My guess is said peptide is Thymosin beta-4

There are apparently several forms of this and not all of them are banned. If they saw it on a consent form or receipt they would have to investigate to make sure it was the legal one.

This is assuming Barrett isn't just pulling stories out of his arse to fill his slot on the show.

Barrett you tiprat.

What kind of rubbish non-story is that?! Couldn't even name the peptide himself! And all he could say was they've been interviewed about it!

Another quality footy show exclusive from the best damn news man in the business. It's his ability to reel off those "alleged facts" off that iPad which sets him apart from his peers.

Yep that's what I'm thinking. Read somewhere Dank ordered Thymosin beta-4 specifically, so I'm assuming ASADA is investigating that and if it was administered to EFC players or just for his personal business.

ASADA chief Richard Ings to be dumped by government in senior staff cleanout
February 05, 2010 12:00AM

The long-time head of the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency, Richard Ings, will be dumped as part of a federal government cleanout of senior staff.

Ings, who first made headlines as a 22-year-old tennis umpire who took on John McEnroe, was forced to reapply for his position last year after a damning independent review found ASADA was riddled with infighting and mistrust.
But his unusual dual roles created tension with other ASADA members and staff and blurred the lines of responsibility and accountability.

The resulting conflicts -- including a long-running philosophical debate over whether ASADA should be hardline and prosecutorial or preventive and educational -- prompted the review to recommend a purge of senior staff along with major organisational reforms.

OH BOYYYYY, lets not quote this flog ever again please.

Quoting him is fine but it should be a bannable offence to not quote that article in the same post.

The flog just doesn't get it. Banning someone for not taking a PED is absolutely insane and will get absolutely crushed in court. Ban someone for not cheating? WTF

I look forward to this clown's meltdown when ASADA do SFA with AOD-9604

"blurred lines of responsibility And accountability?" sounds like poor governance occurred, it's almost as if it's not only ever happened at essendon....

I for one wanna get off as much as the next person, but as the former head of asada would he not know??? Perhaps some of us don't get it?? what are they or us missing?

I think he's excited that ASADA *may* get a scalp, even though the sanctions may only end up being reprimands.

If AOD-9604 isn't performance-enhancing, ASADA loses most of its ability to paint Essendon as the bad guy, and is just left with trying to nail us for using something unapproved (which isn't anywhere near as sexy in PR terms as nailing us for using PEDs).

Ings , Mark Stevens and Richard Hinds can expect Jay and silent bob style retribution. " Knock, Knock"

Damn :( was hoping for Avon Barksdale style retribution. "tap, tap"

If marijuana is performance enhancing, then a certain Collingwood player that takes political stands more than the opposition leader, would be banned for 1000 years

Look at the post from MARC_ above. He led a rabble of an organisation and was eventually removed. Not only that, but how insane does it sound to ban someone for not cheating? We are talking about people's jobs, would it be fair to ban someone for not cheating?

Let's not forget ASADA is an anti-doping authority. Doping refers to PEDs in sport, and AOD is not a PED. Ings is delusional if he thinks players will be banned for not gaining an unfair advantage

I wont be sharing your optimism but I hope your right bro

My take is that the ACC clearly screwed up by not properly researching / understanding the rules.

From the report it appears they were totally unaware of - or ignored the importance of - clause S0 in the rules, despite this being publicly documented on the WADA website.

Whether ASADA also screwed up is unknown - they didn't publish the report, so it's hard to infer they did anything wrong without knowing what they told the ACC.

Nah.

Nah to what?

To me it's clear that ACC did not screw up in the sense that they published exactly what they were advised by ASADA. They've stopped short of directly blaming ASADA.

The ACC report at the bottom of page 4 also nominates ASADA as their reference. It's not a matter of failure to research when you have the supposed SME advising you.

Say ASADA clear us, and after interviewing Dank, they uncover more stuff about our supplement regime, would they be able to issue infraction notices? Or is it once they clear us, they can't do anything afterwards?

I'm not sure Dank has any credibility, so I'm not sure what he would say in an interview they could take as truth anyway, so I don't think it would affect any outcomes.

One thing is for sure, since Barrett said this on Thursday night and it will be in the papers tomorrow, we will win by 10+ goals on Sunday..

Dank will be forced to tell the truth whether he likes it or not, unless he is willing to sit behind bars for a year

As a supporter of this club, it has been incredibly difficult and the emotion you feel about the situation changes on a daily basis.

What I have been astonished by is the performance of the players. Could you imagine if we had a crap season this year and were losing most weeks, imagine how soul destroying it would be for the club and the media would have gone even harder. The players resilience to get on with the job, mostly ignore the media that has been printed and spoken, the investigation and continue to win has been nothing short of fantastic.

We all hope desperately that we get off without suspensions or loss of points because the players deserve the chance to play finals this season.

This season will be one none of us forget any time soon and there are still some big stories to come from it.
