I'm sorry if someone has already made a thread like or similar to this. But who is your favourite and least favourite commentator? and why?
I'll start.

Favourite: Anthony Hudson - I just love the enthusiasm in his commentary and he has some fantastic, memorable quotes. "Nick Davis, Nick Davis!!! I see it, but I don't believe it!!!!!!" is obviously my favourite :D .

Least favourite: Brian Taylor - Just such a boring commentator who has the most cheesiest lines like "Wow-wee". Seriously...?

Your turn.

Favourite: Dennis Commetti - he's still the best, and when he's not trying too hard to be funny (which he doesn't need to do anyway), he's miles ahead.

Least Favourite: Feck, where to start. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. Off the top of my head........

Russell, Taylor, McAvaney, Healy, Shaw, Darcy, Frawley, Roos, and of course McLachlan

I always liked Drew Morphett

I cannot listen to Brian Taylor or Tony Shaw.

Gerard Whately and Anthony Hudson favourites.
Worse: BT, JB, and Quartermain

Best: Whateley radio, Huddo TV.
Worst: With only Foxtel showing footy currently it seems Derrrrwayno is getting 2 games a week, so he's out in front right now. No doubt others will remind me just how shit they are once I hear their shitty voices.

Best - Dennis Cometti
Worst - All of K-Rock commentators.
Having said that, the late great Ted Whitten was a great commentator, he combined with Brian Brushfield in a very Tony Greig/Bill Lawry kind of way.

Absolutely spot on with both calls! Huddo the best by a country mile and Brian Taylor is past it, his arrogance shows in his commentary. Doesn't come up with anything analytical, just over the top calls with useless comments, nothing that adds an insight into the game!

Favourite:
Anthony Hudson
Gerard Whateley
Shane McInnes

Least Favourite:
Basil Zempilas
BT
Matthew Richardson - He is better when he is not around BT

Best: Matt Granland - Great caller who mixes excitement with precise commentary, isn't a sycophant or a gusher and comes across as passionate.

Worst: Anthony Hudson - irritating voice, biased and a complete phony.

Best: Huddo clearly.

Worst: Depends on the criteria. Tony Shaw is the dumbest, Brian Taylor is the most annoying, Dwayne Russell is the most insincere. I think Shaw annoys me the most. But Robert Walls was a clear leader before he was mercifully taken from our screens.

Tony Shaw is the dumbest

Agree. You can see why he was a failed coach.
Whenever he commentates on Tigers games his hatred of us really comes to the fore.

Agree on Mcguire, Russell, Mcavaney, Quaterbrain,Rompingwins and Frawley being the worst.

Best would be Whately, Grandland, Hudson and actually don't mind JB.

I don't have Foxfooty so can't really name their commentators

Favourite: Don't really have a clear favourite. The 3AW and SEN guys are quite good.

Least favourite: Bruce. A ****wit who has no idea about any sport that he calls and is commentary is cringe worthy. He doesn't bring anything good to the table.

Best: Cometti and Hudson (the two standouts IMO)
Worst: BT, Basil, Rompingwins and Dwayne Pipe on TV and Stephen Rowe on the radio who is beyond shocking. Constant use of rhyming slang and you can't understand what's happening in play half the time because he's always grunting and screaming with "ooooh!" "Oooo!" "SMAAACK! etc.

Best: Huddo and Michael Christian, IMO the only decent commentators going around these days (Cometti is just a parody of himself these days)
Worst: I legitimately can't separate Rompingwins/Basil/Dwayne/BT (I know he loves a lot of our players but he's ridiculously unprofessional) and Bruce "You'd reckon aye? PHWOOOOAR" McAvaney.

Favourite: Dennis Commetti - he's still the best, and when he's not trying too hard to be funny (which he doesn't need to do anyway), he's miles ahead.

Close to what i'd post. I'd put Hudson into the favourite category and i'm one of the few that liked Quatermain. Don't hate McAvaney and Frawley although not favourites either.

Russell and Taylor i can't stand. "SAAAAAAAAAANDI-LAAAAAANDS" "BOY! That's as good as it gets!" etc

Yeah Hudson isn't too bad, and Quartermain when he wants to can be a pretty good caller. They're a class above the troglodytes in the second list. McAveney needs to be controlled. He can be a good caller, but he's too interested now in putting on a clown show, and calling seemingly every player by their first names.

Gerard Whateley is my favourite. Actually describes play knowing that radio listeners can't see that the ball is 35 metres out from the Sydney goal on the boundary line. mmm fools just yell out names over the top of each other.

Best: Cometti
Worst: Brian Taylor - Can't stand the way he says players bames the wrong way e.g. Mon-frees.
McAvaney - Hate the way he ends every sentence with a question tag. "That was a good kick wasn't it?" "He's delicious isn't he?"
