For all those wanting Silvangi I hope u are watching game tonight

Exactly He was terrible and by no means an answer to be our Gorilla, let alone Freo's

I feel sorry for him.

And a bit of OT, but that game followed a script I've already seen way too many times.
Exactly what I was thinking.

If you mean Dawson destroyed Walker then I think you're incorrect, he kicked 4 goals in both of their matches against Freo
I mean Walker destoyed Dawson. But someone i put Walker Destroyed Walker. Lol. But yes now you know what i ment.

Walker would have got 8 if that move was made, Silvani sucked, Clarke sucked, Pav sucked and Ross spat it. What a great night.

I would think the only reason the AFL don't want to give a "definitive" answer is because some sharp legal minds would find a way to get top picks while signing other FA players.

Eg we lose Goddard and get an "Indicative" first rounder BUT if we then sign Troy Chaplin that moves to an "Indicative" second rounder.

If Goddard opted for FA and the AFL said "You will get a first round pick for losing such a valuable player" a good legal mind would make sure that we got that pick, regardless of who we signed through FA. The wording of this is basically just to cover their arse.

The most pleasing aspect of last nights win, was that while it appears that Lyin still has the expertise and ability, to get a team to the finals, he has not the flexibility, game plan, or match day skills to win it.

I look forward to a number of years, of watching Freo lose finals, before Lyin moves on to the next club, with an up and coming list.

It's almost like ... if you lose someone good to FA, don't bother picking up someone who is just handy via FA (and risk losing a first rounder). Not sure what the problem is with compensating clubs on a stand alone basis for each player.

maybe now the "lets get silvagni" or the "lets get clarke" posts can stop. now they know what theyve been playing like in the WAFL

Its pretty Bizzare. If we lose BJ the best strategy would seem to be to make do for a year, while keeping room on the cap, collect the first round pick, then make a big play on FA next year.

Exactly. Either that, or use some of our lower picks, or trade someone, to go after someone to fill any positional needs we have.

If we don't go after anyone that is on much money though and end up having some cap space free next year (what we were going to pay BJ), we would then be wise to re-negotiate one or two of our contracts, to front-end them with more of their money to be paid next year, to get closer to filling our cap for next year. That way will then have even more cap space free for when we go after someone through free agency in 12 months time.

What was the story with Lyon taking off his assistant's headphones??? That was Bizarre.

ST KILDA has completed a stunning recovery from salary cap turmoil and is now scouting the trade and free agency market for a defender.
During the past 18 months the the Saints' plight was sometimes judged to be more perilous than Hawthorn in the late 1990s, when it had the worst list but the highest wage bill.

Now St Kilda is one of a number of clubs eyeing West Coast defender Mitch Brown, dropped again in recent weeks.

He is contracted, but has played only eight games this year and is sure to be the subject of offers from Victorian clubs.

Melbourne's unrestricted free agent Jared Rivers has also taken St Kilda's fancy. He can be lured without having to satisfy the Demons in a trade.

The future of popular defender/back-up ruckman Jason Blake remains unclear and may depend on the Saints landing another tall backman.

Blake has told coach Scott Watters he wants to play on. Watters rates Blake and his leadership highly, but there is no decision yet.

Prudent contracting, Zac Dawson's departure and a younger list is helping ease the squeeze at the Saints.

The club has some cash, even if Brendon Goddard is recontracted.

No one at St Kilda can get an accurate gauge on his intentions but it could take until October 22 - the last date for clubs to match free agency offers - to play out.

Can we just end this season already? Eager to see what changes will be made.

Totally agree.Very excited to know we'll be aggressive during Free Agency & Trade Week. Hopefully land a couple more young guns in the draft as well.Bring it on

Melbourne clubs aware Josh Caddy is on the open market are having a tough time working out how much he is worth.

Several have looked at the Gold Coast's best-and-fairest result, where he placed 17th despite playing every game this year.

In Round 23 he won just three possessions, but his 15 goals and 334 possessions - and exceptional character - means Geelong leads the race from Melbourne, with the Suns not interested in what Essendon could offer in a player swap.

The usual "quality" from the Daily Filth.
