I'm not totally sure how I feel about this.
If the likes of Lonergan, Pettard, Edwards & Knights work out then it will be a great strategy and push us into the Sept. action.
If however 2 or 3 of them end up as Coburg regulars then perhaps our step into finals action may better have been delayed another 12 months and some more youngsters might have been more value longer term.

I think if 2 or 3 of them spend the whole year at coburg we've had a good injury run and will be right in the mix come finals. If injury strikes and our kids aren't showing enough in the twos, we have ready made, mature cover in most positions.

In my opinion the list is looking pretty well rounded.

that was a nth dude who seemed to forget that they have done it as well peterson etc in the past few years. it came across as if we used all our picks on recycled players.

How do you know it was a Norf dude?

Couldn't have said it better myself. This is why I am bloody excited about season 2013. When we have a full, healthy team, we are bloody competitive and would make finals. However, we have been dogged by injuries and have had to revert to asking the likes of Maric, Webberly, White, McGuane etc. to step up. Now however we actually have some decent depth, so we wont be as f***ed if someone goes down with an injury.
In short, our depth has improved significantly, and Tiges will make finals 2013...

Its a new era under young Cotchy ladies and gentleman.

here, here.

Great pick by you guys, he's a fantastic inside player, has good hands and awareness.
Can go forward and kick a few too. He'll work hard all game.
Really good bloke, humble and very surprised he was delisted.
I'll be able to give you guys a fair bit of info on him as he's a friend of mine.

So in your unbiased opinion would you say he could become an A-grader? :p

He must be wrapped to get to Richmond seeing he supported us

The last Essendon player I got excited about coming over was Justin Blumfield and that didn't turn out as we hoped. Let's hope Lonergan continues the positive trend started by Houli of ex-bombers joining the Tiges.

As a side note how many Bombers have we recruited over the last 10-15 years and how many were a success?

I reckon Essendon is getting way ahead of themselves by cutting loners they needed him more than we do imo

Yet another dumb aarse move by the bummers:thumbsu:

They have enough inside mids, just not enough outside class IMO

Interesting rambo. Whoever the reporter was talking about his injuries was quickly corrected during his interview. Has anyone heard why he was cut from the Dons ? From an outsiders point of view still looked in their best 22 or very close. Slats or anyone else know anything ?? cheers in advance

The Goddard signing had to have a casualty or 2. I wonder if he was a victim of circumstance?

Think I read somewhere on here that he doesn't have a big tank and they feel like they have a couple of younger guys that have gone past him.

I would have thought they need another extractor to support Watson. I think Goddard is more outside these days.

Firstly bone crunching mids r gold imo

No way is he the worse player on there list and the position he plays you need a seasoned player .

Just cut someone else to get ya that extra outside.

Loners shows potencial forward as well(bad move bummers:p)

Can see us using him forward then injecting him in the middle to give tucky a break.

He does hav too step is footy up a bit next season and i reckon he will

His cards would have been marked before Goddard. He's 25yo, got 80 games behind, been fairly injury free, he's not best 22 and he's barely improved since 2008. We decided to clear our list cloggers this off-season (Reimers, Prismall and Dyson got cut too) and so Lonergan was an obvious enough cut. He's a great guy, but simply, he doesn't do anywhere near enough. He's hard, he can tackle, and he can get clearances which are of debatable value. He doesn't do much else. There was no point keeping him around on the senior list, even as depth. We've kinda had a few injures the last few years and Lonergan stepping in to fill the void has done jack. Moving on was the right choice, although that's not an unanimous opinion.

Pretty much good cover for Tucky & Jackson if either gets injured, Whilst providing good competition for the spot just to keep all 3 on their toes - Not the worst 40th player on a list :thumbsu:

We now have the luxury of having ready-made AFL footballers on our rookie list...on base wage....on short term contracts.
Seems a winner for me and I think you will see a lot of clubs follow suit in the coming years.
