I hope you all know what it means.

one man doesn't make a club.

we'll bounce back, we always do.

strength through loyalty.

My sentiments exactly, a single coach a single player does not make the fabric of a club, are not the reason that we love her so and are definitely not the reason for where we are today, they are simply the current embodiment of our hope for the club.

Wait for the phoenix instead of bemoaning the ash. :thumbsu:

People are well within their right to be disappointed but anybody mocking Ross has poor taste IMO.

The man nearly took us to the promised land twice. I'll choose to remember the good times.

You do that. I'l think of the man as a prostitute. Good for the ride but leaves you broke and feeling like shit.
He could have conducted himself better.
What about the last year if his contract??????????

Its ok, us Saints supporters are used to seeing coaches come and go...

Yep I've seen plenty of coaches come and go in my time supporting the Saints, some better than others, but usually they get sacked rather than walk out like Lyon has.

At the end of the day I support the club and not any one individual, I even stayed loyal when my hero Plugger left so I'm not about to give up on the club because a coach has left.

Our motto isn't Strength Through Loyalty for nothing, we'll keep punching on like we always do.:thumbsu:

Yep best attitude to take.

Once all of the standard bitching and anger is over and done with in a few days we will, like always, keep the faith in our proud club.

Does anyone on here think the playing group knew something was UP before the game on Saurday night. I went to the game to see who we would be playing this week and I've got to say the 1st half was very un-St.Kilda like as far as intensity goes.....

That which does not kill you makes you stronger.

Under Lyon's game plan we were almost always in touch but the other side of this is that the foe was always in touch of us. Maybe now we will have a game plan that allows us to hammer teams into defeat within the first half.

Lyon is number 16 on the list of coaches I've seen come and go.

We survived them all and are still here so bring on number 17.

I've only seen 5 in my lifetime.

Bring on number 6!

It's amazing how this time last year, the dream seemed so real, and now it seems as far away as it was in 2000.

Nah, don't think like that.

We have a great list still, and some pretty good kids considering we haven't been at the bottom of the ladder since 2003.

A fresh mentality yes, but any team with Riewoldt, Hayes, Dal Santo, Goddard, Fisher, Milne and Montagna in it won't just quietly die out......

Im glad he's gone

any coach that continually played his gun player in a position to get smashed bashed and crashed physically week in week out and didn't have a backup plan to get him into space or into the game aint a real thinker

not to many kids in the team last week either

Still rate him, but this aspect of his game was bloody frustrating.

This week we'll try Gilbert as a forward, hmmm that didnt work, lets try..... Gilbert, nope, how about Gilbert... strange it didnt work, well lets give Gilbert a shot.

Similar to Raph as a sub ( why did he ever think that would work ).
Riewoldt as a sole forward target etc.

I don't know about knowing anything was up. Finally the truth can come out and it seems the firmer offer was made after the loss

However, without really wanting to drag the Elim Finals loss back into the spotlight, I agree with you totally with the lack of intensity shown by the Saints that night (first half especially)

fortius quo fidelius

means strength of the faithful
as in stronger by virtue of the faith we have in each other
hence strength through loyalty

I try to live my life by these simple guidelines - it's true

I am faithful to my Saints and they are stronger for my loyalty to them, but its also true to say I'm faithful to my wife and family and this adds strength in so many ways to our lives.

This can be expanded to my employers, in fact to almost every relationship I have.

I think this philosophy is a wonderful example to the kids in my life. They see the commitment I offer and they see how loyalty is virtuous and adds strength.

I might add that loyalty is not blind. One must still use "common sense". There are certain realities in life that supercede certain loyalties - only you can decide when this is appropriate.

Ross Lyon's "bar" is set quite a bit lower than mine.

"Do unto others before they do it to you".
