"To be honest, I haven't thought too much about it. But I love this club, there is no doubt about that. I am looking forward to hopefully the next few weeks and then we will sort it all out. Asked if he expected to be at Hawthorn next season, he answered: "Absolutely. I sort of want to repay the club for all they have done for me."

Sound familiar?

it is his choice to not sign till the end , any contract given in any job early the employee has a right to say no to while they are still contracted Buddy is still contracted he does not have to sign till that contract is finished regardless of if offered an early extension or not, any employee has that right ! i am sick of people going nuts that he has not signed ! i wish they realised HE DOES NOT HAVE TO TILL THE CURRENT CONTRACT IS FINISHED !

That is exactly my point if you read my earlier post

If he is happy with his offer, which is most likely our final offer and he wants to stay at the Hawthorn FC......whats stopping him ? its that simple!

He said "I want to stay a Hawk" why didn't he say "I am staying at the Hawks".He hasn't received a deal in writing yet from GWS, when he finds out what he can earn he will make up his mind. He does NOT sound confident to me!He has said a few times he loved the Hawks, but that doesn't mean he will stay. o_O

LMH, doesn't mean he doesn't know.
GWS has spoken to Liam Pickering and would have already given him a very clear indication of what they will offer Buddy. He in turn would surely have told Buddy what they are going to offer him. Bud may not always come across as the brightest spark, but I'm sure he is well aware of what is on offer from all parties and no doubt has already made up his mind. But when he chooses to make it public is up to him.

his choice he as is all employees are allowed to say no to an early offer of a new contract maybe just some minor detail maybe like he said he wants to concentrate on his footy ! it is only a distraction for us and the silly media and we should ignore the media and not hassle buddy about it every time we see him or tweet him etc etc etc it is his business not ours ! sorry but that is my take on it i also feel he will stay !

Thank you captain obvious.....I'll repeat If we have given all we can afford and he wants to stay at Hawthorn...why hasn't he signed ?
Saying i want to concentrate on my football is a cop out......because No you a'int concentrating on your football when you're hounded by the media constantly. He has even admitted as such, that its a distraction.

AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN it is his choice to do so it is not against the rules or laws that he does not sign it is his choice simple as that accept it as you can not do anything about it i am not buddy to fully answer your repeated question
just cause he has not signed does not mean he is leaving either !

I will let my manager Liam Picnoccio talk to the club and take care of everything-

Where have I said it wasn't in his right, that it wasn't his choice or if its against the rules.......He has a history of signing his contracts early without any fanfare, He has stated he wants to concentrate on his football even though he has clearly admitted that its a distraction. The club is desperate to sign him and is moving heaven and earth to fit him in our salary cap with the biggest offer ever offered to a footballer at Hawthorn. Another club has allegedly hinted at an offer in the vicinity of 5 million dollars more for the term of his contract than the one offered by Hawthorn.

These are quotes from other free agents that have left there clubs......kudos to mulhollanddrive who I stole these off.

"I am planning to stay at St Kilda," he said.

"It goes back to your values. The Melbourne footy club gave me an opportunity and I actually love the club. We are heading in the right direction both on and off the field and I want to be a part of the future here

"As I sit here today, I like the thought of being a one-club player for my whole career."

Do they sound familiar.
You'd be naive to think there wasn't an ulterior motive........I want to concentrate on my football doesn't cut it, it actually reeks.

Travis Cloke put his contract talks until the end of the season (although at first he wanted to get the contract done early), Matthew Pavlich always leaves his contract until the end of the season to re-sign with Fremantle. Best case scenario is either he's undecided, or he does want to stay at Hawthorn but wants to wait to get more money (if possible) to bridge the gap between the two offers. You'd be silly to say with 100% certainty he's going to stay, but you'd also be silly to say with 100% certainty he's going to leave.

If he has already signed you seem to think he or the club needs to come out and make an announcement when the fact is they don't - in fact it suits the club not to as it stuffs up a lot of other potential trades and there are better times when we could make the announcement.

And if he hasn't signed then he hasn't signed and thats his perogative & he will make a decision later on.

Thats fair but Travis Cloke made it quite obvious that it was about money, he stated as such. Collingwood were the ones that put the contract off till the end of the year not Cloke.

You can't be serious, the club is getting hounded on the subject consistently, from players to officials. That's the kind of attention that the club needs in a year that we are trying to win the premiership. How does it stuff up potential trades ?

Reading your posts, Dipper, I'm not quite sure of your viewpoint...

Is it that Buddy must definitely be going if he hasn't signed, or is it anger that his delay in making a decision is affecting the club?

I'm going with the view he's staying, Hawthorn know this, but an announcement won't be made public until the end of the season, just as Buddy has said all along
He's a man of his word!

Just listened to the interview in 360. He sounds fairly happy. Maybe weight lifted from his shoulders, a bit like his body language had changed during the Essendon game. My understanding is that the club has made him a final offer and if so, there is no sense to wait until the end of the season to sign. I'm guessing and only guessing of course, that he has received the right offer but from another club. Gone. Don't be surprised if he plays back pocket on Friday night.

They are both related ..... I wouldn't say anger though.
