People who suggest that racism towards white people is more acceptable than racism towards minority groups are actually racist without even realising. If anyone wants me to explain why then please ask.

This shouldn't be an unpopular opinion. The people you talk about are just as ignorant as those they criticise. Racism, like sexism, is abhorrent no matter who it's aimed at.

kings of leon get a bit of a bum rap. yeah they're music has gone downhill but it hasn't gone that horrific. some of the vitriol you hear from "fans" is a bit over the top. i also reckon because of the times is a good album but maybe cause that's the first one i heard so when i was listening to it i never had a basis of comparison to previous albums. it's definitely slower paced then the first two. the last track arizona is far and away their best track imo.

I would almost say the 'vitriol' comes because the newer songs are the ones they're going to be remembered for, by the unwashed masses. Personally, I thought CAS was poor. It just lacked something. Another thing that annoyed me was talking to people after Sex On Fire was released, talking about this new band...and it certainly didn't help that my father-in-law likes the new stuff!

Arizona is a magnificent track

Dodgeball really isn't that great. Few laughs and slapstick humour, but it's not one of the funniest movies ever like people think.

The Hangover is moronic and most of those movies tend to be. You don't have to watch Scandinavian art house every night, but there's good film and trashy shit. Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider are the kings of turd films – which is probably an unpopular opinion to most of Australia's middle class...

There's no issue with wanting to switch off your brain and just laugh at movies like 'The Hangover' every now and again, though.

The movie Moneyball was boring. I don't see why every club is falling over themselves to be the moneyball team. Reading the book (very wordy and hard to get into frankly) the concept more relates to selling players at their peak and buying in underrated players who can fulfill a need. Really don't see the comparison to the AFL.

I'll start believing when a club trades a high profile player like Buddy or say Jobe Watson (as they are about to get old/decline from their peak) and replace them with a journeyman.

Just not my cup of tea, tried reading LOR and didn't make it out of the shire. Sci-fi/Fantasy book nerds unnerve me quite frankly.

Understandable :p. Personally, i'm a sucker for in-depth lore.

Some unpopular opinions I have:

- Rates of pay in Australia are incredibly good and people in regular paid employment should almost never have financial issues or live pay day to pay day as many do (of course, the are exceptions). For example, I earn a wage below the national average and considered low income (and I could not get a home loan on my own). Yet I am healthy, lead a good social life, pay all my bills on time, have everything I need and am paying my home off four times faster than required (the same loan no lender thought I could afford). Conversely, I have 'friends' who always are trying to borrow money despite earning more than I do and having fewer genuine financial obligations.

- The stuff that these friends and most Australians spend money on add abolutely nothing to our lives - they are certainly no happier/more content that communities I have lived in overseas without these things.

- Similarly, I think paying taxes is a good thing and would be happy to pay more for the right reasons. eg. the new disability scheme, health care, education, better public transport, etc.

- Beer is pretty average.

- 90% of TV is absolute trash (particularly reality TV) and is a complete waste of time (i.e. so bad it is not even good for enjoyment or just chilling out)

- Don't really get the appeal of going out and 'getting smashed' at every opportunity, particularly those who seem to beleive it is the only way to have fun. There is so many ways to have a great time.

- Primary and Secondary education should have an overhaul that sees them teach in a range of different learning styles. Rote learning and reading is the least effective way of learning for most people, particularly boys. Learning by doing, experiential learning and peer learning are but some of the methods that would see our education levels improve and see previously struggling students begin to excel. A balance of all these styles (and helping students identify how they learn best) would greatly benefit all individuals and the nation as a whole.

Your TV opinion really isn't that unpopular unless you're including US and UK TV as well?

The vast majority of people I know watch TV every single night, often for several hours. Some say they know it's crap and do it to 'switch off' or 'chill out' but will excitedly talk about what happened the next day and hate missing 'their shows'. Things like 'The Voice' are immensely popular.

I do not feel the same way. I find most genuinely boring (even annoying) and would much prefer to do nearly anything else. The judges on 'The Voice' for example just say irrelevent cliches and make everything melodromatic, serving the lowest common denominator. Whilst others often agree with this opinion (it's cool to do so), they still go home and watch the show anyway (clearly enjoying it). Alas, I genuinely don't enjoy it and will not watch.

I agree with this. It's just the people that are think The Hangover is the best movie of all time that shit me.

I love watching American Pie, Superbad etc but I wouldn't say they're great movies or anything.

My parents are those type of people who like to 'unwind' with TV every night but also can't stop complaining about how everything on there is crap. They secretly love all those trash shows like The Voice and the Biggest Loser. I don't understand it, especially in the case of my parents who used to be quite active and at some point just decided they'd rather piss away their time watching crap even though they are just as physically able as they were 10-15 years ago.

The Godfather is the greatest movie of all time. This is an empirically proven fact, and if you disagree you are a communist.

Yeah, I agree. They aren't great movies. Then again, neither are any of the movies I like to watch. But I wouldn't enforce that they are great movies.

Most popular comedies are rubbish, but I'll admit they do make you laugh.

Huh? They are rubbish...But achieve their goal by making you laugh? o_O
