U MAD BRO?
dont be stupid, tyson well overrated, as i said plenty of others to chase, anyway i shouldnt care what gws does, its your club that has the problems when gws take all sydneys fairwaeather supporters, and sponsors, which is the most likely outocome in a few years

at least we can get further than 9th.
yes but not without getting subsidies from the afl, you arnt on even playing field, youve been helped and propped up by the afl since the move to sydney, lockett on his way to richmond but afl stepped in and put a stop to that, look at history , you cant say you won on your own merits , which is sad

this is where the whole concessions thing is really bullshit for me.

port came into the league with moderate but fair concessions and we recruited a fair core of our team from the sanfl. fair enough it was different back then, and alot of the state talent is drained compared to back then but we took alot of players from our home state that were never figured to be guns and they turned into stars and/or mainstays of the club.

because gc/gws were given so many 1st round picks alot of their homegrown talent isnt going to be nurtured in the same way. they will be the far too made up of interstate players, and i think that has some affect on how the public engages them.

If Port had to pick the best of their team from the NSW/ACT or Queensland they would've folded long ago. Yes, GC and GWS got a different set of concessions from any that went before, but that's because previous concessions were either horrendously shit (Brisbane Bears and Fremantle to some extent), or impractical because of being outside the traditional AFL states (Adelaide, Port, West Coast). The AFL is also (obviously) hoping for these teams to be successful pretty much immediately so that they can stand on their own feet better... so they probably overreacted a bit. I think the top end talent would have been needed, but they could have halved the number of picks and made it a little less ridiculous. However, it would mean that GC don't have Prestia, Lynch and Tape, and GWS would go without Smith, Adams and Greene. Not really a big deal, save for Greene, at this point.

So... are you old enough to remember Richmond's last premiership? Because I'm getting a vibe of "no"...

Sorry to stray off topic but what a rubbish thing to say.

Sydney had their entire list turned over after their last Premiership in 05' and remarkably won a Premiership 7 years later with only a small number of high draft pics. Through that time they kept a consistent level and rarely missed finals.

This talk of not winning on merits is absolute balls. Teams like Melbourne and Richmond have had season after season of high draft picks and priority picks and what have they got to show for it??

Sydney deserve every accolade for their talent identification, brilliant coaching, and best culture in the competition. Guys like Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn could have been picked up by anyone whilst Alex Johnson was overlooked by every other club several times in the draft. Sam Reid too could have gone to anybody. Don't hate them for being successful.

As for the Port guy grumbling about concessions to GWS. Please....Port Adelaide was an established side in a state where Australian Rules is a religion. GWS was built from the ground up in a state where the code is still establishing itself.

The infrastructure for juniors is just not comparable. The concessions given were huge but they were the only way the club could survive in a very difficult environment. This team has to find early success to thrive or it will perish.

Jeez that's poor 'journalism'. Wouldn't expect anything better from these guys and sports news first.
People can change their mind on whether or not they want to be traded. Leon Cameron has been huge in their decisions to stay.

Or maybe your website should just stop reporting rumours as facts?

Once more... 40% of the players named had already re-signed to 2015 when the article was published.

It wasn't a rumour.

Well then what was it? There were so many things incorrect in the 'article'. But whatever helps you sleep at night.

grumbling?

simply made the observation that with so many high draft picks the expansion clubs have less incentive to develop their hometown players.

in the short run i think it will equal a better team, but be worse for the club in the long run.

i couldnt tell you whether i was happy with how many wins port got in 97 98 or 99, because i dont bloody remember, what i do remember is the kid from down the street stewie dew playing for them. fans form emotional connections to teams and part of that is win/loss, but a bigger part of that is identification.

tyson is an idiot to resign with sheedy as coach, anyway there are plenty of others to go for, **** tyson

That's totally ridiculous.

As is this

The Swans have a good loyal base & plenty of scope to progress deep into the available sporting market within NSW.

As for Dom Tyson, he seems to be a pretty good player.

if you think having sheedy as your coach and that he is going to develop you as a player , then ive got a car to sell you

Why are you so concerned if Tyson is "well overrated"?

Besides, Sheedy is more of a figurehead & match day performer, plus a single season leader.

Please, cry more. This is entertaining. If you're claiming GWS won't develop kids, how come Richmond hired the guy that's been part of it for the last couple of years?

okay i admit i was pissed, i want tyson running around in the yellow and black, but i stand by sheedy is so past its a joke, he is just a money hungrey old whore

Man that bound for glory article was trash when it was written. And time is only making it look worse if that's possible. Great news for the giants. I think in a few years time a healthy giants and suns will mean a healthy AFL.

And its official

The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS are pleased to announce they have re-signed another seven of their young players to long term agreements with the club.

Jonathon Patton, Dom Tyson, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Andrew Phillips and Sam Frost have all agreed to contract extensions until the end of 2015. Curtly Hampton and Aidan Corr have agreed to commit to the club until the end of 2016. - See more at: http://www.gwsgiants.com.au/news/2013-02-27/the-magnificent-seven#sthash.5aLQyxX9.dpuf

alot of people were whispering dom and hoskin-elliott were gone.

sa boy josh growden still not resigned for next year??

i know he broke his leg? how did he come back from it? a chance to re-sign or leave?

It's easy now when they've got plenty of cash to splash about with only a handful of players on large salaries.

Let's see if they do so well in a couple of years.
