought especially considering his solid VFL form. Never really given a chance IMO.

The Bock delisting looks like we'll definitely be drafting a ruckman now, maybe 2.

And did anyone ever see Michael Still play? what a waste of a selection..thought he was meant to be a 3-4 year project

Re: Essendon list changes

Yeah, i can't say I'm happy with this. Not a good start by Jimmy in my book.

I don't no why Lonergan is still on the list? I doubt he'll become a better player than he currently is, and his place in the team will only push someone like Colyer, Jetta, Melksham or Howlett out of the side.

T. Slattery: very, very unlucky.

Re: Essendon list changes

Is this some sort of joke. I am really starting to question Hird's ability to list manage.

Delist Still- pretty much a young player who has hardly played any games and was picked up underage- what is even more terrible is he probably has set aside university aspirations to forge an AFL career.

Dlist Slattery- smart decision to delist a key back. Fletcher should have retired so the club should not make such a stupid decision. What will be do when we have one/two injuries?

First major mistake Hird has made as coach.

I can see players like Myers etc. who are young and good friends with them feeling terrible and would not be feeling great either. Seems Hird is trying a Voss approach to delistings.

Re: Essendon list changes

I thought we were only going with three picks.

If you add Houli there is 4 spots on the list.

Re: Essendon list changes

Bock and williams were rookies, and the howlett upgrade means only 3 spots are available after Houli goes right?

Re: Essendon List Changes

I do think Atkinson is a handy depth player but I don't see him taking us forward.
I can't really judge on Slattery as I only saw him play 1 game which was below average and probably had him out of position.

The delisting of Laycock and Bock adds something to the Gorringe comments.

Re: Essendon list changes

what is the rule with rooking guys - ie should we wish to rookie Still and T.Slat, can anyone jump in before us or do they have to go through a PSD/rookie draft??

Starting to question Hird's ability to list manage? Huh? He has been there 5 minutes. Question it after a few seasons mate.

Still no loss in my opinion. We have enough young key forwards. I don't think showed much in the VFL.
T Slattery is a bit strange, but then, its probably a case of others ahead of him.

It all comes down to what our future plans are in the draft.

We also don't know about these guys are their attitudes and how they get on with other team members. It could be a whole host of reasons they are gone.

Possibly the worst post on here in the last 12 months.

Have you heard of Merv Keane and Adrian Dodoro?

Re: Essendon list changes

Maybe we are looking at Rookie-ing Still if he is available.
I dont mind who got dropped, I would have thought that Atkinson be on the list as well.

Not a good start...

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy

come on mate..First of all you sign Stanton and Myers up again when they are as useless as **** on a bull. Stanton's disposal is horrendous, at best, yeah ok gets the ball, turns the ball over and doesn't run back to make up for his f*** up. Myers was a waste of pick 6 and is incredibly slow and disposal is also terrible..

Then you delist Tyson Slattery and Michael Still who are both young kids and deserve a chance. Slattery was the only guy who should guts and had a crack against Adelaide in his first game and Still did the right thing and put AFL football aside for 2 years to finish his studies and reward him by delisting him. Unless you are planning to put them both back on the rookie list then up until then I can say that I am extremely disappointed in those 2 delistings

I know this group is young, talented and have plenty of potential with guys like Gumbleton, Zaharakis, Long, Dempsey, Pears, Melksham, Hurley, Carlisle, Hooker, Colyer, Hardingham, Howlett. But Fletch, Hille, Ryder, Watson and Prismall can't carry the side every week. I know you will probably laugh at Prismall but I reckon he is almost too smart for our side at the moment, his kicking is exceptional, the only reason he turned over so many times last year was because he is still adjusting to our players instead of Ablett, Selwood, Bartel, Chapman and Corey running past.

Guys like Stanton, Dyson, Neagle, Monfries, Winderlich, McVeigh, Welsh, Lonergan, H.Slattery, Myers, Davey, M.Williams, Reimers, Lovett-Murray are IMO on there last chance in season 2011.

As the title says Hirdy, it's not a good start, not the ideal start delisting 2 young players that both have high potential and both KPP.

I will be the first on here to admit that I was wrong if it comes off and get decent draft picks but I'm not holding my breath

Re: Essendon list changes

Strange one on Still I would have thought, but obviously they must feel Carlisle to have gone past him. I suppose if he indeed was a bad set shot for goal, then I guess I have no issues with it. No point having a forward who can't finish the job.

Happy for Atko to give it a crack on a wing, as long as its a one year make or break thing. He might prove a few wrong if he's allowed to play up the ground.

Do they think Houli will do a backflip and sign now? Or will it be Pre season draft for us? Would the Bachar bashers prefer he go and we take a 4th round/PSD selection?

McVeigh/Hille veterans list doesn't free a senior list spot?

Our picks to be 8, 30, 47 and 64 (Howlett), PSD?
