Seriously for a minute, imagine Melbourne held their place on top of the ladder in the dying rounds of 2004.

Just to bring this up, this is still the most shattering season of AFL I've witnessed as a Melbourne supporter.

Hit top Rd18. Proceed to lose the next four and get cheated out of the elimination final by some of the worst umpiring I've ever seen, losing by under a goal. Essendon turn around and get flogged the next week.

Was so, so shattered. Thought it was our year that year.
