Went to the bowl last night to see Wolfmother, The Cranberries and Kravitz.

Was in row T so pretty close.

Wolfmother. A nothing band. Yes they may be a band but they aren't a group. 3 guitarists who all think they need to jump around and show off.
No cohesion whatsoever. We were 20 minutes in and thought 'god, another 30 minutes of this.

Would not go to see them even if they played in my backyard.

Cranberries. Emphasised the comment above. Pure class.
Cohesion, great calmness with energy. Zombie went off ! I think they are touring, go see them.

Kravitz. I thought I knew stuff all Kravitz songs. Wrong !
Energetic, Charismatic, sharp. Just wow.
The guy has so much presence. And although the music is loud, it isn't loud. (If you get my drift.) Just loads and loads of crisp clear riffs with brilliant lighting. And if you wanted to call a band a group, this is it.

I wish I could upload a few vids here. He slayed them.
 
Saw the original Wolfmother play a few years ago at Kryal Castle in Ballarat, and despite being only barely more original than Jet, they were pretty good, had a good energy etc.

Saw them again, with the new lineup, after the originals told Stockdale to shove it, opening for AC/DC, and they were shit.
 
oh I didnt know there were originals etc.

Yeah, must have been about 2010 (maybe 2009) the original band members quit, due to "artistic differences" (read: Stockdale is a ****), and Stockdale kept the name, ala Axl Rose.
 
What they all quit?
 
Just looked it up. Back then it was a 3 piece band, and the bassist/keyboardist (Chris Ross) and drummer (Myles Heskett) quit in 2008 (clearly my memory is a bit hazy), citing "Irreconcilable personal and musical differences". 2 other band members have since been and gone too.
 
I want more weekends like the one just gone.

Does anybody know much about glandular fever?
My 6 yr old has just been diagnosed with it:(
It breaks my heart when she's lying there all day.:(:(
 
Shit. That's horrible. Sorry to hear it.

I know stuff all.
My kids have had a bunch of fevers. Stacks of hospital visits.

All I have ever learnt is that a fever isn't necessarily a bad thing. But kids have more trouble with it. The younger they are the harder it is to fight.

She is in hospital?
 
I'm sure you've read all this. It sounds like you are going to have to wait it out with panadol and lots of water (which is something I have real trouble with my kids when they are sick. Getting them to drink !!)

Get lots of zooper doopers etc. Anything to get her to hydrate.
Even give her things like cereal twice a day. At least the milk will help hydrate.

Having said that one of kids tends to throw up milk when they have a fever.

"Causes

Glandular fever, also known as infectious mononucleosis, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. This virus is commonly transmitted through saliva. This is why this condition is sometimes called ‘the kissing disease’.

Symptoms

The incubation period for glandular fever is between 30 and 50 days, with symptoms coming on gradually.

At first, your child might feel generally unwell and tired. She will then probably develop a fever, a sore throat and tender, swollen lymph glands, mainly in the neck (and often in the armpits and groin). The sore throat usually lasts for a week or two. Your child might occasionally complain of upper abdominal pain, which might be caused by an enlarged liver and spleen. A red, spotty rash might appear on your child’s trunk.

Glandular fever symptoms can last for weeks or even months, especially the associated tiredness or general lethargy. Complications with glandular fever are rare, and most children get better completely with time.

If your child’s spleen is enlarged, it might be wise for him to avoid contact sports. This is because they increase the risk of rupturing or tearing the spleen. He might be too tired to do sports anyway.

Young children might be infected with the Epstein-Barr virus and only suffer mild symptoms, or even no symptoms at all. Only 50% of older and adolescent children infected with the virus will develop symptoms. More than 90% of adults have been infected with the Epstein-Barr virus and have antibodies to the virus, meaning they won’t usually be re-infected."

My Daughter has most of those symptoms and at the moment she is very lethargic and nods on and off on the couch. She's been ordered off school for 4-6 weeks as it can be very contagious. I was told(although unsure how true)that since i also had it as a kid, that if i contract it, it could lead to chronic fatigue syndrome. It can last for up to a year.
She isn't well at the moment, but i think she'll improve greatly within the next week(fingers crossed)
I suppose the only positive i can take out of it is the peace and quiet around the house at the moment, also the couple of days i've got off work.
I just hope the other little one doesn't start getting similar symptoms now.

Well it looks like it is transmitted with saliva. So just make sure they dont share cups etc.

Not much you can do other than be as sterile as possible.
When my kids get crook I go nuts washing all sheets, wiping down door knobs, bed frames etc. with dettol.

Just to try an eliminate any spread. But it is really rare that our kids catch what the other one has. Maybe it's due to my cleaning. Could just be lucky.


Also from that info above it would be pretty hard for you to get it again.

Oh and look into those hyralite bars. Your daughter may not like them. Mine doesn't but gee they rehydrate you quickly. They are a form of zooper dooper from the chemist.

The wife went and got something similar earlier, and she doesn't take to well to them, but at the same time there slowly but surely doing the job:thumbsu:

The wife has OCD so there is no problem with the cleanliness of the house. She even covers her hand with the sleeve of her jumper when using the traffic lights.

I had a girlfriend once (that just left me open :) ). And she wasnt strange at all.
But she went through her teens where she would wash her hands, and then if she touched the tap to turn it off she would wash them again.

She was completely aware of how dumb it was. She kept working at it, and eliminated it.

Must be a very tough mental thing to get over.

I'll be at the supermarket and my daughter will kind of jump. "what was that honey?"

I'm trying not to step on lines.
