This is not a kneejerk thread. I've said this before. I'll say it again. I don't see why Craig is the one to take this club forward.

We're soft. We lose games we shouldn't. We fall to pieces under pressure - today's panicky disposals a perfect example. These are all consistent hallmarks of the Craig era.

That game was embarrassing. It was a blight on the club. We should not have lost to that Freo side at home. It was not deserving of the talent in the side. It wasn't like we were competitive: we struggled to score a goal, let alone threaten Freo.

I'm not saying Bassett is ready to coach AFL, but look at the hardness he's put into the Norwood side. Craig's sides are lillywhite.

Maric should never play again, unless somehow Moran, Tippett, McKernan and Jacobs all go down. He is a terrible ruckman. His heart is not the issue: his ability is.

How many times can Stevens mistakes cost us goals before we drop him? As many goals as he saves, he gives up with enormous brainfades.

Yes, I'm angry. That was disgraceful, and don't make any excuses to me.

dont reckon your giving credit where due. we were fantastic today, adn have been for over 12 months now. fyfe, mundy and hill are all quality players who took the game away from you.

this post seems the very definition of a knee-jerk reaction. 1-1 aint that bad, and losing to a top four aspirant can happen from time to time. chin up, you have the power next week. if craig, who has been a wonderful coach, has anything to answer for its the recruiting of richard tambling.

Tambling played very well again.

As for kneejerk: it's not. If we'd been competitive, I could accept a loss. Instead we were insipid and soft, as has been so common under Craig.

you watch your players more closely than i do obviously, but from what i saw, i thought tambling was ordinary. im not going to debate your thoughts anymore. the crows could win the next 5 games and this loss will be forgotten. good luck for the year, and please belt those mongrels from port :thumbsu:

Im just frustrated with the lack of consistency. OK yeah we are a young side and mistakes will be made, but to only have 3 or 4 guys actually go hard at the ball for the entire first half and then suddenly they get a rocket and we are better.....

I dont think its just a lack of composure under pressure either as Hawthorn did that in R1 and we coped alright. And I agree we arent giving Freo enough credit. Theyve been smashed in the media over there and it was probably not before time they put in a performance like that. Its just they had 18 witches hats to run around.

Give Freo credit, they deserve it and thoroughly out-played us.

Our hunger wasnt there in the first half - Im putting that down to the bye...dunno why, just a hunch.

Tippet into the ruck was obvious and contested ball improved but we looked like we'd spent the weekoff on the piss. Im very disappointed - Truck must be gutted on such a big day.

Stevens was one of our betters players.

But while we're giving people sprays, what the hell was Hendo's deal today? He has a really shitty game. A REALLY shitty game. Otten wasn't much better either.

You've come off a bye early on when teams should be looking to build momentum. We've played an extra week and figured out what we had to do to win, ie. Apply pressure and tackle like mofos. I expect you'll bounce back next week, you've just come up against a team with something or someone to play for.

Will be interesting to see how each team comes off after the bye. Naturally if you're playing a quality side the round after your bye (like Freo today) you can't put much on it.

the loss is disappointing however I am going to reserve some of my judgements until we are 8-10 rounds into the season

I do expext us to make the 8 this season however I also expected that there would be some flat spots along the way.

Another reason why I want to reserve my judgement is because I want to see how other sides come perform the week after the bye, playing 2 games within a month is not ideal.

Looking forward to see how we bounce back next week

Agree totally with the opening post. Fremantle congratulations but if you think you were terrific today, post that sort of performance up against Collingwood. You will get flogged. We were atrocious.

It is not Craig's fault the most of our players were lazy today and that Fremantle out played us. To many people under estimated Fremantle before the game.
All through the week I kept thinking that this was a danger game.

The Auskick kids would have given us a run for our money.

I'd like to know how often we win the lower milestone games (50, 100 and 150)?

The 250 and 300 games we are normally a lock.

otten was worst on ground.
How did Maric go?
Normally I'm a fan of Ivan's but today was one of his worst performances ever. If he is to survive in AFL he needs to bridge the gap between his best and worse performances.

I'd argue that Henderson was worse. Maric would have been close. Then there's Jaensch & McKernan. Tough to pick Worst on Ground today with so many genuine contenders.

As for the OP. Yes, your judgement is incredibly kneejerk in nature.

For starters, you've massively underestimated Freo who are considerably better than you've given them credit for.

Then there's the fact that so many of our players decided to phone in their performances, rather than turning up in person. Really, there's nothing much the coach can do when 8 or 9 players decide to adopt the foetal position and refuse to participate in the contest.

The one thing you did get right is that it was embarrassing to watch and a completely disgraceful performance.

Disagree Vader. Their skill level was just as poor, were we just awful. They missed kickable goals, fumbled the ball. Against quality opposition, they would have been thrashed.

I didn't watch the game, was at work. We all need to understand here...Fremantle aren't the freo of old, they are a team that is going places and to be honest I'd be very suprised if they didn't make the Top 4 this year, they're still missing Morabbito and Barlow lol.

We lost by 25 and yes played bad from all reports. We need to find out why all our mids bar Thompson disappear for the majority of the game when it's there to be won. It happens time and time again. Until we work that out, we'll always be behind the ape ball.

There were way too many out there who just didn't bother to put in a shift today. This happened a bit at the end of last year as well. Too many Big Time Charlies on this team that don't bother putting in an effort the next week after a good win.

Too many that don't run in straight lines. Looking at you Henderson. Threw down an impressive challenge to Luke Jericho's NAB Cup Grand Final performance today. Absolutely pathetic.

While Jaensch summoned the spirit of Jacky in that no.10 guernsey.

Too many slow players - both of mind and by foot. Stevens was terrible today - Lord of the fumbles. Brad 'hospital ball' Symes isn't AFL standard, and Maric is just awful. Watching him come up against any sort of decent ruckman, let alone Sandilands, is just plain embarrassing.

About 5 players bother to show up today, and one of them was an 18 year old first year player. Not good enough, and there needs to be some real home truths spoken this week. That was the true definition of an embarrassing performance.

Fremantle are a quality team who lack the killer instinct of Collingwood and Geelong.Having said that if they kicked straight they would have won by 50+pts.
Fremantle weren't even at full strength today just like us and yet they totally outplayed and outclassed us.
